Love your channel man, been watching for a while now and you've helped inform some personal purchase decisions of mine when it comes to IR devices. Keep it up if you can. I just wanted to lend my kind of two cents to your note about wishing that bigger channels would advocate for changes against these policies as I do have a little bit of insight to this. These policies were enacted by YT with no input by anyone with any larger following. DR, along with all the big names, were "sat down" on a call and were told what was happening. There was no room or opportunity for discussion. When some in the room did step up to question or comment, GT and BH specifically, the response was "thank you for your input, but this is the move that YT is making". The feeling we had after the call was that the real decision makers sent some peons with no real power to have that meeting with everyone, they really didn't care to hear what we had to say about it. My feeling is that we are in the same boat as you as far as what we know is going to happen. We still aren't sure how to proceed, and we don't know what the future looks like for us on this platform either.

A strong example of America’s double standards when it comes to guns. Gun culture is huge and Owning guns is part of America’s identity yet the police can execute you in the streets if they suspect you have a gun on you. Showing or talking about guns is seen as inappropriate or controversial yet companies advertise them and make billions of dollars selling them.
As bad as it will be if YT regulates gun channels to the point where they can’t exist, it is also the opportunity for other platforms to absorb these channels where there is very little restraint put onto creators. At that point YT can become the stupid animal tricks platform it wants to be, and it can lose all the revenue from the gun video providers
Such a shame man. I started my own guntubing channel (different channel than this) a few months ago and it has been fun. I have gotten more revenue from amazon affiliate links than from UA-cam ad revenue, and for them to potentially take that away from me and give me channel strikes is absolutely ridiculous. I hope it doesn't kill your channel man, keep up the grind, even if it means we all shift to a new platform (I'm hoping Elon can improve X's video capabilities, that could be a great place to migrate to). @@4MRRanch oh its 100% part of their plan. They just make it harder and harder to follow their rules and continue to afford to make this kind of content till you just give up. The other thing I feel is discouraging is the lack of support within the community. I saw Hickok45 do a couple videos recently talking about having to take down videos because of the new policy and then how they had spoken at length with their dedicated account manager and a handful of other channels and come up with a way to continue to make their content with support from their sponsors. Thats a big one right now is potentially getting your channel killed because you have a sponsor who sells any kind of 2A products. It sounds like Hickok and some of the top tier channels have worked out how to keep making their content without fear of channel strikes but who knows exactly what their game plan is. It really feels like there isn't a strong alliance within the community. Any one of the top channels could make a video giving advice and guidance to the rest of us but I guess at the end of the day it's every man for themself. The only way firearm content is safe is when we all make sure each other is safe on the platform and we all have followings that show YT that this content has value and is important to people that use their platform.

I’m sorry, how is it legal for UA-cam to enforce retroactively? These videos require investment on the part of the UA-camr. There are whole channels dedicated to DIY. If someone is operating under a certain understanding of what can be posted they put investment into posting the allowed content. Stripping that away retroactively results in damages not to mention if the channel receives 3 strikes. I say class action lawsuit.

I've purchased a lot of my gear through content creators' sites and I don't mind paying more for the same product on their site as long as I can get behind their views. Well two things to address that note.. the first being that I personally like to look up for reviews anytime I have to spend over about $100 to know if I’m getting the best bang for my buck. So not being able to review things would eliminate information to people. I can’t speak for everyone’s channel, but I try to promote items that performed well enough that I would consider buying it. So in that case, it’s a way to generate some funds to support future reviews and content. People in this space do this as a job, and have mouths to feed. Commission on sales is one way to try and keep food on the table, and is ethical if the product you’re telling people is worth the money isn’t junk.
