It would make sense that Astrid would drop 1 million on a watch when she just casually dropped around the same for new earrings. To have connections like that though is amazing
I liked how the pointed out all the small details and they went for local fashion designers as well as that they made each piece of clothes especially for that person in the show
That this film wasn’t even nominated at the Oscars for Costume Design and Production Design (to say nothing of the acting and writing) is absolutely f’n shameful
@@GeorgiaAndrea all i'm saying is contemporary costume designing isn't bad. it's always been dismissed by a lot of people as if it's easier when it's just as equally difficult.
Okay this was an awesome insight into the incredible costume design in this movie! It really plays a character on its own, brings the story to life in so many ways!!
The outfits in this movie were fantastic. I heard there's supposed to be a second movie coming later. I certainly hope so. I'd love to see what they come up with next.
The second (and third - they will shoot the second and third books back to back) have had numerous delays. A fight with the original screenwriter (who only got paid peanuts) meant they had to find a new screenwriter. With the delays, the director took on other projects (In the Heights for one - and he's working on the two-part Wicked movie, coming out this November and next November). Getting all the gang back with their schedules (Michelle Yeoh and Constance Wu and Akwafina's schedules are incredibly full - and they get a lot more money per movie now). My guess is that we won't see it before 2026 at the earliest - later if the studio has a couple of bombs again like it did with West Side Story and In the Heights.
I'm here in Singapore right now...I will be visiting all of the locations from the movie tomorrow except for the island where colin's bachelor party was held...I can't wait to see everything
They used local designers to build these international dresses. Such a statement, when so much of the world is living on $2 per day. But they were not glib about this. This is a kind of elegance, yet the rest of the world is there. Amazing.
I need a Zara scene from the books in second movie it's one of my favorites, it shows Astrid as real fashionista not just rich girl even though she is known to also rock jewels from a princess too, and I know Gemma can sell it like it costs a fortune
see, this is what I expect from Hollywood films. Attention to detail, craftsmanship! Not like that new Marilyn Monroe film that shall not be named ahem, where they can't even be bothered to get the right undergarments or anything at all
Crazy Rich Asians is a nice movie, nice story and humor, but the only problem here is the lack of wow factor in terms of being "expensive and crazy rich" like the houses/mansions, there's nothing extraordinary and don't look expensive enough for "Crazy Rich" billionaires, the fashion choices - the dresses used are meh, almost a disappointment, the venues - they show some helicopter scenes but this is really quite common for the eyes, showing a jet could have been more extra. Gossip Girl fashion has more wow factor. The wedding scene is really cool with the water flow and all.. but still, they could have made it look like more expensive and grand. The cars, attendees, etc. Like I really have high expectations with the expensive stuff because they are "Crazy Rich", so I'm expecting like really really crazy.
I loved the movie, I love the fashion, and I truly respect the cast and crew of this film. I just can't get over the fact that filthy rich people like that exist actually exist in real life. I think it's truly revolting and the downfall of any society in the long run.
Sorry but taking off the large swaggering sleeves, altering all the top and shortening it doesn't make it the same dress, at best it upscale upcycling. As for haute couture being exclusive, it's hardly the case as more than one client can order the same dress. Loved this movie and yes the clothes made it better.
yes we can be rid of scams wipe those out all of them because we are the champions my friends and will keep on fighting to the end we are the champions we are the champions no time for losers cause we are the champions of the wooooooooorld .
The wedding scene has a separate fan base like its the best wedding scene I've ever seen
That dress is gorgeous!
Hands down 🙌 I want a wedding like that
@@PassTheMilk14 yeah girl mee too🤌
I agree
I hate the dragon fly light sticks
I love that they used local designers. It gave 1) the authenticity and 2) exposure for all those voices

3:45 “It’s remarkable how important this dress has become. The fact that it’s in the Smithsonian!” The costumes in this movie are amazing!
The security and insurance costs for this costume dept. must've been ASTRONOMICAL with so many valuable one of a kind pieces on set
Even Astrid looked so classy, wanted to know more about that! 😍
The first dress she wears and the 1.2 M earrings ❤
It would make sense that Astrid would drop 1 million on a watch when she just casually dropped around the same for new earrings. To have connections like that though is amazing

Oscar for wearing designers? Groundbreaking.
@@GeorgiaAndrea well costume design isn't only about making clothes
@@seokjin9509 So what else would costumes be besides clothes? Pls enlighten us.

I love the wedding dress. It's nothing like the conventional bridal gowns I have seen. The most creative and angelic piece imo
The outfits in this movie were fantastic. I heard there's supposed to be a second movie coming later. I certainly hope so. I'd love to see what they come up with next.

The Blue dress for the wedding, is one of the most beautiful dresses I've ever seen.
it's just Marchesa.
that wedding dress was stunning. I love those pearl 1.2 million dollar earrings!
Michelle Yeoh made everything she wore look spectacular, she could easily sell millions worth of clothes if she chose to
Michelle Yeoh could wear burlap sacks and she'd look gorgeous. She's so beautiful.
I just wanna see Heart Evangelista and Jamie Chua in season 2. 💜 They have all the qualifications to be part of it. Famous, Rich and fashionistas! 💜💜
How about the Yeoh Twins? Yes, please!
I'm here in Singapore right now...I will be visiting all of the locations from the movie tomorrow except for the island where colin's bachelor party was held...I can't wait to see everything
well… a few places were in malaysia so👀
Also the mansion was heavily CGI’d
The bachelor party was held on the container ship. Colin and Nick go to that island to get away from the party.
1. young's mansion : carcosa seri negara, kl, msia
2. mahjong house : Cheong Fatt Tze mansion, penang, msia
3. colin&nick escape island : rawa island, langkawi, msia
4. bachelotte party : Four Seasons Resort Langkawi, langkawi, msia
5. astrid's jewelry boutique : Astor Bar, St. Regis, kl msia
This should have won a costume design award if it hadn't.
Still one of my favourite movies.
I love the Gossip scenes at the beginning.
One of the greatest movies for specific fashion on specific characters. And of course it Michelle Yeoh’s actual ring!!
Wow! the wedding gown is soooo exquisite one of a kind alluring.
I love the very cool fashion statements with Rachel’s character
An AMAZING movie and one of my all time favorites. They should have swept the Oscars. They were robbed!
Loved this behind the scenes look! Amazing how there were so many unique pieces, especially the one-of-a-kind items and pieces from the actors!
The dress is the true definition of couture.
wish that wedding dres had more screentime!!!!!!
Goosebumps! This is just incredible
@11:00 gemma Chan looking so gorgeous
What a fascinating insight. Whoa. Loved the movie. Iconic indeed.
This made movie more precious in terms of fashion and dressing sense of crazy riches. 😂
This movie was amazing I literally became obsessed ❣️✨
Dang they shipped in a watch so expensive it had it's own bodyguard. That's wild!
This movie was definite a wonderful statement of culture
Really great insight into the CRA fashions. Surprised it took so long to get this in my suggested videos, but glad it showed up.
I need that bag that akwafina had😱the map of Asia bag
They forget to mention a remarkable piece made by Michael Cinco which was worn by Kris Aquino as Princess Intan.
A delight. I can watch this movie on and on...
Loved this movie. Have watched it 3 or 4 times already.

Interesting story, nice movie 👍👏❤️
everything michelle yeoh had on was so elegant
Awesomeness job
Bottom line.. I LOVE THIS MOVIE 🍿🥰
Wow...they really are crazy rich asians 😊 I loved the movie!
Carven Ong is a wonderful designer 😍
Beautifully done!🤩🙏✌👍
Beautiful movie

The blue weddiing dress you are talking about is oh so similar to the ball gown from the movie A Princess For Christmas with Katie AmcGrath
I loved this movie!
Iconic
Rachel Rich stuff 🎉
Wow nice movie i love it.💕💕💕
Peik Lin and Astrid were my favorite characters!
Crazy Rich Asians is the perfect Movie about asian to asian bullying. All the maids are filipina.
I dont think so. They got Nico Santos for the movie.
Surely there are more powerful examples of asian-to-asian bullying than Crazy Rich Asians.
And Kris Aquino
The behind the scene shows how crazy rich the Asians are😂
So when is the sequel coming out?
haha wow I also shop at H&M haha
2 parte?????
Was the Mahjong scene shot in a Penang Peranakan House?

Its pretty ironic I'm watching this after I just found out Hanae Mori has died. And Issey Miyake last week. :(
Now the Sequels…PLEASE!
awaiting the sequel with faded dim sum breath…
I do like Kevin Kwan.
Why didn’t they have any focus on Astrid ????
Probably going to focus more on her story in the sequel.
The original blue dress worn to the wedding is horrible. A+ on the changes.
I actually prefer the Missoni dress than the Marchesa 😇
❤️❤️❤️❤️
❤️
I would've been so worried that they'd switch out the emerald ring with one of the duplicates.
That Missoni dress is…. I don’t know. 🤔
It's hard to pretend to be rich,,, though Rachel is rich intellectually, it's choking just to live in that kind of lifestyle.. :)
It made a difference that the costumes were not cheap knockoffs

ENOUGH ALREADY. WHERE'S CRA2?????
Abito con le mani dorate sul seno sarebbe meglio rifarlo
Highlighting Marchesa has not aged well
Why would they need a Cambodian gong?
Because they can😉
The Marchesa dress looks cheap like all Marchesa dresses. It is the uniform of the Harvey Weinstein girls and it shows.
