Thanks for the inspiration. I made a dust collector for the 180mm grinder out of a plastic bucket and tape. Works perfectly, zero dust in the room despite small and non remarkable rough vacuum cleaner. It's a one off job having no patience waiting for something ordered, only took 10min to make.
I tried putting the duct tape on the shroud and it works so good! That is a REAL pro tip! And i did A LOT of grinding. I filled my dust separator 8 times! And i used a 5 gallon bucket!
Did some self leveler, one spot I must have pushed a little when the other was drying so I have a small higher spot 2ftx2ft maybe 0.15” high. Going to grind it. How long do I have to wait for the leveler to set before grinding? Did the leveler today around 1-2:30pm so can I grind tomorrow morning or is it too soon? Or how long should I wait? Thanks again
Hi Steve, concrete should be drying well, because if it’s wet, your abrasive material will disappear. Next day is fine, just put air fan to that areas to be sure it’s dry completely.
Hi. Great videos. Question to you: I have a garage with concrete floor. Is it possible to use same type of grinder to make slope to drainage? This since I want to install drainage inntre floor to collect water from the my cars. My floor is made to be level and not with any type of slope.
I'm not entirely sure, as garage concrete tends to be quite sturdy. To determine if there is any slope, you should use a rope or laser to check each side. If necessary, you can add more concrete to create a steeper slope. However, this is just an estimate and should be confirmed before proceeding.
@MrYoucandoityourself Yep, I did that. But it cured so fast and I think I tried to go back and forth with it too much since I put too much down. My plan for the rest of the spots is to only put a smaller amount down at a time and not just what sq ft I think I need to cover. My floor on the original part of the house has anywhere from a 3/16th to 1/4 inch of a dip between 3 joists. It seems like every 6 to 8 feet it does it. And each spot runs the span of the joists. So I have to get the hang of this to make it good enough to put down my lvp. Ordering my grinder tonight so it is at the house and ready when I have my next 2 days off. Thank you again. Cheers.
When you grind with the dust shroud, the shroud stops you from grinding an inch from the wall. The shroud gets in the way. Do you take off the shroud to grind the last inch next to the wall? Or just leave it?
Can you do a video to teach us how to use the laser level? My biggest worry - I setup the laser anywhere on the floor and I’m not doing it right because I’m not on the high spot or the correct spot.
Hello. Thanks for the video. Is a 5 line laser enough for home DIY, or do you think it is better to spend more and have 16 lines? I'm not sure that people use all these extra lines. Thank you.
Yes, absolutely, I bought this laser only for leveling. If I can buy a laser only with the bottom transmitter, it's will be enough for me. 5 lines laser is very good and you don't need more.
I am selling Laser level and tripods. You can find link in description for this video. I ship parcels same or following business day to The USA and Canada only. Thanks!
How much water per bag do you use? I'm using 5.quarts and it's a little too thick for my liking. Anyway... Thanks for the videos. 30 year tradesman here and I still like to learn tricks off UA-cam. Good info.
So, how do I find a spot that is 1/4” lower than where the floor should be considered level? I bought a laser level and it’s like too tall. Do I have to dig out a spot on purpose? I have a lot of left over stamped concrete and my floor is like a roller coaster but I’m not sure where to start.
Depending on the model the bottom laser is about 1/4 inch from the floor. Using the vertical laser line you should be able to see the extreme high spots as the high spots will shadow any location directly behind the high spot.
How do I know if a store-bought laser level will show the hide spots like the areas your sanding? Every laser level I've seen....when set on the flor....just throws 2 line a left to right and top to bottom line and it's always like an inch off the ground. I want a laser level to sit on the floor and throw the line really close to the floor like yours. I'd order it online but I need it today...
The problem is that the bottom laser on nearly all of these units is 7-12mm above the floor. That's a shame because large tile need a floor leveled better than this. Yes, spacers and/or scales can be used, but it would be so nice if the unit sent out a beam maybe 3mm (1/8") above the floor, then you could grind or mark the floor as was done, but with a far tighter tolerance. Oh, well, someday.
Hi Kurt. This laser bottom transmitter 6 mm from the ground. I guess, this Idea what I showed in my opinion is great. For leveling compound it’s exactly what we need. We always not happy with anything. This is human truth. If you need 3mm you can measure it from the transmitter on the top of laser. Thanks for watching and commenting!
I need your help please , I need to grinder any master room I hired a contractor to add self leveling and he did. Very poor job I can email pictures .any help will be appreciated
This method can get you in trouble, not help level? You will grind until the green is gone means you will grind to the deepest hole" or is the green the raised part? You want to find the level of the old foundation and grind to this point, I would think. I think it can be helpful, and I think you have an EXCELLENT channel thats helped a lot. Just my note to not miss the overall application of this tool
@@juksbr6235 Yes, I was thinking if the highpart is gone, the laser will simply shine on a lower part..when do you stop? Or is the laser a thin line that can gauge? I am likely wrong on my assumption of it, but I wasnt sure from the video.
@@philindeblanc the green splotches indicate spots of the floor that are higher than the laser level itself. The laser is obviously above the surface of the floor by at least a few mm so any green spots are even higher than that.
