Just a heads up. If you are going to paint your container, you may want to go with a flat black primer that is meant to bond with plastic. Otherwise, it could end up peeling. Alternatively, you can just pull an old thick sock up over it to help keep the light out.

Hello, I am hardly on youtube and have never commented on anyone's page, but I recently came across your channel and couldn't stop watching. You are Awesome! I do not have a green thumb and do not wish to garden outdoors. So you've inspired me to try this method at home. I'm super excited to try and hope I achieve the same results...thanks🙂

Ball makes amber jars that block UV light and prevent algae growth. A 3 inch net cup fits the wide mouth jars perfectly and the lid ring can be used to hold it firmly (I also use hydroton to further prevent light from getting in). It is how I grow my super hots over winter. Small harvests all winter long, plus very fresh seeds for Spring. Thanks again KS for the great video!!!

Khang, this video is as enjoyable to watch as it is to follow along and learn! There are so many container options available, whether from up cycling a previously used container, through a stop and look around inside a dollar store. Your clear and simple to follow instructions work well for a classroom activity or for some short daylight activities in the home. In addition to being a fine grower, you are also a great teacher. -Bob...

Barley straw is a natural way to fight algae. On contact with water, the straw starts to break down, and as it does so it releases peroxides into the water which combat algae. Available in mini bales, or as a concentrated extract of barley straw liquid, it's a natural way of chemically fighting algae.

just FYI for anyone wondering, those soup containers are technically known as "deli containers". You can get them on amazon and they come in different sizes too: quart (in the vid), pint (half a quart), and cup (aka 8oz, or a quarter-quart). They're super handy and the lids are basically all interchangeable. It's the best way to store food in your fridge; and it's how restaurants do it, so that's good enough for me haha

Thus my plants are not doing well at all. They are pale and skinny!!! Now I have one question--- do I follow the same procedure when i plant outdoors---especially about the level of the water? Thanks .

Hi Khang, what I've learned about making water solution is to use vitamin C 1000ml in 100ml of water, and use 1ml per of the mixture per gallon of water, use an airstone for 10min, to neutralize chlorine and chloramines, lol actually learned this for making my compost tea

Doodah Gurl you make it, 1000mg of vitamin c treats a 100 gallons of water, so 100 ml of water mixed with 1000 mg of vitamin C, that’s how you make it, use the mix that you just made, use 1ml of solution per gallon. 👍

Hello Khang. I am a super fan of your videos and am hopeful that you can help answer a question about my pepper plants. I have planted bell, chili and habanero peppers. I have gotten the bell and habanero peppers to bloom but they never fruit. The chili peppers have never bloomed. I am in a cold climate and use an indoor grow tent woth grow lights. Do you think using a heating mat (the kind usually used for seedlings) might help these plants thrive? I am wondering if the plants aren't warm enough and that's why they aren't fruiting. My grow tent fluctuates between 59 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit at any given time. My plants are grown in soil, not hydroponically.
Thanks in advance for your help. You've been a major plant inspiration to me. Happy New Year and I hope to hear from you soon.
