@finderoftheway We use Rex seeds mostly, but do buy some cheap seeds too. The quick turnaround has more to do with the nutrient/fertilizer balance and environment.
Hi, i actually ordered a double bay nft package from cropking a couple of days ago!! Thanks for guiding me to them. Just a question...do you have any part of the day were you get some shade from maybe the sun setting?? I'm curious because I'm gonna be set up in an open paster with full sun all day long except I'm noticing as the sun is setting (6:00 pm) I'm starting to get some very lite shade spots. But it is October and once time changes it will be better also.
god they are so lucky id give anything to ahve the moeny to start up a hydroponic business i do it hobby scale and know with my knowledge and skill i could succeed on a large scale, but the cost is SOOO prohibiting to start up even thought it is SO much more guaranteed then traditional farming as long as you have the market
@Lklee08 Go to cropking.com or call them. They have different setups so they can meet your interests. You are welcome to visit and we can give you a tour of the greenhouse and what we do. There is not a lot of work, so i think we can give you a good idea without a long visit.
@dramey03 . Go to cropking.com and look at the standalone greenhouse. You can get an updated cost of the type greenhouse we have. They also have other types of houses and supplies.
There's an incredible place near Cumming, GA that does the same... The deliver greens to a great portion of the surrounding communities... I'll see if I can't find the name of the place again, I forget... Circle A Lettuce circlealettuce.com/ This is exactly what we need more of, community based agriculture/farming. We need THIS generation and the one coming up (children to Gen X) to take an interest in farming/growing their own food or creating a demand within their communities for good, wholesome, local grown foods. Any Georgia farmers out there, PLEASE take a look at the Farmer Veteran Coalition and the new program that the Dept. of Veteran's Affairs and USDA have come together to create. As a veteran with PTSD who is Georgia born and raised and with an extreme interest in farming/ag I'd like to see more opportunities available with more farms/farmers participating in the program trying to help put veterans to work again as veteran farmers and veteran ranchers.
I'm trying to get a commercial hydroponic lettuce business started here in south Louisiana, I live on a large farm that needs something like this, I've been successful on small scale set ups like this..but would love to go out and help you for a week to learn.?!?!
@Lklee08 You need to set your house up East to West so it'll get full sun all day, except in the late afternoon. The big door needs to face the east. Get with Jeff with cropking, they have all the answers to get the most out of growing.
We sent a sample of our water to a lab at clemson university and they told us how much of each type of nutrients and fertilizer we need to mix up to maximize our production.
We are starting a hydroponic farm to grow strawberry and lettuce. (two different greenhouses) Anyway you can share about your computer system for control of nutrients, temperature, etc? Appreciate your help on this.
Thank you for allowing our Cub Scouts to come out for a tour. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and hope to come again soon. Thanks again for the lettuce, it's great!
That's great Colby. More power to you. If the market continue to grow you might be building an additional house or two. Keep up the good work. Thanks for telling me about it.

There are no studies showing that hydroponic vegetables have more nutrition than soil grown produce. It is freshness that counts.

@nkjohri I talked to them last week and just got on their site, so yes they are still there. They may have been having some webpage issues.
That's great Colby. More power to you. If the market continue to grow you might be building an additional house or two. Keep up the good work. Thanks for telling me about it.
@Nkjohri yes they are still around, i just finished building a greenhouse purchased through them.
hearing he built it mainly on his own is awesome, id love to find out what the total investment cost was for startup
in hydroponics , what is the amount of NPK in the solution you use for lettuce ???
Hey, this is Chris...... Stephen's brother. Met you in 2009. Did you build more greenhouses yet?
In a 30 x 128 size green house how many lettuce can you grow at a given time?
Excellent package! GFB, you do great work!
Yes, it is from cropking. it's the standalone, 30 x 128 model.
The disadvantage of hydroponics is you must buy "plant food" or nutrition and supplements that are pricey.
