Thank you for your video truly liked it. I have an expedition where the actuator sits on top. There are no videos that tell me how to cut open its particular box but I’m still gonna try it cause I’m not gonna remove the whole dash again thank you sir.
great video. your the only one who shows the correct positioning of the blend door for ac and heat once installed. gonna go attempt to do this this morning. btw the part is only $19 on amazon
Hello. I know this is an old video so this is a long shot. But I have an issue doing this repair. I got the old blend door out but the bottom part of the hinge is stuck in the box. The piece that the actuator connects too. This is the piece that was broken, but it will not come out... I've tried a pry bar, pliers, and getting my dremel in there but it is in there good. It turns freely by hand but seems like the box goes over a "lip" on the bottom part of the hinge. Has anyone run into this before? I'm over 50% of the way done but have been fighting this piece of plastic for over an hour... Any insight would be appreciated. Thank you.
Those dash boards come loose so fast that these kits are useless to me. Pull the dash loose, sit it on the passenger seat. You dont even have to remove the air box, just pop the top cover off, slide the old door out and the new door in and reverse procedure to put back together. 2.5 to 3 hours tops.
@@JoesAutoElectric it did work thats for certain. I have always been hesitant to cut stuff out especially when they come out so easy. Now if that was a buick rendezvous I would have cut all kind of holes, those dash boards take forever and break down into 500 seperate pieces. In the end though the truck was fixed and the customer was happy. Thanks for making videos, am a recent subscriber, keep them coming. Between you, Ivan, Kieth, and Eric O. I gain a lot of insight into issues that we dont see at the shop I work at as the owner just turns down most of it.
@@JoesAutoElectric I noticed that you cut the opening behind the glovebox smaller than what I saw in some other videos which is good if it works, and I wonder about how far to the left to make the cut on the air box without disturbing where the blend door goes when it opens all the way, some people seem to have a problem getting the old blend door out from the top where the pivot point goes into the hole, also can that metal piece that goes in the bottom of the blend door be 180 degrees off when installed? any advise on this is appreciated. going to do one real soon.
Good job. This repair is in my future. Was not looking forward to the alternative of pulling the dash. Thanks.
Dremel tool is the ticket. The door kit 19.99 includes foil tape. Thanks for uploading.
helped me solve my problem, it was a sticking (inop) blend door actuator, thanks!
Great video...I have the same problem on my 97 F150. Planning on fixing it now that I've seen your fix. Thank you!

Well that may be so, but this is a great fix.

Just be thankful it's not a late model Camaro. Can't take it apart without first removing the windshield...engineering at its finest.
@@JoesAutoElectric have heard about those, fortunately we only have one customer that drives one, and I think she would trade it at that point.
@@ericgunter45 is it easy for 2003 dodge ram 1500, I have same problem!
Yooooooo! Joe😁😁 Will that work on 98 Ford Expendition...
You would have to look and see if they make the correct part. This was along time ago man.

Do I have to remove center console to get to the blend motor
I used a razor blade on mine a lot easier and cleaner. Super easy to do!

Dorman 902-220
My guess, 30 seconds in, Plastic teeth.
How are you gonna post this without showing how to even get to the blend door motor?
