Thanks for the video. New subscriber here. G’Day! I am currently considering a home brew fan dipole and have come across the folded dipole. One dude on youtube showed a comparison of a normal dipole and the folded one and it was impressive. That was one test. Thanks again. All the best from north Texas! 73 de KI5HXM
Thank you for this video. In S.E.Tennessee, I am experimenting with home brew antennas to do DX on 20, 40, and 80 meters. As I have some acreage (hectarage?), long wire antennas are easy to fit into the yard. But, getting the results you achieved with the Icom setup is very impressive - definitely worth considering. Again thanks. 73 KQ4IXD
Good Morning Michel , i am Suhail AKA (HZ1-si) from Saudi Arabia Thank you for the demonstration and review in such Day Time High Quality Video Hopefully you reveal more secrets about T2FD such best setup for DX North-South VS East-West .. Reception
Michel, nice antenna. I had a B&W antenna for a short time but lacked the proper space to mount it ideally. I ultimately had to settle for a vertical which worked out OK in the end. I also use a RigXpert (the AA-1400) and with the AH-710 you should have punched in 16 meg center and 28 meg range. You'd probably have SWR
Thanks for sharing your experience with this antenna. After all this time, are you still using the AH-710 and do you have any more thoughts to mention?
The Manual says it will do 1.9Mhz to 30Mhz, with SWR at Less than 2:1 ( 1.9 to 18 Mhz ) and Less than 2.5:1 ( 18Mhz to 30 Mhz ) But I’m yet to try it. I’ll let you know. As for 52Mhz, its not designed to go over 30Mhz but I can check it out on the Antenna analyser and get back to you. Thanks for watching and stay safe. de VK3HAU
It is purely a Money matter! If You c a n make your own full LOOP antenn on 80M (83,0m or 273feet) would function on from 40M down to 6M with reasonable SWR. [I eventuellt tried it on 160M but SWR n o t lower than 1:1,5] DO NOT FORGET MIDPOINT DC EARTH! *ALWAYS CONNECT ANTENNA CONNECTOR TO EARTH *BEFORE YOU CONNECT TO* AND ANY OF YOUR RADIO-GEAR, *DUE TO STATIC ELECTRICITY BUILDUP!*
Shortened = Only downsize is 18MHz or 17M band. With the fullsize abt 25,3meter(83feet) it wouldn't be any downsize! Most RXTX can handle up to a SWR 3:1(150OHMS) or use a ICOM AH-4/FC-40 if your transceiver doesn't have a internal tuner! *BUT: AH-4/FC-40 has to be taken inside by a threatening thunderstorm else it would go up in smoke or be really damaged by an EMP.* *AH710 ICOM; YA-30 YAESU* are both T2FD ANTENNAS! *LDG100; LDG200;LDG600 Automatic antennatuners!*

I've had one of these for a number of years. I really must make the time to install it.

@goinghomesomeday1 …thanks - interesting notes on your QRZ page! I have the Yaesu YA-30 T2FD but not quite enough room to put it up (yet).
how do we put grounding, lightning arrester in your set up for hf dipole antenna?
Did you check your 40 mtr dipole on 15? I always had good luck using my 40 more dipoles on 15 with vswr < 3.0:1. Usually less than 2.0:1.
Does this do 17,15,12 and 10 as well? What about 6m?

VK3HAU thanks! This antenna is 309.00 in the state’s. I’m thinking 6m might work with a roller inductor tuner but not efficiently.
Are you using a tuner at all? Would something like an AH-4 help a lot?
In this Video I was running a Icom IC-706MIIG with no tuner, but now I run a IC-7300 and it has a built in antenna tuner.
An AH-4 would little use at all with this type of antenna, it is designed to tune simple lengths of wire.
The rated output is 150watts. Is there any way to increase this to use an amp, ie 400-700watts?
I don't think so, the limitation is due to the 600ohm terminating resistor I Believe.
I just checked the terminating resistor, it is 1k ohms
отлично, спасибо за обзор!
Looks pretty good!
Why is a wire antenna $375?
It is purely a Money matter!
