  • This steam roller is allegedly manufactured in 1938 by the German engineering conglomerate Henschel and weighs 18 tons. I am a bit skeptical of the manufacturing year because Henshel produced these rollers up until mid 50s. It was used for road construction in Bulgaria until the mid-1950s, and by some coincidence, it remained in the halls of a road construction company for over 60 years. The information I found about it claims that it is the only one of these series to have survived to this day and even Henschel itself does not have such an old exhibit in its corporate museum. I am not sure about that and if anyone can provide more details about this machine, please comment or PM me.
The exhibit is located in Stara Zagora, Bulgaria. The steam roller was fully restored for the LOT 2 completion of the Trakia motorway, it took part in the opening ceremony on 1st of July 2012 under its own steam.
