This is why I always try to salvage parts off of changeouts and any parts I feel can be used on another system. For how long it can take to get a part in, having a backup until the actual part comes in can really help a customer with the stress of no heat. Especially if there’s kids in the house or elderly. My co workers say it’s not a good idea to reuse parts and always try to get oem but to be able to get them temporary heat until you can actually fix it is a huge relief
Sometimes you have got to go that extra mile, excellent service is rewarded with extra work. I find your work ethic and ability quite remarkable. Salutations from the UK.
Good job Ted, ethically handled and made sure it was safe before anything else. Went the extra mile on this one going through as many tests you had to just to make sir they have heat; but safely and ethically. Darn RPMs of the old one holding you up haha!
Interestingly enough, Ted professes himself as an hvac pro, which is very far from the truth. He's a philosopher, a song from an Era long gone, an ASMR wonder and an island of peace and normalcy in these crazy times. Stay awesome Ted
lots work but customer need Safe heat & boy looks Like that furnace swap will also be an doozy to get in place & sealed connected wired & fired Great Job & tutorial
There are a lot of technicians that would've thrown up their hands and said its to dilapidated even for a temporary repair its good to see there are still a few good technicians who will do what needs to be done to help keep people worm.
A question to all, I replaced the control board and the 2 roll out switches and the main thermal switch on my 20 year old furnace "International Comfort" 80% but now the fans start and stop for about a second even when the thermostat is off, did I cross a wire somewhere?
So, there are actually two variants of those transitions that Trane used for those furnaces, both of which should be available from your Trane or American standard supply house. I personally stock about two of each on my truck, might be worth stocking on your truck in case you ever run into a broken one again. Probably going to be more common as these systems get older in age.
I am going to replace the unit, but I saw no reason to leave the people freezing cold for several days until I can get to it. The homeowner asked me to determine the age of the unit…. Then it was decided by him to have us install a new one.
@@TedCookHVACEveryone is different. If that were my heater, I'd keep using it because it seems to be in very clean condition etc. Those inducer blowers need to be made with higher quality motors/bearings...often they fail much too soon.
You have one of the few decent HVAC channels left.
Thanks RJ !! You are one of the few who makes intelligent suggestions and comments.

You're a good person to worry over that old unit so the people can have heat. We need more like you!
that old unit will probably last another 10 years, while the replacement might make it 5 years without issues or leaks
You are a positive force for the HVAC industry Ted.
Solid commitment to the customer Ted, great detective work! Looking forward to seeing the new install.

MacGyver would be proud of you giving the client heat. Thxs for the vids!

That’s the difference between a tech and a mechanic/tech 🏆🏆🏆🏆
Going 110% for the customer guarantees getting the change out in the end! 💰💰💰
Never came across Ted before and the first 30 seconds of the video I knew he was a great guy cuz most won’t even go in that crawl space nowadays
I’m just another good ol boy heating and Air Guy, and I really do appreciate you watching!
Nice Job Ted! It’s always best to keep a adjustable pressure switch!
I took off the pressure switch and bridged around it because its the only way to make the God dam thing work for a season if you're lucky.
lots work but customer need Safe heat & boy looks Like that furnace swap will also be an doozy to get in place & sealed connected wired & fired Great Job & tutorial
Nice job. Those customers are lucky to have found you
I'd like to know where can you find this gentleman, we need more guys like him
Great video so much class at what you do
Good job Ted your the best!!!
Wow Ted I wish everyone repaired things with your mindset
Thanks for the tutioral. I learn more every video. Good Job
Even though you may not like the adjustable pressure switches it looks like it would be a good idea to have one on your truck.
Why a new furnace? you got it repaired :)
Thanks for putting a bandaid on that unit so they can have some heat until the replacement is installed. Good customer service.
Good job ... Got them heat & you got the replacement ... thx
That’s a good catch! I would have been looking at a blockage in the flue pipe. Lol
That was a great fix

Tenacious Ted! 👍
LOVE your videos!
What camera and lighhting setup are you using to record such clear and stable videos?!
Ted and Steve Lav don’t do it for the money. It’s passion
A interesting temporary repair Ted, i always look foward to that squeeky van door on arriving at your next job 👍 Au
We had a dead bird in one of our induced draft motors. The motor was fine once the bird was removed
Have you ever considered an LED headlamp & and a small magnetic tool.tray. I've lost a lot of hex screws working on my home unit as has my ac friend.
Did you check vent pipe for obstruction
Great job. Just like me I try to help out customers when I can also. A learning curve.

Hello , Mr.Ted ,could you tell us the inducer how much cost for part,if don’t mind
Your right about other service men you have gone beyond that most have done

Why not put the original inducer motor back on? Puting that NOS mounting piece on may have fixed everything.
Why didn't you have a jimmy wiggler in your pocket to jump the circuit?😄
Way too stay with it 😊
Do something temporarily until you get new unit. Nothing wrong with that good job Ted
Awesome job
Well, at least that jungle didn't have a casket in it; do you all remember that one?
That furnace looks like a 2002 year model looking at the serial number.
I’ve had the pressure tubing become blocked with dirt.
This shouldn't take but a few minutes, That's what Napoleon Said.
The flsmes rolled out so i knee the inducer was weak
You're wayyyy better than Mr. Replace the unit Mikey pipes

👍🏻👍🏻
I am looking for the BTU of my old Trane Gas Furnace, Model FFUB098 serial C79C-40647.
That’s a finished good job. Indulge yourself. Go have some Sushi 🍣 😎🤣
So , I guess you bested the first tech on price ?
The guy in New York would of pushed a Bosch Install lol
Yes 😅
For the sake of your knees, you should move to the land of basements
Time for some 3D printing ;-)
Could have tried mounting the original switch in the horizontal position so gravity would help the pull down. Maybe that would be enough???
It'll be 10 for a new inducer motor, but we'll throw in a new unit for free.
Sounds like it might need a New induced draft Blower.
