  • Welcome back to our series celebrating authors through readings of their most famous works! Things have taken a turn for the terrifying this week, however, as we continue our celebration of Halloween horrors…
    No Halloween would be complete without a ghost story, and Susan Hill’s The Woman in Black is a chilling example of the genre. First published in 1983, its success prompted playwright Stephen Mallatratt to turn it into a stage play - which has since become the second-longest running West End stage play, opening in 1989. The novel itself went on to become a set text for GSCE & A Level studies, and has been adapted into multiple radio plays; a critically revered TV drama, also in 1989; and a 2012 film starring Daniel Radcliffe.
