- Today I start the process of removing the paint on the GMC project truck. We uncover more rust and damage. #autobody #rustrepair #diy
Following along with loads of interest. Im doing a 58 right now, i had a twisted cab! Got it straighten so the doors now fit.
I took the doors off and got them blasted, so you could see all the issues, or pleasent surprises. Mine are solid, just shoping trolley dents. Very rare. Keep going, im with ya!
This truck is an Arizona truck so it’s pretty solid for a 67 year old rig. Thanks for watching good luck with yours.
a chemical strip is an option as well as mechanical. i have had great success in certain areas where its hard to get a grinder in. great job wally!
I’m going to look into it.
My 55 is so rusted and has so much bondo I am afraid if I use that tool there won't be anything left! I am going for the rat rod shop truck look anyway and am spraying it with rust textured paint to make it look even more rusty......good job Wally 🤠👍
Haha yeah better leave it alone. Thanks!
I have restored 3 trucks and I found sending the big parts to be bead blasted lets me know exactly what I am up against and it’s done in one day. The small parts I put in a refrigerator box and blast them using
Glass bead and a Le Mac bead blaster I do it that way so all the paint is removed in one or two days and I can concentrate on the metal work. Some times it is a little disappointing what I have to work with after it comes back. But that’s part of the job .
Thanks for the info!
Nice job, these old trucks alway hold surprises for you to discover. Carry on. 🫵🏼💯🆒
