- Thanks for watching! Can't wait to continue to watch this Horween British Tan Chromexcel continue to age. It's an absolutely beautiful leather! Let me know what questions you have.
Also - I tossed in a quick review of the Nicks Heritage Belt in the same leather. Let me know if you have any questions there also!

Wait till you get to about the 3-month mark you will not want to take them off that's about how long it usually takes me to break in a pair of Nick's
I could see it! Already pretty good after 25 wears.
You are a brave man breaking in an 8” pair of Nicks. I’m not sure if it’s the thickness of the leather or what, but that British Tan CXL looks much better on these than other boots.
Nah, bro! You could do it too! Just think about how much fun it'd be! :) But totally agree - this leather is much nicer than any CXL I've seen in person. My guess is thickness plus Nicks using a more stringent hide selection process.
I mean, it's cxl...
Overlander is the best boot Nicks makes ( in my humble opinion)... I've got a pair of "souped up" overlanders ( ND1's) and my foot gets sucked into these boots when I put them on. They fit like a glove now!
Awesome! Yeah - looking at the whole line up that's what I went with for my first, so I'm inclined to agree! I hope I get to that point. I'm sure I wilL!
Nice! I have heard the break in varies a lot depending on the leather you get. Glad it wasn’t too bad and also makes sense since it was Chromexcel! Great looking boots enjoy!
Bullseye! I meant to say something to that effect and forgot. Byproduct of filming of the cuff, I suppose!
You are going into the outback with those boots! I like them. And that belt can also function as an equalizer. Good seeing you man, thanks for the review and cool music.
Good to be seen! ;) Yeah - I think these are outback worthy for sure! Cheers, mate!
Very nice review -- I hope to try Nicks boots one day.
Thanks, Chalkboard! They are pretty dang good!
Thanks for the thorough review. I have a heck of a time finding boots that fit. I'm going to send in the Nick's fit sheet and other measurements tomorrow and see what they say.
I'll concur with the other posters that endorse a taller heel and internal arch support. With Nick's, I'm more likely to go for the Thurman55 or 11067 than the straight 55 last. I have a pair of Drew's in their modified 55 last that I adore. Like yours, break in was fine, they're built tough, and the leather is similar to Horween Chromexcel in Natural. I don't expect they have the trim and finish that Nick's do.
Even if you don't need them for work, eventually getting a pair like this from Nick's or another quality brand I expect will be something you'd appreciate.
Thanks for the thorough comment! Yeah - sounds like you are doing down the right path. They were very helpful with sizing for me.
Interesting again on the internal arch support and taller heel topic. I'll definitely keep all this in mind for the future.
Thanks!
Obviously, these are awesome boots. Most of us understand Nicks as soon as we put them on. Never look back. Enjoy!
Thanks! Yeah - I'm there! I once said in a video on the Grant Stone Brass Boot that I don't think anyone (like me) who works non-tough jobs should ever really spend this kinda money on a boot for the beefiness, but now I have changed my mind on that. :)
That leather is amazing. If you can swing it, a comparison video between Nicks and a pair of Bordon would be very cool. PNW vs Colombia
It's a good one! That's a good idea. I really want to do more comparisons in general, and think I'll plan to do that in the fall so I can get all my ducks in a row.
What’s the overshirt you have on? It looks lovely!
Thanks! It's the Long Haul Jacket from Taylor Stitch in Indigo Waffle. It's really nice and I wear it a lot when it's not too cold. taylor-stitch.nnh2.net/Y9aEgJ Here's a link for ya.
Nice review and great looking pair of boots!!! I agree with you that the logger heels are too intimidating and too much haha. These boots look beefy asf
Thanks, Ninja! Beefy AF indeed! I think in the future I could maybe get into a logger heel, I'm just not there yet.
My first pair of high quality handmade boots was a pair of Overlanders, too. I bought them for the same reason you did: I was scared of the 55 last. "Ew. That looks weird. Not my style. No." 1 year later I now have a pair of 55 lasted boots and they have ruined boots for me. When I'm not at work I can get by on almost anything, but I won't work in anything that isn't made on the 55 last anymore. The benefit and comfort to my feet after 8, 10, or 12 hours is just too great to ignore. Try it if you can, you might be surprised at how fast they change your mind. I will say, the arch does require a bit more break in, but if you are on your feet all day and your arches already hurt, you will absolutely love that pain, strange as that sounds. 🙃
Interesting! I appreciate you sharing. Perhaps I can try a 55 in the future. Given my office job, though, I'm not ever on my feet for too long on boots and I'm lucky in that regard because most of the boots I've tried have been pretty comfortable for my use. Cheers, mate!
@@rockymtnstyle An easy one to try is a 55 with a wedge, as opposed to a 55 with a big heel.
Lookin good 👍
Thanks 👍
Did I hear "break in", "durability" and "one month" in the same sentence? That's comical.
Perhaps you missed the part where I said I couldn't comment on durability since I've only had 'em a month! Lol. And break-in is relative... maybe you have soft feet, I dunno. Cheers, mate.
I have definitely broken in boots from Nicks/Whites in a month. Breakin as ending on with no hot spots or pain points. Nothing crazy about that.
