You’re a jolly little fellow walking thru the streets of the ghetto like its mister rogers neighborhood with your cameraphone in hand scanning the scene saying what you say in a nonchalant way
@@epictroy it doesn't have that high of murder rate if it wasn't that bad. my sister used to live out there.. it definitely gets busy... not sure what you're on.
They may be dangerous streets, but I still dig that architecture!!! It's a real urban neighborhood unspoiled by gentrification, and I LOVE IT!!!! Block cleaning day sounds terrific! Brings neighbors together to do the block some good. Looks like there's a need of it in this neighborhood. I don't think at this particular point in time with all the violence, unrest and distrust that anyone's much interested in doing supportive things. That sure goes in my own neighborhood. Everyone's pissed off about everything and takes it out on one another and the environment. By the way, I like your on-foot tours because you really get to see the streets up close and personal. I love looking at the houses, alleys, stores and buildings close up. I also enjoy not seeing too many people around; you get to see the neighborhoods without distraction. You mentioned daylight savings; it's on Sunday the 14th of this month. I'd love to see the nightlife!! I'm a night owl, result of years working awake-overnight shifts in group homes. Whoa, I love that old school building!!! I hear you about the too-cold weather and the hot-humid weather. Here in MN, we just got over a month of sub-zero temps, HATED IT!!! BAD WALKING WEATHER!!! The hot-humid weather, forget it, lock me up and throw away the key! A restaurant called The Shaking Crab ... hmmm. Hey, you worked in Social Services, Toon?? ME TOO!!! For 30 years!! SPMI adults, mostly. 5th Street and vicinity looks like it was a big industrial area at one time - maybe still is. Oooohhh, dig that classic Mustang on Lawrence Street there!! I remember a wall of graffiti in Lynn, MA, where I lived for several years; someone drew a great big Woody Woodpecker holding a syringe!!! I don't think that indicated diabetes ... GOOD VIBES here, you ain't kiddin'!!! I love these tours of yours!! I watch them and put in chats as I watch, comment as I watch. You really make viewers a part of it all, and that's a rarity! Disgusting street , nobody has dignity filthy...coordination to clean it...man. folks are not disgusted enough to do what you described in your street. Live is a challenge, you of all folks know that! Holding one accountable for the consequences of their decisions they become ADULTS ! It 's just not important enough for these folks to own their S##t in my opinion.
Thanks Toon215, I see that some streets folks care about their streets while others seem not to be bothered to make an effort. In my opinion it condones filthiness which children see and live with the consequences. As a parent, one must set an example to the kids, teaching values, tough love! I never met a person that was happy that didn't get taught Values! Your Pops as you mentioned did show you lots of love, it shows up every moment you share with us folks across the globe. One of my favorite quotes is "if you are going to bitch, you gotta pitch". I have spent considerable effort to help folks, mainly kids through an Olympic sport to develop self esteem, self confidence, and respect for themselves and others. Participation in sports is an important avenue for child development as it builds a solid foundation from which to develop of a good citizen who cares about his fellow humans. Teaches values and hold participants accountable for their behavior! Thanks for doing what you do, giving the world a view of a special place Philadelphia, the birthplace of America!
There is some great footage on youtube ( you may already know ) of lisa left eye lopez dancing in that gazebo in hunting park before she was famous, filmed by her then boyfriend todd jones in 1989 . He sadly died a few years ago by suicide by cop.
Nice work. Me personally, I'm not into the graffiti culture. People have to stop littering and leaving trash all over. Dumping . Looks awful. No neighborhood pride. Lazy. Kennsington is one of the worst.
Its not hard too sort the litter out the city just needs too invest in a fleet of streetsweepers an do a rota of once a week for all areas plus it creates jobs and boosts the economy
