Really digging catching up with these guitar vids! :)
Nice one! Many of forgotten I even did!! ☮️
Real nice Pete sounds fantastic thanks for the tutorial👍😇🎶
Cheers my friend.
You can pretty much design everything with the onboard amp sim. I swear I use the Surf Guitar in half my music. There is also a million plugins out there. This looks exactly the same as in Logic Pro. You've shown just how easy it is to roll a song out in under 20 minutes. The next section is "Where do we go from here, where do we go..." Kudos, Pete
It’s a good question! Bring on Songtember I say. Let’s get our mix on. Hope you’re doing well.
I’ve connected my iphone to a orange crush mini to a very cheap SG and it sounds amazing 🤩
Nice!!!
Hey :) know this is an old comment but could you tell me how to connect an iPhone to the orange crush mini, I wanted to use the pedals from garage band. Do I need an iRig??
@@anasantiago3173yes you need it.
Thanks so much Pete!!

So helpful. Much appreciated.

Cool guitar feature
Some solid tones.
Thanks a lot will try these outttt

I purchased a Mesa boogie app…very very sweet!
Oh yeah? Very cool - one I'd be keen to check out too.
Words to live by!😅👊👍
More fuzz? 🔥😄
Great demo! Is it possible to tweak cabinets and microphones on the amp sims in Garageband ios? Or just on the computer version?
Just the Mac version. Though Logic Pro for iPad has the full Amp Designer. logicipad.com/
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete. Logic is really making it hard to resist the temptation…
I love your videos! Question on the 'Drummer' in GarageBand iOS. Does it respond to the rhythm of your guitar? My friend uses something (I think it's EZDrummer3) with his PC DAW. I wondered if the GarageBand drummer is actually influenced by the music we create - who is following who?!
Sure does! GarageBand iOS has an excellent follow feature. Check it out here. ua-cam.com/video/QXgk-NIj7OY/v-deo.html&feature=shares
@@PeteJohnsMusic Wow! Game changer! Thank you! I just keep learning so much from your channel - ten years using GarageBand and I’d only scratched the surface.
Don’t ditch Kyle you know the life expectancy of drummers is very short ☹️ great informative video as always
😄🤘
Slightly longer, if they don’t play for Spinal Tap…
Here is my issue: I only use garage band on iphone outside i use the irig2. As long as I use the head phone it works great, but if I try using an outside speaker to for example jam with someone there is lagging and it is not possible to play. Auxiliary speaker you know that would work and solve that issue. To be clear I do not use bluetooth, but the plug in headset monitor from the irig2.
Hey there. Any hard wired speaker will work well but Bluetooth does have latency/lag pretty much built in unfortunately.
Actually the issue is with wired speakers. Do you have a brand you sugest I could try?@@PeteJohnsMusic
Hi Pete!! Thankyou for good video. I want to buy this Studio Live Today T-shirt, but I am in korea. How to get this T-shirt?
They are shipped from the US and UK but do ship worldwide. Http://studiolivetoday.com/merch
Excellent, I’m looking for a slide guitar sound. Any ideas?
There’s not much that GarageBand can do directly. I would look for loops or samples somewhere like this. ua-cam.com/video/Y6S_Epxi2DY/v-deo.html
Thanks Pete!!
Hi Pete, I have a question. Does the sound come from the iPad/iPhone speakers or would I need to use external speakers?
Hey there. You can use either. Or headphones. Whatever your audio output is set as.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you so much for your help!
I just can’t deal with the monitoring difference in sound when recording. I use the Amplitube amp plugin.
Fair enough too.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Never noticed it.
Great and many thanks!!
You’re very welcome my friend. I hope you get value from the other videos here on the channel and consider subscribing. 👍
I double track my guitars but when I do it, volume becomes too loud so I didn’t know if it was a common thing that people will roll back the guitar on each track 50% or not.
Yup. Totally. Once I go to mix, if I go for a “walk of guitars”, they’re all right down at 30-40% of original volume.
Hiya Pete, quick question, can i just use an irig with ipad, or will i need an interface? Cheers man
You can use an iRig as long as it supports whatever connector your iPad has. For example, you can’t use a headphone socket iRig if your iPad only has lightning or USB-C. studiolivetoday.com/gear
@@PeteJohnsMusic Thanks Pete. Yours are the best vids on here, so need to ask you another question please?! Not happy with my vocal recording on present limited set up. Rode nt-usb directly into iPad Pro. Using GarageBand. What can I change? Better mic? Audio interface? Or iPad Pro not good enough for pro results? Thanks man, I really appreciate. Sean
Hey I just bought an iRig duo pro and I clicked the jack icon to turn on the monitor setting and it doesn’t appear.. is there a setting I need to turn on? It’s brand new and I got it too work once and now the monitoring and noise gate buttons have disappeared
Hey there. It’s a little hard to troubleshoot from afar. Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
i have single channel interface and its default routed to input 2 so i need to set it whenever i change amp, how can i map my interface to input 1 so i dont need to change it? where is this in settings?
Hey there. Only way really is to set up a template that has tracks already set with Amps and set to input 2. ua-cam.com/video/wJ-LrSaIvEE/v-deo.htmlsi=pi7SiKtVHiXmg7X0
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you, i noticed Bandcamp software has few overcomplicated and non-intuitive menus, this should be per project setting and not per track
Can I use the virtual guitars in garage band to record to your daw on your pc ? Why ? because I can solo much better on the hard rock guitars found in gb.
You’d need to either do it in iOS and then export as an audio file, or use and audio interface and send the output from the iPad/iohone. Http://studiolivetoday.com/garageband
Is it possible to just record the guitar clean and then selectively A/B different amps/effects after the fact so you can decide later how you want to guitar to sound once all the other instruments are in the mix?
Yup. Any amp sim that uses AUv3 or the stock amps in GarageBand can be changed after the fact. You can even just record using a clean track and copy over on to an amp track afterwards.
Tried doing this today with an ipad and an irig, sounded terrible and i could hear my voice if i talked while playing the guitar, would it be the built in mic thats picking up my voice?
Maybe? Have you tried just recording clean? Much depends on what iRig device you're using. Some have better isolation than others.
@@PeteJohnsMusic Hey man thanks for the reply, long story but it's sorted now.
Great videos man
*I love the fact your channel pops up whenever I need help. However… I keep having a problem where if I’m using amplitube in my iPad GarageBand, it sounds like I don’t have an IR because it sounds very tin-like. 🤔 Any ideas? Maybe you can link me to one of your vids if you made a video already.*
I haven’t used Amplitube in quite a while sorry so not sure. Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
FYI: AmpliTube combined with either Logic or GarageBand has always been rather dicy much of the time. I keep one preset of a guitar sound that took months and months of monkeying around with to get it to work correctly and sound good inside of Logic / GB… now I can just pull it up as a preset, but to start from scratch again would take a lot of time to replicate. I don’t have that kind of issue with other amp sims, just AmpliTube… which is a shame since AmpliTube has the best sounding sims in my opinion.
Does garage band iPad work with other amp sims like tonestack pro, amplitube 5 etc
Hey there. Yes, anything that supports inter app audio or AUv3 will work fine.
@@PeteJohnsMusic thank you,
How do you turn amp off for IOS. I have my preamp pedal going into audio interface going into iPad and for the lufe of me can’t turn off the amp on GarageBand
Hey there. Just set up a clean audio channel instead like I show in this one.
ua-cam.com/video/rXios5YTdRc/v-deo.htmlsi=A_kv0AI1K1-0V-vh
Or this one. ua-cam.com/video/NGASmnMj9-U/v-deo.htmlsi=0NpGuPquyzK92Zul
A tik tik sound comein when i play bass guitar using amp in live stage how to stop tik tik sound
Might be a ground loop from the power supply? Try a different power outlet or maybe consider a power conditioner.
Hey I’m late viewing this video teacher 🙏❤️😢
All good m’dudie.
Is there a delay when monitoring?
Small amount of latency but nothing more than most interfaces and setups.
When I click input settings it’s just auto and noise gate
Maybe you don’t have a multi channel interface plugged in? Maybe ask over at the Create Record Release Facebook group at createrecordreleaae.com, or the Discord group here - studiolivetoday.com/discord.
Are garageband amp sims any better than bias fx2?
Generally not. It’s all pretty subjective and comes down to what you want and need. Some folks don’t ever need to buy any paid amp sims and use the free ones forever.
That doesn't mean Bias isn't endless fun. The difference is subjective, just different. Then there's getting Bias into GB...
I’ve played with AmpliTube, bias, and the stock sims. I think bias is the best, especially for clean/wet tones. I’ve had good luck constructing some overdrive tones I like by using a clean and crunchy amp in parallel.
Ok so where do I go to know which channel I’m on, where is the sound coming from, headphones? Speakers? Amp?
Check out all my GarageBand tips at studiolivetoday.com/garageband
The problem I have is that when I try to record the guitar track it only records from my michrophone meaning my breathing and surroundings is in there and the guitar track gets all echoey… Please if someone can help me with this I’d be really greatfull!
That’s really odd? Maybe check out this video. ua-cam.com/users/live9qNYoXebWwY?feature=share
@@PeteJohnsMusic Does it have something to do with not having a physical guitar to record with. I just use the in built touch guitars. Like said though it sounds really bad after recorded. I’ll check out the video though!

Your not a fan of tremolo like I’m not a fan of flange. Just can’t vibe with it.
Haha! I see what you did there. I think. 😄
@@PeteJohnsMusic haha. I can’t get anything over you Pete.
The Best song that uses tremolo is Bring On The Dancing Horses.
