    Bookish Theories (UA-cam channel) has a brilliant explanation video for this song/MV. She does meticulous research and her explanation for this video almost made me cry it was so deep yet relatable. But basically she’s saying that these are all different versions of himself that could be and yet he doesn’t feel comfortable in any of them and keeps trying to leave through the door but when he does he just finds another life that could be his but doesn’t quite fit until he sees a girl that looks as out of place as he is and he follows her. Eventually they both go out the door and wander through endless realities looking for the one that fits them. There was a lot more in the explanation video. As you would expect from RM every little detail has meaning or is a metaphor for something. Highly recommend to anybody to watch it.

      @@alexray_ I was thinking a bit in the same vein. Namjoon had talked about the multitude of universes and pathways out there before. I think that those are glimpses of the many Namjoon's in the many different universes. Namjoon kept trying to get thru that door because even if those were nice for a time, they weren't his universe. I believe the girl might be the anima to Namjoon's animus. Carl Jung, who Namjoon has read and BTS used his philosophy to give us Map of the Soul Persona and 7, says that every person has a male and female "psyche" which is anima and animus. I think she represented the anima psyche of Namjoon, trying to find THEIR universe as well. That's why they were content and left together because they needed to get "home" so to speak.

    I saw this video as RM feeling out of place in what we view as "normal" life, socializing, having a family, different relationships, etc. He is lost in trying to figure out what his life should be and he feels isolated. Then he sees the woman in the room with the plant and she is also lost in life and he gets to know her and finds that he is not alone. Spring was always there, the good times were always there, as you said, he just needed to shift his perspective. Now that he knows he is not alone in this, he starts to enjoy his life as it is, instead of trying to figure out what it should be. "I see you come back to me" feels like he is singing to himself. Like he is coming back to himself after questioning his sense of self, his life choices, he is feeling more centered and accepting of himself. At the end when they walk through the door, they are breaking away from the mold of "normal" and just living their lives and enjoying each moment as it comes. The infinite multiverse stretches giving us the perspective that there are infinite choices that we make and instead of worrying about each choice, we should just enjoy the present without worrying about how others perceive our life from outside of it.

    I read someone mentioning that "She" could be his Anima..? Makes sense because he finally is Happy after he sits and talks with "her" on the couch... AND she is looking for him, almost as if to tell him it's okay to find/discover ALL the sides of himself .....?! Thoughts?
    Carl Jung:
    described the animus as the unconscious masculine side of a woman, and the anima as the unconscious feminine side of a man, each transcending the personal psyche.

      Good to see you again Alex!! You know how deep RM can go, right? I thought he was like an onion peeling away the layers. But here is from someone "in the know". Very interesting and definitely RM!
      Credit to owner.
      Minha is a librarian in the MV. The house is a library where Namjoon goes door to door from book to book. These each rooms are individual books. Each book takes him to a different environment in a different situation. All these books take him to those times of his life like: childhood with parents, love life, married life, drinking with friends, failure
      At the end we see Minha leading him inside what is essentially a bookshelf and Namjoon sees the failures of his own life in the books inside.
      Those who have read the book The Midnight Library will understand this whole thing. This is a book that Namjoon has read, liked and recommended. The final scene resembles a bookshelf in the Midnight Library where each book depicts protagonist Nora Seed's regrets.
      Nora is a 34-year-old woman with depression who wanted to commit suicide. She passes between life and death. And that place is called midnight library.
      We see Joon running from door to door in a corridor. He is given one more chance to go through his penances. The point is, "If I hadn't done that, maybe this wouldn't have happened to me." After reading the books, entering those rooms, Namjoon realizes that nothing more could have been done in this situation than what he did.
      He finally realizes that he is the best version of himself and has nothing to regret. That's what we see at the end. Namjoon is getting out of those situations with librarian Minha. Then he came back to his present situation, hanging out with those friends and completely clear minded. This means he has no regrets or regrets.
      By "Come back to me " he's calling his own old real self back to Himself and he finds himself back.
      If you think about it, the song is very healing....hugs to you. Can't wait for the new song!!❤

    Love this. Like BTS led the way to show a group of artists, industry outsiders can do the impossible and make it big not obeying the rules. RM proves you dont have to sell out. You can be the artist you want. My theory in RMs work every mix tape and album is different from the last. His first self titled mix tape the track DO YOU( the song that says clearly he refuses to be labelled or boxed into any genre). He is continuously pushing boundaries. In a way thats what is also happening in the mv. RM wanders around depressed confused and unhappy through all these potential different lives and expectations never being comfortable. We see this has been so since he was small. At some point he becomes more comfortable in each scenario after being united with his other half/ self, and he can be more comfortable with others. But he still doesnt stay, he moves on finds himself and accompanies the woman( his other half Jung or Plato?) out of the maze of societies expectations to find non of it's real. In the light he sees its all fake sets designed and created by someone else. However with RM there is always light at the end. Hope of better futures now he can see what life is about, he is free of those boxes. There are several clues for ARMY buried within the MV. Pain Devine. During a conversation piece with Pharrell Williams they discussed judging lyrics by how painful they are to produce ...pain divine, devine inspiration?

Also his acting that final beautiful smile, he looks so relaxed and happy yet he breaths once deeply, as if that's it he's ready, he's letting go and the second point we briefly see the woman bathed with purple light. Rappers love doubles. There are 2 meanings here the other is he is accompanied on his journey forth by comforting ARMY. His strength and companion.

I still listen to Indigo all the time and it’s probably a top five album of my life. I’m a very Bonnie Raitt, Keb’ Mo’, blues type person so when you said how much you loved Namjoon’s I felt that. His voice is my comfort. I don’t know if you’ve listened to his mono mixtape, but it is full of experimental, comfort music like this. I really wish you the best and will be sure to check out your music. Also, I’m gonna follow you today. Namjoon is the ANTI TIKTOK artist! i dont believe this has to do with a romantic releationship at all. i think its like an eternal battle with himself, what others expect of him like being married and having kids, what the industry and parents may expect from you. and then him understanding himself and that it ok to be ok with what he thinks is right for him at that time in his life. at least thats what i understood. i believe this is indie pop.

      I think it's not wanting to comply to societal expectations (drinking, smoking, being a husband, a father, a parter, an outgoing child) and him feeling as an outsider, not fitting in. You see him being confused, depressed , unhappy in every situation at first. Than he sees the third girl that reminds him of himself. She's the female version of him. She's also confused and struggling with life. When he realizes that he's not alone with his feelings, that a lot of people are struggling with life, he starts to accept himself and he realizes that he doesn't have to fit in/put hiself in a box. Now he can be himself and be content in the moment (in every situation).He found his Spring (symbol for new beginnings). He came back to himself (mentally)/back by his senses. Now that he's confident en has the courage (represented by hi taking a deep breath) he can open the door and walk through life happily and fase the many choices to make in life and the different consequences they have (represented by the maze of rooms). The overall theme is self-acceptance, being happy in the moment and his journey to self discovery (his search for what he wants in life).

    Hi, i am back. Good reaction, ty. Nice song too. Like this folkie vibe. Old school but not. This one makes us think. All those rooms buildings for me is the maze of life. They can also be his mind. All the what if's. Army on twt saw connections to other member's solo work's and that is so cool. The director of this is a genius. Others think this is RM's way of showing us how he overcame his mental block. He found his inspiration again. Sweet. The mandarin is a Suga reference. Hugs. Love u! #YouAreEnough --NY USA 2019 Army💟

    Namjoon saying "you don't have to be, you don't have to be the anything you see; try not to be, try not to be the someone in the sea" for all of us who struggle with fitting in with the societal standards, the constant pressure to prove something, to be something, to do something. He tells us to be us for us, everything, everywhere, all at once. To be authentic to the countless selves we have within us even the imperfect ones.

    Yes, this song is a pre-release. He actually performed this song at Suga's final concert in Seoul for his tour last year. There will actually be 5 total music videos for his album. The cut is actually real.The Spotify version of this song is over 6 minutes long. If I'm not wrong it's the longest song BTS or a member of BTS has ever done.

    Yeah, he hit his face on the camera in the first take of the first scene - and had to get 5 stitches. :P

    My theory is that these are all different events that occurred to him in various timelines of his life: he was a child to his parents, a friend in a group out partying, a boyfriend in a turbulent relationship, and then a husband with a beautiful family. Throughout, he felt like he never fit perfectly into any of these roles. In his journey of self-discovery, he encounters another human, Kim Minha, who is as lost as he is in the maze of societal roles and expectations. However, after they have a conversation on the couch, he realizes that it's not just him; this is the reality for most people, and life is never going to feel perfect. Cut to him being transported to these scenarios again, but now he is happy because knowing he is not alone in the journey makes him appreciate life and its imperfections more. In the end, it feels almost like an enlightenment where he is freed from the shackles of pursuing a perfect life and now understands the true meaning of living. You see him walking through the forbidden door with Kim Minha, both now happy and content.

    Watching this alongside you, it reminds me of the midnight library (a book that Namjoon has said he loves) that dives into how every decision we make can change the course of our life.
    @paci79 said on 5/10/24
    Personally I think it's about being more than what you thought you could be.
    At first he was 'trapped' in a certain set of rooms - one where he was a friend, one as a family man, one as a child and one as a boyfriend (so basically all the traditional roles that adults are supposed to fulfill) - but he wasn't happy about any of the situation he found there (maybe bc he felt like he didn't belong), until he met that other woman who seemed to be running around the rooms as well (my theory is that that's actually him/part of him). I think that woman represents the acceptance of "I can be those things IF I choose to - ", which is why we then see him back in all those scenarios we saw him in before, but this time he's happy bc he actual chose to be that and feels like that is the right thing for him. And then him walking out the door of that certain set of rooms he was confined to (bc remember, that door was locked before, he was trapped in the rooms and scenarios that we saw) is supposed to say "but I don't HAVE to be any of that, if I don't want to - there is so much more I could be" (that 'so much more' is represented by the endless amount of rooms we see in the end, a life full of possibilities without having to be what everyone/society expects you to be, if you don't want that).
    @roguechevelle said on 5/10/24
    I really like your theory and it's a more advanced thoughtful version of what I initially thought. My mind didn't go to time skipping like others but rather trying different rolls in life or showing up in someone else's life (kinda made me think of Quantum leap just showing up in someone else's body lol) but moving on to the next room not feeling like you belong or are content to be there or comfortable. There are probably so many ways to interpret this which feels very RM. I mean we may find out all these MV's are gonna be connected like one long movie or fit together like puzzle pieces or they might be completely self contained the possibilities are endless.

    I'll read all the theories everyone has now. My mind is tired of thinking about what's happening. I'm just here for the vibes at this point Namjoon being a girl dad first is sweet. It just reminds me how he bought baby shoes because he found it cute. Yes someone mentioned we got a spoiler of this song when yoongi brought him out at the D-Day concert he performed this for us.
    There is also a book called midnight library namjoon read during in the soop I believe which I think sort of inspired this mv. This is the summary of it. The novel follows a 35-year-old British woman unhappy in her dead-end life who is given the opportunity to experience lives she might have had if she had made different choices.

    Namjoon’s vulnerability is so moving. We witness his soulful rumination on the various twists and turns that his life could/would/should have made. And at the end his guide, which turns out to be him, opens the ‘door’ freeing him.
