What kind of pressure were you experiencing from the label? At the time, were they forcing you to make radio hits?
(Pauses) Well, there’s only so much you can do with me. I am what I am, and I know that on “Lucky” the song “Breathe” was not my song at all. That was one that the record company came to me and said, “Look, we think this could be a hit.” I did something that I will never do again. I like the song - it’s a great song - but I really felt like I was doing something I didn’t wanna do. I got cancer afterwards and went, “Never again.”

I grew up with the song writer, Ryan Jordan, in St Louis. We are actually 20 minutes west in St Charles, MO. Before Greenwheel, they were Some Holiday but that name was already taken so they had to rebrand to Greenwheel. I still have their early Soma Holiday CDs and remember them playing our homecoming back in 1997. Such an underrated band, sound, singer, and writer IMHO
Didn’t know it was not written by Melissa. But that is one of my favorites. It has helped me move forward when it hurt more than many.
That was beautiful
A well written song is timeless.
wow! what a phenomenal song! I didn't know you did not write the song. Wow! Its a fantastic song! It fits you, and I love that song as well! Can't wait for more! Thank you!
Thanks Angie for posting this! Love Melissa and never got to see her live. I bought tickets in 2004, but then her cancer hit. I would still love to see her live. I hopefuly will start doing drum covers later this year....and there will be a LOT of Melissa's songs covered.
Nice cover. ME can sing anything. Rockin' the 12 string.
Lady. I love your voice!
That my song. Had lung cancer
Very well done....i do this and it comes out not bad for a male voice exept for the high note midway....but that was a great rendition
I understand how you feel as an artist, but you didn’t sell out by covering this tune to produce a hit; if anything you probably gave exposure to the other band. That being said, YOUR version is actually far superior to the original!
I'd like to say it helped Greenwheel but hardly anyone knows they wrote this song. Its an even bigger shame not many people know their music cause it really is good. Even though they songs in major movies and media they fizzled out around 2006.
I get what your saying. But they made you sell out....i get why you did and I’m not criticizing you for it...your awesome....and u make this song awesome...
but you are your own songs ......its your life through words....its ur legacy 😀 not this song
