The best theory I’ve seen/came up with: Alex seemed genuinely in love with her, while Ezra couldn’t figure out what they were and eventually did see him as an obstacle. I think she took him for a ride in order to get him to admit that it was purely physical and futureless. Alex would have refused to do so. It was that moment that set her off.
I think a lot of people like to attribute motives to these crimes that are “rational,” in the sense that they are means to a chosen end. But I don’t think they’re like that. I doubt she thought this out to win back her boyfriend. She clearly thought of herself as a constant victim, with her many rape allegations that all turned out to be false. She herself and others felt Ezra was mentally “hot” and unstable in the days leading up to it. I think she just made herself a victim in that moment like she always had, and delusionally set herself off.

You can feel the dull point whenever someone plays at having complete amnesia like this. It doesn’t work that way. That’s a pop-culture thing. You would only really get this kind of amnesia (anterograde amnesia) by taking a lot of GABA drugs like benzos or alcohol. They do this to prevent people from remembering the trauma of outpatient surgery, like LASIC.

Looking at the footage, her glasses seem to impose _suspiciously_ little geometric distortion for someone who claims to be this extremely myopic. She would have to have way thicker glasses than I do (I would guess at least -6 dpt or so?), and mine would be enough to show the effect. So I would be inclined to believe that she made this up to support her image as the helpless victim.
A fascinating young woman... well, in the sense that a dancing cobra is. She can recount what is supposed to be a sexual assault in minute detail while showing no emotion whatsoever. How likely is that? She would have to be extremely cold-blooded regardless of whether her account is true or not. Really smells like psycho.

  • @TinyGhosty

When someone lies about sexual assault they only cause more issue with actual victims being believed and supported. She is of course mostly horrendous for killing someone but secondly for falsely accusing people of sexual assault. Even though research has shown that false accusations are a small minority, these kind of high profile cases only encourage people that jump to blaming victims and calling them liars.

Every awful detail was choreographed. Sick. The sentencing portion of the trial where the judge spoke about his reasoning for her sentence was really powerful. Highly recommend. Also the portion where Ezra talks on the stand about why she chose the last name “McCandless” she gets it wrong and says it’s written BY McCandless. And her poor reading fluency when reading ANYTHING aloud from the stand drove me nearly insane. She thinks herself an intellectual and near genius but she nothing but a fake and a farce.

I dated a girl who was borderline like this. Me and another guy who both thought we were her 'boyfriends' and then another guy who thought they were just seeing each. Long story short, my counter-part boyfriend found out and told me and the other guy.
The other guy just wanted to wash his hands of her and not get involved any further as there wasn't a lot of history between the two. Understandable. So me and the buddy collect all her shit from our places meet at her place and be "we know, fuck off, we're done."
Both of us had only been with her for a few months so it wasn't so much heart breaking as it was just kind of humiliating. The whole thing was supposed to take 30 seconds, as long as it take to knock on a door, drop a box on a door step turn around flip the bird with a few choice words and wham bam thank you ma'am, done-zo and out. We both ended up standing there in absolute amazement for about 10 minutes as this girl just came up with the most elaborate bullshit as to how it was our fault and our demands for exclusivity forced her into the arms of another guy. It was like watching a movie, she just made it so poetic it would of actually been impressive had I not been one of the characters in her drama.
Like she got so emotionally distraught me and this dude both looked at each other like "Yeah bud it's about beer o'clock, lets fuckin' go." we go grab some beers with each other and find out this girl had been pretty much using us as 'the abusive ex boyfriend' in both versions of her life. So when one of us would do something she didn't like she'd make up some elaborate story. For example this one weekend she just decided we should go stay in a hotel in Toronto...first off, we live in Toronto, 2nd hotels are expensive as fuck and I was the only one working and it just wasn't something I was going to do spur the moment.
This fucker told the other boyfriend that I (As the ex several years prior) dragged her to this hotel and r**** her.
The other bf actually found out about me because she made me sound so fucked this guy wanted to look me up and see if i was in prison lol. In my version he was in jail so everything she ever told me about him just ended with 'Good thing he's in prison for murder' yeah he killed the ex before her, that's a whole other box of crazy.
    just insanity.

I’ve heard some guys intentionally go for these types for...sex of course. As they are known for wild sex. Of course, that is the case with Alex, who had to have seen the “crazy” in Ezra already. Her boyfriend REALLY dodged a bullet. Basically real life “Fatal Attraction”.
Reality is guys often claim a girl is “crazy” for anything that does not go his way, but particularly if she is the type to stand up for herself. It’s a guys way of shutting her down.
Fact is, a guy is more likely to turn “crazy”/abusive on a girl. Just look at the headlines! At history! Either way, PAY ATTENTION!!! More than not your instincts will warn you! And guys, such as Alex, I’m sure would say the sex was not worth his life!

    • @murphy1011

I think Jodi is a different case entirely.
What Jodi did was inexcusable and disgusting, but I think her situation was a sad one. She had major problems surrounding low self esteem and attachment and I think
Travis took advantage of that. He kept letting her come back after pushing her away and he used her promiscuous personality for his own gratification. He wasn’t raised around women like Jodi and he wouldn’t find anyone else as open as her if he married a Mormon woman. The constant cycle of exploitation and mixed signals eventually pushed Jodi over the edge and she snapped. It’s inexcusable and should have never happened, but I can see how it happened.
The case of Ezra is a case of an attention seeking narcissist who played men because they were easy to manipulate. She wanted Alex for BDSM and Jason for a “real” relationship, but she couldn’t pull it off. Her plan was foiled when she was caught with Jason’s friend and lied about being assaulted. Alex could have been any random guy that fell into her trap. It just happened to be him, which is very sad.

During the trial, the prosecution said that she already knew the old man whose home she ran to…that he was a former high school teacher...so she picked that spot to murder Alex…all while knowing she would run to this poor man’s home and that the former teacher would be empathetic to her situation. Every awful detail was choreographed. Sick. The sentencing portion of the trial where the judge spoke about his reasoning for her sentence was really powerful. Highly recommend. Also the portion where Ezra talks on the stand about why she chose the last name “McCandless" she gets it wrong and says it's written BY McCandless. And her piss poor reading fluency (when reading
ANYTHING aloud from the stand) drove me nearly insane. She thinks herself an intellectual and near genius but she’s nothing but a fake and a farce. Lock her up and throw away the key. She’s gonna die in prison for her crimes. So be it.

This is the second video saying Alex had no defensive wounds, when the trial clearly showed he did have defensive wounds, in particular on his hands.
The dad did NOT say he gave her the knife. Just that a knife went missing...which he claimed 'happened all the time'. The knife was one of two knives he had just bough on Amazon, and they were supposedly for his work as a tree cutter (he said it was to open boxes...the defense that it was for cutting down trees. Neither makes sense).
Another thing, when Jason confronted her about it, she broke it off with him. It looks like she tried to make things work with Alex, but she missed Jason and the money he had.

One thing I don‘t understand, here in Europe, they ask you for the address, and whether the injured person is concious or not, and then they dispatch the medics right away. In the US, they ask for the name of the victim, ask a layman about the victim‘s injuries, possibly a credit card number, and then - maybe - they will eventually dispatch a vehicle or not, depending on the 911 operator‘s mood.

Ezra on the stand reminds me so much of Amber Herd's deposition. Having watched too much JCS, has made me very aware of body language, and her body is saying: I'm lying my ass off.

Peter Hyatt is excellent for statement analysis. Along with The Behaviour Panel, it will take you to new heights. I adore JCS.

@@thelaughingbasset Omg, yes!!!! I love Peter Hyatt. Someone recommended him to me, because I was going down the rabbit hole on the Madeline McAnn case. He goes in depth on the McAnn case. I really enjoy his commentary
