She even tried filing charges against me because it was in her house- but the policeman figured her out in two minutes, luckily, and nothing ever came of it)... Her face looking excited when Jason Mangle walked into the court. She was struggling to keep her smile in. I mean. If I was on the stand, being tried for murder, and I was INNOCENT, I would be freaking out the whole time. Not trying to smile at my crush who was probably there to testify against me.

Oh no way. Jodi was very much combative with the DA, even to the detriment of her defense case. Jodi was also cocky, argumentative, and downright disgusting and disrespectful. Jodi oozed dishonesty in her testimony.
It’s strange how the people you want to sleep with and the people you want to partner with are so different. In her delusional mind she thought killing Alex would take away that darker side of herself. It’s always sad when two young peoples lives are over before they even began. That display in court will come back to haunt her as well. Hard to prove your remorse when your giving goo goo eyes at your murder trial. What a dumbass.
She's very much the self invented manic pixie dream girl of her own story and it's scary how she thought she could just charm her way out of murder....even though she is quite possibly the least charming person since jodi arias
Totally. She paints herself as the desired goddess of all...her “attacker” saying: Oh Ezra, you’re my shining star 🌟 Then as the victim, fighting for her life. Then the hero, going to his aid when he needed help to pee (what?)...and finally as the goddess/victim again...as an injured man lustfully tries to pull her to him again. It’s ridiculous. Nobody is buying your little fantasy story, Ezra. 🙄
I try to stay away from these people in real life but my relative is literally in a relationship with this type and keeps forcing her presence on me when I want to stay off her radar!!
@@kerrib2568 the thing about him needing her help to pee is just so goddamn bonkers. like you were just stabbing the fuck out of this dude and he's going to ask you for help? to pee of all things? and she just up and goes back to help the guy who was just trying to kill her? like how the hell did she think that would make sense.
JFC, her testimony is like she is robotically retelling a story she memorized. She has some grandiose ideas of herself (e.g., saying Alex called her “his shining star”). She stated she felt “pricks” from the knife but yet was afraid of him killing her? This woman is despicable. 😡
I don't get how more wasn't made of this 'almost blind' girl who can't see her own hand six inched from her face without her glasses, picked up a dropped knife in the back of the car, during a struggle, and before her fully sighted 'attacker' could retrieve it.
Looking at the footage, her glasses seem to impose _suspiciously_ little geometric distortion for someone who claims to be this extremely myopic. She would have to have way thicker glasses than I do (I would guess at least -6 dpt or so?), and mine would be enough to show the effect. So I would be inclined to believe that she made this up to support her image as the helpless victim. A fascinating young woman... well, in the sense that a dancing cobra is. She can recount what is supposed to be a sexual assault in minute detail while showing no emotion whatsoever. How likely is that? She would have to be extremely cold-blooded regardless of whether her account is true or not. Really smells like psycho.
When someone lies about sexual assault they only cause more issue with actual victims being believed and supported. She is of course mostly horrendous for killing someone but secondly for falsely accusing people of sexual assault. Even though research has shown that false accusations are a small minority, these kind of high profile cases only encourage people that jump to blaming victims and calling them liars.

I feel for the guy who called 911. Couldnt imagine someone showing up to my door and to think ezra knew this the entire time. I wonder if people knew that they wouldn't get away with murder if they'd still do it? She just looks insane. So senseless.
I think during the trial the prosecution said that she knew the old man that he was a former high school teacher…so she picked that spot knowing she would run to his home and that the former teacher would be empathetic to her situation. Every awful detail was choreographed. Sick. The sentencing portion of the trial where the judge spoke about his reasoning for her sentence was really powerful. Highly recommend. Also the portion where Ezra talks on the stand about why she chose the last name “McCandless” she gets it wrong and says it’s written BY McCandless. And her poor reading fluency when reading ANYTHING aloud from the stand drove me nearly insane. She thinks herself an intellectual and near genius but she nothing but a fake and a farce.
I’ve known a few women like her. Fortunately for most of them, they grow up and a lot of them get lucky enough to get help. Unfortunately; her narcissism consumed her and she made a mistake that cant be undone. She ruined her whole life for attention. It’s very sad. I often wonder what happens to people to lead them down this path.
Personally, I think she was born that way. Her mother testified in court and you could tell that there was something not quite right with her too. She passed on the crazy gene to Ezra.
I dated a girl who was borderline like this. Me and another guy who both thought we were her 'boyfriends' and then another guy who thought they were just seeing each. Long story short, my counter-part boyfriend found out and told me and the other guy. The other guy just wanted to wash his hands of her and not get involved any further as there wasn't a lot of history between the two. Understandable. So me and the buddy collect all her shit from our places meet at her place and be "we know, fuck off, we're done." Both of us had only been with her for a few months so it wasn't so much heart breaking as it was just kind of humiliating. The whole thing was supposed to take 30 seconds, as long as it take to knock on a door, drop a box on a door step turn around flip the bird with a few choice words and wham bam thank you ma'am, done-zo and out. We both ended up standing there in absolute amazement for about 10 minutes as this girl just came up with the most elaborate bullshit as to how it was our fault and our demands for exclusivity forced her into the arms of another guy. It was like watching a movie, she just made it so poetic it would of actually been impressive had I not been one of the characters in her drama. Like she got so emotionally distraught me and this dude both looked at each other like "Yeah bud it's about beer o'clock, lets fuckin' go." we go grab some beers with each other and find out this girl had been pretty much using us as 'the abusive ex boyfriend' in both versions of her life. So when one of us would do something she didn't like she'd make up some elaborate story. For example this one weekend she just decided we should go stay in a hotel in Toronto...first off, we live in Toronto, 2nd hotels are expensive as fuck and I was the only one working and it just wasn't something I was going to do spur the moment. This fucker told the other boyfriend that I (As the ex several years prior) dragged her to this hotel and r**** her. The other bf actually found out about me because she made me sound so fucked this guy wanted to look me up and see if i was in prison lol. In my version he was in jail so everything she ever told me about him just ended with 'Good thing he's in prison for murder' yeah he killed the ex before her, that's a whole other box of crazy. just insanity.
Ezra's a classic Borderline Personality Disorder case with STRONG Histrionic tendencies. Cluster B cases are fascinating simply because of how prevalent these individuals are in society.
Thank you so much for all your hard work! You guys are the best! It doesn't matter which one of you tell the stories but i love when you two are together!
Men must remember there are plenty of Jodie Aries out there, if you need to break up with a crazy woman, Never let her get you alone, your not prepared for what a crazy female can do.
I’ve heard some guys intentionally go for these types for...sex of course. As they are known for wild sex. Of course, that is the case with Alex, who had to have seen the “crazy” in Ezra already. Her boyfriend REALLY dodged a bullet. Basically real life “Fatal Attraction”. Reality is guys often claim a girl is “crazy” for anything that does not go his way, but particularly if she is the type to stand up for herself. It’s a guys way of shutting her down. Fact is, a guy is more likely to turn “crazy”/abusive on a girl. Just look at the headlines! At history! Either way, PAY ATTENTION!!! More than not your instincts will warn you! And guys, such as Alex, I’m sure would say the sex was not worth his life!
I wonder if Jody and Ezra are friend's. Victims both of them, such a shame. And they both have that fantastic ability of minute detailed story telling.
I think Jodi is a different case entirely. What Jodi did was inexcusable and disgusting, but I think her situation was a sad one. She had major problems surrounding low self esteem and attachment and I think Travis took advantage of that. He kept letting her come back after pushing her away and he used her promiscuous personality for his own gratification. He wasn’t raised around women like Jodi and he wouldn’t find anyone else as open as her if he married a Mormon woman. The constant cycle of exploitation and mixed signals eventually pushed Jodi over the edge and she snapped. It’s inexcusable and should have never happened, but I can see how it happened. The case of Ezra is a case of an attention seeking narcissist who played men because they were easy to manipulate. She wanted Alex for BDSM and Jason for a “real” relationship, but she couldn’t pull it off. Her plan was foiled when she was caught with Jason’s friend and lied about being assaulted. Alex could have been any random guy that fell into her trap. It just happened to be him, which is very sad.
@@murphy1011 I was referring to their ease of lying and the art of manipulation, not that the cases were alike. However, both played the victim card and both tried to blame the actual victim. They both took the stand with the belief that they could pull the wool over 12 people's eyes.

Thanks for explaining this so clearly. I have read about this and heard a podcast on it, but there were so many characters that I could t keep up with who-was-who-again? I also wasn’t sure I wanted to keep up; what a complex person she is, and convoluted. Her murderous mission was so hard to figure out, her intent and motive so cruel, evil. I totally did it because I haven't heard it before. Her very short pauses seem well rehearsed and dramatized. Now to finish watching this one and see what she was saying, I think she was talking about her County-Hair-Cut, prison haircut will be much better looking.
It was so nice to have this story organized to make sense as far as motive and timeline. I was all over this case and couldnt make sense of so many things and details to create a big picture, thank you

Wow! I don't know how I missed this doozy since I've been a court TV junkie for decades. She's a strange one. It was interesting to hear her repeat every question her lawyer asked her out loud before she would answer. Was there a psychological evaluation done on her? I posted without finishing sorry , she was so unemotional giving her testimony, I would be hysterical ... I feel for his family sitting listening to her blame him the victim 😡 thanks Chris for another interesting story
She kept saying “I needed to get away. Needed to get out the car.” But when she does she turns to him to render “help” getting close enough for him to grab her. Doesn’t make sense. People who are terrified for their lives RUN as soon as they get the opportunity wether or not their assailant is severely injured or not.
It sounded so scripted between her and her attorney. The rapidity with which she gave such detailed answers when being questioned by her lawyer duringher trial...
You guys are one of my favorite true crime channels! This story is SO convoluted! It's so nice to be able to come here and let you guys MAKE SENSE of all the NONSENSE!!! ❤❤❤❤
The fact that she talked about what Alex allegedly did to her without even a hint of fear or any other emotion should tell you everything you need to know. She is a sociopath in my opinion.
I saw this court case and she is just straight up crazy! And in the 911 call she says she cannot remember her name but she can remember her age? She premeditated his murder . Sounds like she makes herself a victim in every and any situation even when she's murdering someone!
Jason is lucky to be alive. Ezra would have killed him at some point in their relationship, if their relationship had continued, but later turned south west and he decides to leave her.
Ezra always dressed in a very eclectic way, and had a very free spirited personality. THEN she shows up at her trial, with her hair grown out, no make-up, dowdy clothes, and a meek mousy personality. I doubt Ezra even knows who she really is...she spent so long inventing new personalities.
This is the second video saying Alex had no defensive wounds, when the trial clearly showed he did have defensive wounds, in particular on his hands. The dad did NOT say he gave her the knife. Just that a knife went missing...which he claimed 'happened all the time'. The knife was one of two knives he had just bough on Amazon, and they were supposedly for his work as a tree cutter (he said it was to open boxes...the defense that it was for cutting down trees. Neither makes sense). Another thing, when Jason confronted her about it, she broke it off with him. It looks like she tried to make things work with Alex, but she missed Jason and the money he had.

One thing I don‘t understand, here in Europe, they ask you for the address, and whether the injured person is concious or not, and then they dispatch the medics right away. In the US, they ask for the name of the victim, ask a layman about the victim‘s injuries, possibly a credit card number, and then - maybe - they will eventually dispatch a vehicle or not, depending on the 911 operator‘s mood.
I think the dispatcher was keeping the farmer on the line for safety and gathering more info to relay to EMS while they were on the way. Sounds like it was in a rural area which it would take time for EMS to get out there.
Calling 911 in the USA is a pain! I called for a fire once and gave all the information to the first person who answered my call and THEN they transferred me to a second person who asked me all the same questions! One was a dispatcher and the other was some other emergency personnel. I don’t even know.

That really hit me, as well. I once had to testify in court about a really traumatic event, and even though I was as calm as I could be, I was still shaking and visibly upset. Her placid, perfectly calm demeanor just rubs me the wrong way. I don't buy it for a minute. She even seemed to be trying to hide a smirk at one point.
She had no remorse, she was only sorry for getting caught and she’s a lousy lier and $ex is the only reason why men want her. Other than that she has no skills or anything to contribute to society
@@maneckineckbeard1749
That smirk/smile is called Dupers Delight. It is a common, involuntary motion brought on by the psychopath thinking they have pulled one over on someone.
How u know she’s lying ? Were u there? No
Yeah so fake but she thinks it’s cool bincinh 🙄
Her testimony on the stand is such an elaborate tale. So many needless details, just like a typical liar. I’ll bet you dimes to donuts if she was asked to tell it backwards she wouldn’t remember the order of things.
Thats what the defense does. Correct what shes already told to fit the "defense".
Why do they go so far into the origin of her chosen name? Why does this matter to anything?
So true. I’ve been truly assaulted and know what it’s like to have to recount the events. She’s truly evil.
I couldn't listen to her it was so obviously lies
Notice that she’s not crying
Even her name was self invention. Ezra is a major drama Queen to this day- she paints herself as a freedom fighter, unjustly imprisoned.
She’s totally histrionic
@@brookenowak9443 I was just discussing my sister-in-law with my mother, and I’m convinced that “histrionic” is the perfect word to describe her... and just reading your comment made me realize that THIS kind of thing is the risk you take when dealing with histrionics.... (I was physically attacked by her a year ago, defended myself to get away, THEN became the accused instigator. She even tried filing charges against me because it was in her house- but the policeman figured her out in two minutes, luckily, and nothing ever came of it)... Wow but attacking someone then claiming to be the victim sounds very familiar to me now!!!
she looks like a Monica for sure.
@@laalaag2auntyayag776The Amber Heard syndrome.
Her face looking excited when Jason Mangle walked into the court. She was struggling to keep her smile in.
I mean. If I was on the stand, being tried for murder, and I was INNOCENT, I would be freaking out the whole time. Not trying to smile at my crush who was probably there to testify against me.
A tearful apology is more effective when accompanied by actual tears.
yeah.. if i a, upset and cry, i will have tears and for sure my nose will be runny too. What kind of crying is without tears..
Like Chris Watts?..
It also helps to actually apologize. Lol. She said everything except I'm sorry I killed your son. Or I'm sorry I took your son from you. She just kept say "this loss" and "great loss" along with her no tears fake voice shaking statement. 🙄 She is a terrible actress too. Gives herself WAY too much credit at being convincing. She is the smartest dumb person in the room after all. She absolutely thinks she's smarter than everyone, but she couldn't even get her story straight or convincing in any way. She's a piece of work.
I noticed d that too.
As she tells her tall tales in court , it reminds me of the way Jodi arias did
2 peas in a pod
💯
Oh no way. Jodi was very much combative with the DA, even to the detriment of her defense case. Jodi was also cocky, argumentative, and downright disgusting and disrespectful. Jodi oozed dishonesty in her testimony.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for someone to say this!
That sick little display she put on when Jason walked into the courtroom during her MURDER TRIAL says alot about her.
It really does!
And she did it for nothin because he wasn't payin dat fool no mind.😏
It’s strange how the people you want to sleep with and the people you want to partner with are so different. In her delusional mind she thought killing Alex would take away that darker side of herself. It’s always sad when two young peoples lives are over before they even began. That display in court will come back to haunt her as well. Hard to prove your remorse when your giving goo goo eyes at your murder trial. What a dumbass.
She's very much the self invented manic pixie dream girl of her own story and it's scary how she thought she could just charm her way out of murder....even though she is quite possibly the least charming person since jodi arias
It always amazes me how these people think they can Charm (to use your word) their way out! Delusional!
She’s totally histrionic!!
I'm just surprised this girl has only killed one person.
She was caught before she did further murder. She was only in her early 20s
The man who let her in and called the cops is such a gentleman.
Jason is one lucky guy escaping her craziness. Rest In Peace, Alex 😢
Idk he was laughing and smiling on trial as well. 🤷🏼♀️ He was probably a weirdo himself.
Yea hes just as f ked up as she is
JFC, her testimony is like she is robotically retelling a story she memorized.
My thoughts exactly.
YES! Despicable and unforgivable!
She is pure evil!
Well said!
very true. just another way that what she did was awful. It really seems like she had no conscience.
True
I can see another Jody Arias in her...her story was way too detailed for someone who cannot remember anything.
That’s crazy! I was just thinking that & saw your comment. She is such a Jodi Arias type.
She’s so damn crazy
I never understood her at all. I believe she tried to get married in prison to a woman years ago!! ?? I m almost sure.
But she’s a true monster.
So happy to see your posts tonight 💯💯

The older gentleman on the phone was so kind and nice and he kept it together to make sure she got help. Hope he is ok especially after finding out she was the perpetrator.
Sending hugs to Alex’s family and friends .
he testified in her defense at closing
Oh wow! What a piece of work she was. Drama queen, nutcase, murderer playing the victim all in one. Yeah I say Jason got lucky and dodged the bullet on that one. Or he could've ended up her next victim. R.I.P. Alex you didn't deserve this. Prayers to Alex's family and friends.
But y a 30 yr old was dating a 19yr old that didn’t have a job or pot to piss in and away from their family and he can’t remember how old he is. He’s a creep for sure and I hope the embarrassment and notoriety follows him for a long time. Despite that, Ezra would have done what she did regardless.

She sounds like she's writing a book. Very odd
She’s a class A drama queen. She puts every annoying high school girl to shame.
Recalling it all with no emotion yeah right
Agreed. It’s so weird her saying it all in the present tense and with no emotion. She could just be reading straight from a very badly written novel.
I have known a couple guys like this too. compulsive lying, beating women, and coming up with schemes all the time
I dated a girl who was borderline like this.
So me and the buddy collect all her shit from our places meet at her place and be "we know, fuck off, we're done."
Both of us had only been with her for a few months so it wasn't so much heart breaking as it was just kind of humiliating.
That old gentleman was such a soft and caring soul. God bless him.
This story is insane.

She had major problems surrounding low self esteem and attachment and I think
Travis took advantage of that.
I want to take this opportunity to express how much I like Amy & Chris' true crime recap. I am not on any social media sites, really don't dig them. But watch all of your stories on YT. Even how horrendous they all are, I love the fact that we all have that WTF with head shakes at these monsters??? Gotta admit I laughed a few times where laughs had no business being! The same goes for his "friends". There are two to dance tango (I'm talking about the unfaithfulness, not the murder).
@@MsSonali1980 I totally agree
Thanks for explaining this so clearly. I have read about this and heard a podcast on it, but there were so many characters that I could t keep up with who-was-who-again? I also wasn’t sure I wanted to keep up; what a complex person she is, and convoluted. Her murderous mission was so hard to figure out, her intent and motive so cruel, evil. How she dispensed of a human being for such a convoluted reason, of her own devise. Terrible.
There are a lot of moving parts on this one. Glad we were able to bring in some organization. Thanks for watching!
Well, this is one McCandless, who won't be experiencing The Great Outdoors! Didn't know about this case. Thanks for your great story telling!
What a psycho - it is so scary that people so cold, calculating, manipulative & callous even exist. No one could retell that brutal scene without emotion. So sad for Alex & his family
Her story doesn’t make sense, she is frozen, she kicks him in the groin, he grabs her throat, he lets go her throat and grabs her hair etc etc. She doesn’t come across as a true victim, just someone trying to appear that way and making a poor show of it. If you turn off the sound, and watch Ezra address the families at 25:00, she isn't 'crying'. She might be complaining about her haircut, though . . .
I totally did it because I haven't heard it before. Her very short pauses seem well rehearsed and dramatized. Now to finish watching this one and see what she was saying, I think she was talking about her County-Hair-Cut, prison haircut will be much better looking.

Her lawyer must have hated her to allow her to get on the stand and talk...lol. Her story is straight up nonsense. I cringed when she said Alex said (before trying to kill her) “Ezra is beautiful “ “Ezra is my shining star”. Eww. I mean who the hell does that?
Same!
Wow! I don't know how I missed this doozy since I've been a court TV junkie for decades. She's a strange one. It was interesting to hear her repeat every question her lawyer asked her out loud before she would answer. Was there a psychological evaluation done on her? I realize this is an old case, but I thought I'd ask. Cool channel, by the way, I'm a new fan! ❤❤❤
Did anyone else see her excitement when she started to describe her fantasy assault?
Wow...that just creeped me out...no way is she telling the truth!

Also there's no fear or fealings of shame!
There's always one or the other!
That just creeped me out!
One strange thing she always did in the trial, was always repeating her lawyers question upon answering the question. As to buy a few seconds to answer the question. Weird.
Liars do it to stall. It gives them time to compose themselves to appear more credible.
During the trial, the prosecution said that she already knew the old man whose home she ran to…that he was a former high school teacher...so she picked that spot to murder Alex…all while knowing she would run to this poor man’s home and that the former teacher would be empathetic to her situation.
I get the Jodi Arias vibes from this chick. Her testimony was ridiculous. Obviously lying with all those intricate details.
I was just looking for this story an hour ago! Great timing!
Perfect!
Her testimony sounds like she's reading from her own deluded novel she wrote.
She is. without notes
I thought the same thing!
It sounded so scripted between her and her attorney. The rapidity with which she gave such detailed answers when being questioned by her lawyer duringher trial...
This case makes me insane. I’ve watched a ton of the court footage. She makes my skin crawl. Such a liar.

Never once when apologizing to Alex's parents does she say "I'm so sorry I did this" she is horrible.
You put this story together so well. No fluff.
Thanks for watching!
The fact that she talked about what Alex allegedly did to her without even a hint of fear or any other emotion should tell you everything you need to know. She is a sociopath in my opinion.
A malignant narcissist also.
This channel has become one of my favourite! Love this couple!
Love you back! Thanks for the nice comment!
I saw this court case and she is just straight up crazy! And in the 911 call she says she cannot remember her name but she can remember her age? She premeditated his murder . Sounds like she makes herself a victim in every and any situation even when she's murdering someone!
Great recap…I appreciate that you kept it as short as possible while still including important details. Good work!
She didn't leave him by the trailer, she left him in the car after giving up on trying to drag him out of it.
Jason should be happy she got 50 years, because I'd be watching my back if I were him. She seems crazy as hell.
OMG! WHAT A GREAT CHANNEL! This is the first time I've ever watched a video by you and I love how great your breakdown of the trial is. So, I love the way you give a thorough recap of the events without leaving out anything important to the case! Thanks and I def hit the like button and subscribed. This'll be my go-to channel for trial recaps.
My sister worked with her. Apparently she seemed like a nice person, a bit weird but usually nice. Then she stopped showing up to work, and not long after that it was all over the news locally.
She had to return a heating pad and a BOOKMARK, seriously?? Sure choose the most unimportant objects in the world to return, that’ll be most believable😂👌🏻
Great recap! Thank you🙂
I’d never heard of this case
Thanks for watching!
"They" NEVER said in their statement to the Court, that they were responsible for Alex's death! They said they were sorry for the "loss", not that they were responsible! 🙄
I lost count how times I rolled my eyes during her testimony. If they didn't have their glasses on, and couldn't focus outside of a few inches, how could they tell if his shoes were on or not?🤔🙄
She sounds like she’s telling a story instead of saying what happened to her. Where is the emotion of fear? She’s a terrible witness. She sure didn’t help her case.
Thanks guys. Really enjoying your show! Thanks from Noel in Perth Western Australia!
I’m glad she didn’t kill the old man like in so many other stories where someone goes the door in need of help. She is where she belongs.

I watched this entire trial on CourtTv. It was bizarre & as it was heartbreaking.
Man I am just never going to date anyone ever again. You just can't trust people.
Another amazing recap.
Yep...pisses me off every time I need to make a 991 call in an accident!
They dipatch while theyre trying to get as many details as possible.
Calling 911 in the USA is a pain! I called for a fire once and gave all the information to the first person who answered my call and THEN they transferred me to a second person who asked me all the same questions!
One was a dispatcher and the other was some other emergency personnel. I don’t even know.
She is a terrible liar. Not a tear shed talking about being assaulted & scared for her life. It sounds like a plot of a lifetime movie. It's really unbelievable.
