Painting a Celtic Knotwork Design in Ink & Watercolour

- For those of you who have been following my art journey on this channel, you'll have seen that recently I've been inspired by celtic design, particularly Celtic Knotwork. I have been sketching circular knotwork patterns based on linked triquetra designs and wanted to know if I could expand them so made this piece with linked circles in the centre and then a chain of linked triquetra (three-lobed knots) around the edge. I also used this as a piece to experiment with a slightly splashy watercolour style and kept my design clear using masking fluid.

I do have some recommendations for finding more about Celtic Art. A couple of channels on UA-cam; David Nicholls and Aon Celtic Art are both really helpful. I've also been working through Aidan Meehan's 'The Book of Celtic Design' and have found lots of inspiration there.

There are loads of beginner/simplified videos showing how to start this kind of pattern. You could try searching Aon Celtic Art or David Nicholls for some good beginner instructions.
