My first thought was..... I this a joke? Does he go to Ions, Harry Manbank and track 69 on Undertow to test her patience? Let the Rabbits wear Glasses!!!
Rosetta Stoned is one of their absolute best songs. I think the hallucinogen the narrator imbibed was Acid not DMT? Deadhead chemistry and blotter got on top of me are definitely LSD references.
Fun fact, the "Blame Hofmann" title in Lost Keys is a reference to Albert Hofmann, the creator of and first person to ingest LSD. He first took acid on April 19th, 1943. The 19th is known as bicycle day, as Hofmann rode his bike around the city of Basel, Switzerland while he was on his trip
Also im pretty sure but not confirmed in Rosseta stoned when he screams, Bob help me. Hes referring to Bob Lazar. Area 51 whistle blower who extensively detailed his time there and alien craft he saw and worked on.
Watching your Tool reactions in particular has been the best journey, and I've seen them all by now. I really appreciate your lyrical breakdowns and the fact that you seem to have genuine emotional connection with the songs. It's also a great plus that neither of you are overly bombastic like you're putting on a character, which adds to that credibility.
'Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position. Such a heavy burden now to be the one. Born to bear and ritual the details of our ending. To write it down for all the world to see... But I forgot my pen.' This is one of my favourite sections of any tool track. For one, Maynards voice sounds amazing, but it's also genuinely funny. The whole song has been building up to the message he was told, to then reveal he has no idea what the message was because he didn't write it down. Tool/Maynard have a great sense of humor, sometimes more obvious than in other songs.
tool makes so much more sense when you can really submerge yourself into the soundscape and the lyrics and the rhythms... they are truly epic and original.
Luv your reactions, completely intelligent response, very classy, very dedicated to the message from the art, you seem real , not fake, very rare in this time always a pleasure to witness your reaction, much love to your honesty . I have been learning Tool songs on my guitar since the early 90s , most fun and complicated but they pumped blood through my veins for over a decade, my friends and family basically shut me out, very sad time for me , but it's time to learn new Tool and play it for my children! My endless journey to love what I attack on guitar, very challenging!👽
As someone who has done a bunch of psychedelics this song has always resonated with me. The best and worst part is that often during the trip you get the feeling that you've unlocked the secrets to life and the universe only to lose it as the trip subsides. This song nails that feeling, like when you have a word you've always known on the tip of your tongue but you just can't remember it, and the harder you try the more elusive it gets. It's that kind of frustrated feeling mixed with sadness and loss as you realise the word is gone forever (or never really existed in the first place).
it is ALWAYS amazing when a guy that is a Tool fan “like me” introduces a beautiful woman to Tool and she likes it.. keep rolling man and keep rocking Tool for her... thumbs up all day
You've set up an intriguing environment to record these reactions. Your use of camera focus, the blank canvass in the background, the disembodied voice (aside from the occasional hand....). And then, of course, some thoughtful discussion that's on-point. Well done!
The female speaking as the "nurse" in the beginning is actually Adam Jones's (the guitarist of Tool) wife. She also has helped Adam create some of their music videos.
Great reaction. I'm a fan. Your analysis pointed out that Tool is more than just music, it's an experience. Looking forward to more reactions. Maybe Reflection from the Lateralus album?
(This part is true) Al Jorgensen of Ministry suprised dosed all tool members w/ LSD. My theory; The following albums that ensued were more progressive and experimental and this song represents an LSD experience.
If you believe the conspiracies, Rosetta Stoned is more than just a song. Supposedly, Tool is meant pretty literally. The bands music is purportedly a tool to bring humanity together. Themes of spirituality and aliens/inter dimensional beings run through a lot of their stuff. Check out a dissection of their album/song Lateralus. “Overwhelmed as one would be, placed in my position. Such a heavy burden now to be the one. Born to bear and bring to all the details of our ending. To write it down for all the world to see.”
but i forgot my pen......thats how i feel after high dose mushroom trips and DMT trips.... while in that space youve got access to all the information you could ever want but it seems impossible to bring it back.. DMT is fleeting, like a rapidly dissolving dream.... shit the bed again
@@farn451 I guess I just mean to fully get lost in the sheer journey that song plunges you into first, hear all the intricacies and to understand it kinda thing first, then the drum cam vid becomes a lot more appreciable after? But I agree, viewing The Octopus at work is an absolute pleasure too haha.
7:38. See. All of the vocals are crazy to me, cuz I never had the real. And, honestly, I can’t with the real lyrics. Not today. Maybe tomorrow. I should get a big print out of all the lyrics I’ve been listening to for nearly thirty years. I’ve been wrong about all these, why not more. From my favorite band of all time. Apparently, all the words are completely different from what I heard twenty years ago.
She's European, she doesn't understand why fred durst is a joke. Definitely a cultural thing. If you didn't know who he was, he'd be just another singer.
He started her on ROSETTA STONED and she liked it???? Keeper.
no doubt!!

Agreed. You better keep her.😉

Yes. Quite. : D
Lateralus for me is 10 out of 10 musically, lyrically, philosophically, mathematically.
Cool, this is from 10,000 Days though.
@Without Form So grammatically, then?

Ahhhh so THAT's Hoffman. I'd heard that about the bicycle, cool that's a reference here.
Not just that, but didn’t he take something like 50x the dose and was tripping for days
Also im pretty sure but not confirmed in Rosseta stoned when he screams, Bob help me. Hes referring to Bob Lazar. Area 51 whistle blower who extensively detailed his time there and alien craft he saw and worked on.

Yes and "shit the bed" in this song is metaphoric (at least mostly, lol).

Beautifully put. Peace
Man, listening to this song early in your tool. Journey is like jumping in the deep end with no arms or legs. Glad you liked it!.
I love this little mini opera that Tool put on. Great reaction, thanks for sharing! :)
Never would’ve imagined that Laura Palmer was a fan of Tool. Kewl.
Maynard has a lot of range. More Tool plz
Great reaction!! Your partner has great taste, and I'm sure he'll recommend some more great Tool songs!
Subbed for more Tool.
More to come soon, thank you!

I've been a Tool fan for most of my life and this song combo always gets me going, one of my favorites.

hahaha! I fell in love as soon as she said, "Oh, great source!" about Wikipedia! That was great! Cant wait to see y'all react to more TOOL,
Its a phenomenal song, genius
I just subbed both of you tonight. Looking forward to watching your reactions. I love watching people become Tool fans. Spiral out.
You said it...interesting place to start. Nothing like diving into the deep end. Glad she liked it.
TOOL just has a way of tapping into your subconscious🔥👽🔥

cool to see another person beginning their spiral down the tool rabbit hole. enjoy
I F***ING LOVE THIS SONG!!!

Talk about jumping in with both feet!
Subbed for more Tool....
Love this girls reactions she was pretty confused what was happening
the grudge
If you choose or are forced to actually sit and listen to what this band creates it's impossible not to come out a fan of what they do
Tool - Crawl Away
Show her the tool -Pneuma live drum cam.... She seemed to liked the drums
Agree 👍
The change in rhythm is more about time signature changes. Tool is known for playing odd time signatures.
she got it right... Danny Carey is the best drummer in the world... keep rocking Tool army all day

8/10 is fair if you're judging based on Tool against itself... otherwise it still beats 99% of the crap out there
Did she say sounds like Fred Durst ...if so you are fired from all TOOL music for eternity
14:13 blip.
If u wanna lose your mind, than try dispositon and reflection from Lareralus album
Doesn't mention triad hahaha
This is deep tune rough
Seems as though she knows Metallica “One”. React to that. Maybe some Pearl Jam “Porch” live at pink pop.
Tool = Limp Bizkit???
Comparing Maynard to Durst is honestly blasphemy.
Good luck yikes giddyup

Limp Bizkit = most intricate progressive rock of all time. Makes sense 😆

Fred Durst is one of the greatest lyricists of our time.
lol I dont think she got any of the humor in it
She's European, she doesn't understand why fred durst is a joke. Definitely a cultural thing. If you didn't know who he was, he'd be just another singer.
I don't like this because I can hear her boyfriend's voice and that ruins the fantasy of listening to a hot girl react to a song I like.
comparing Maynards voice to Fred Durst... Just awful.

Hey. The elimination of the dudes voice will elevate the both of you.
