Jake and his woodblocks lol
He one of the best man
he makes it look easy partly because he's got excellent samples to work with...as well as the skill...
Man that arp at 03:40 always had me tripping whenever I was stoned.
The arp makes the song vibe so much better when ur high
White boy got that soul...much respect!
It's great at the normal speed but Mike Posner made a genius move slowing it down. The vibe is perfect!
PleaseExcuseUs well it wasnt genius because he slowed it down by accident lol...but yeah the slow version has a better vibe for the song
I like it fast bc it’s authentic
Speed .75x sounds good too but it’s limited to just a redman method man high song of dev the dude . Fast i hear more artist like styles p and jada or fab speed makes difference
Crazy I never knew til now or forgot... Jake One produced this ?!? Best song on this great album
What he's doing is actually a genius idea for producers. Everytime this video gets played it counts as a song play.
The bass line brings this song to life!!!
same drums in Chance The Rapper's Acid Rain
***** i realized that right now lol... they smooth tho
Snare jordan kit!
+SwaVay actually the drum pattern arrangement differs by one kick haha!
And still some of the best I’ve ever heard.
a c i d
Loved the part where the dude asks if thats a loop then he says no i dont loop but i made a loop out of it. LMAO.
John Noel he loops his own loop
Humble flex lol
well there's a difference
man i love this song
I NEED MORE WOODBLOCK BABY!! *TAPS WOODBLOCK*
he make the workflow on the asr look so easy...
Black Tiger Brother ! Rrraaahhh !
That's pretty funny about importing it slower. They must have imported Jake's 48khz version into a 44.1khz PT session.
Jake's version is so much funkier
what I like about this cat is that he has keyboard hands with his sample style... I kind of miss my ASR 10 now lol... those shits still go for $1000 if your lucky... no BS
I've seen them go for half of that, but fully expanded you might pay in that ballpark
considering that its hard to get parts for them its better to pay that tag for a fully expanded version
Yeah I wonder why nobody makes parts for them like they do for MPC's
guess the reason why is the company went out of business despite of how many people use this keyboard still... my brother has the rack version
The EPS is no slouch either
WHEN THAT FIRST "OOOOOOO" CAME IN, THAT'S A FACE SCRUNCHER RIGHT DEER
I still use mine as a controller. Always loved the ASR's keys, though I've heard people complain about 'em...
@TimeisMoney711 ***** He's not using a Midi Keyboard or software (besides pro tools to sequence the song). He's using a sampling keyboard (ASR10) from 1992. He's importing sounds and samples into the sampling keyboard and than making the beat. Its all standalone besides PT.
Same shit kanye uses. I love beats like this. It has a real feel more so then just daw and qual notes.
yes it does - take a 44.1 file and put it into a DAW running at 48k or vice versa...thats what Jake one means @ 3.10 'importing it at the wrong speed'...
JAKE ONE YOU THE MAN!
jake is an amazing producer.
HITS ME IN THE FEELS DUDE
Bro thank you for your lessons on all your video's... Kanye's Latest movement displaying the ASR 10 made me say Hey I remember those days and I had to turn the power button on to the 10... Damn I had forgot how great it sounds out the box!!! but also I had for got how to use it... Thank you again for your Videos!!! Now I'm looking at all my old equipment and turning off the computer to get re-acquainted. Challenge to all Producers, turn off the plugins and create something Hot with a Classic piece of equipment in the 2020. My equipment list... ASR 10, MPC 4000, Akai 3000XL and wait for it... the Korg 01/Wfd... time to get busy... HARDWARE STYLE!!!...lol. Damn I gotta remember how to Midi and use it all the way I did back in the day... I was a MIDI wizzard!...lol...lol...lol
Jake One is a mastermind!
Jake one's beats are like soul sounds idk how to put it in words man. Magnificent if I could use one word though lol.
Does anybody know how to replicate that arp sound? It's pretty tight
Classic
I need those vox’s🥵
Delayed drums ! I'm an addict keep making my crack! Waiting for your 2014 shit. Thanks jake! Ur beats will b still played 10years later!
ASR-10 user... much respect! dopest sampler ever... wish i can get one someday...

goodISH J.O
Kool ass video!!!
Jake uno
killlllin it !!!! big beat!!!
P8
So is Jake Playing the Bass and Keyes (rhodesand piano) himself, then bring them into the ASR?...or is it a sample he has keygrouped ??.... this beat is classic
hot fire
makes me wanna get busy on my ASR-10!
he took a 48k beat and put it into pro tools at 44.1 - hence the speed change?
I've got an EPS 16+ with fully expanded memory sitting under my bed gathering dust. Might be time to set it up..
Me too
wooodblock !!!!
yep lol
wow..looking at that ASR-10 makes me want to dust off my board...I have no clue where my Operating disks are at now..been so long.
Showemright YTchannel I'll send you a copy of the operating disk if you want
I got the kit, its dope!
i want that arp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice.
Wow...takes all the actual talent out of making real music.
lol
Gareth ODonoghue good trolling skills
Genius
Gad damn, this song is just to G...:D
Ensoniq ASR-10. Classic keyboard sampler, be advised, it's a sampler, NO presets. You must make/sample your own sounds...
where's the JAKE ONE ALERT beat
why is it unreleased, the beat is sick dude
@drum broker how much money do you get paid to make these beats for famous people ?
I miss my old ASR10
+Jay Sizzle Music are they in good shape now? worth getting one these days? are there any options to ASR-10?
treated with grit and dirt :-)
UrbanCrunkMovement You're right that it shouldn't, but sometimes it can happen by accident. That's probably what caused that subtle tempo and pitch change.
If you make a pro tools session at 130bpm then import it to a new session with the default 120bpm you just pitched everything down 1.5 semitones because pro toops saves the original tempo in the metadata etc. Pitch and tempo are different from sample rate. 44.1khz/s wav files should import into a 48kHz/s session at the same pitch unless your clock is shit.
shit is official
where does he get these vocal samples?? and does he sample keys someone played for him into his asr?
Chefnay 1. we'll never know, probably vinyl or maybe samples an in-house vocalist. 2. yes.
What is the sound/plugin used @ 3:30
Jake One , What tempo are you using?
i need me one of them keyboards were do they sell them things
Does he do his track on the asr10 alone sampling and sequencing ? :-)
where did he get those vocal sample "oos" that he uses?
Anyone know the model of keyboard he's using?
"Put it in Pro Tools at the wrong speed, have Posner do the hook, Wiz and Snoop rap over it, and there you go" I'm dying laughing over here, that stretch takes away from the quality of the sample, or maybe it's because you pointed it out. lol
Song??? 0:00
i like that where you from Jake ?
He's from Seattle
Digg THX
drums are the same as acid rap
ableton fans?
sickshitallover right here
+sickshitallover lol and he is in pro tools
+Chris Gamba I see that ;p
Jake One is one underrated sumbitch lol... So dope.
what keyboard does he use in these videos?????????
ASR-10
What's the track in the background?
In the beginning
"3 Kings" behind the beat
anyone know where he got the bassline from? it's smooth as fuck
might be time to sell it
Anybody know what he says he used for the arpeggiator soung on 3:36 ?
Starts with a "g" is what im hearing but cant figure it out.
+Iusedtohavemojo Sounds like he said, "on the juno"
on the gnome. Probably the Paia Gnome analogue synth
prolly was inpired by Dilla's jawn where he sampled Isley Brothers
Joe Soul what joint you talking about? The amount of dilla that exists blows my mind
somebody please tell what type keyboard he using
Ensoniq asr 10 troll
asr 10 sampler
how the hell did he take only the vocal and guitar samples from the music, could somebody answer me that question?
ps: I don't speak english
Jake has people play specific music for him to use. He probably had Swish play the guitar and the vocals came from "Acid Rain" I'm pretty sure.
The sampled vocals are from groove with you by the isley brothers
Lewisthe11thCullen Thanks, I knew it but i tried to sample this music and i couldn't isolate the vocals and guitars
alexandre cunha jake was probably using stems or a capella
+alexandre cunha use an equalizer to remove the low end from the sample (the low end is the deep bass and drum noises)
Beat is a lot similar to chances acid rain
Woodblock xD
He produced that one too.
Both songs have the exact same drums. I forgot which one, but another song on this album (Mac &Devin) has the same bass line.
Like
...Back to the drawing board.
What are the chords you used? :)
Legit thought this beat was a sample
Way better slowed down
That's crazy too bad. Wiz and snoop ruined it ....shoulda given tha to Common
No, sample rate wouldn't wouldn't affect the tempo.
