Great video. For 80 bass or French system 3+3 bass, which don’t have the diminished chord rows, the 7th is usually without the root, for example C7=E, G, Bb. This is for diminished substitutes, you could play Cdim7 with C on the Bass and F7 (A, C, Eb) on the chord, or C on the counter bass, Ab(C, Eb, Gb) on the chord, for sometimes easier fingerings. I found this also pretty useful!
Ah I get it - so one can play paired triads without notes clashing...and you can play either an altered scale OR a dominant diminished in the right hand over the same LH 7 chord. I really appreciate the video you also did about the tritone sub with sharp 11...thanks for your attention to detail and hard work
David, have you ever wondered? If you remove the 1st step of the chord (the main tone) in maj and min and leave the third and fifth. Then, in my opinion, the number of jazz chords increases. It’s an interesting idea. I do know that Frank Maroccco removed the root of the diminish chords. he liked the tritone for jazz voicing. I thought about it and there were a couple of existing voices I would miss. Still your idea is very interesting. Have you done something like this. I love to hear it.
Hi Josh, thanks. Yes to the mic holder. A client of mine made it and it works fairly well. It sometimes pops off from the bellow strap button , but that is rare. It’s a much more elegant and faster way to attach a mic than the old masking tape version..
