DEOSAI - LAND OF THE GIANT

Deosai: Land of the Giant tells the story of Deosai, its geography and history as well as the heroic effort of bear conservation and the establishment of a national park on the plateau. This video symbolizes the hope that the effort begun in the late 1980s will not go waste and that future travelers will see groups of bears roaming on Deosai without persecution.
The Deosai National Park is located in the Skardu, Gilgit Baltistan. The park is located on the Deosai Plains, that are among the highest plateaus in the world with an average height of 4,114 metres above the sea level, covering an area of about 3,000 square kilometers.
Deosai Plains make up one of the last frontiers of natural habitat for the Himalayan Brown Bear, a creature that once roamed the mountains freely. The Deosai National Park was established in 1993 to secure the survival of the bear and its habitat.

One of the best feature of marmot is to create the lakes or water reservoir in deosai..
How i will tell you .
I visits deosai last week .i noticed one thing there , when i aproaches the sheosar lake i see alot of small water paths very closed to the sheosar lake that were coming inside the earth surface , but they were not visible on the top of the surface from mountain to the lake. So i reached on a conclusion that these beautiful marmots digs tunnels under the surface of earth from mounain glacier to the lake...the road from astore to skardu near the lake tells the story ..that it didnt have any water crossing and water runs under the earth from that tunnels built by the marmots

Govt of GB should sow potato in this park right from beginning of spring seasons in Deosae enabling these brown bears to eat potatoes for their life... Mountaineer may be guided to bring with them potato seeds for bears. An other seed of ground nut and Sweet potato may also be cultivated.
