That was one of the most entertaining style vs style match ups. Really showed the streght and weakness of both styles. Both fighters fought well and adjusted as the fight went on. Excellent content.
it's true that Choy Lee Fut influenced Sanda. but not as dominant as the Northern Shaolin martial arts style such as kicks and Scissors, even the Sanda standing position is a ready-to-fight position in Northern Shaolin where the back leg is lighter to make kicking easier, then Shuai Jiao also really influences Sanda, all Slam and Sanda sweeps are Shuai Jiao combined with Bajiquan , for military variations, bajiquan is more dominant. These 3 aspects of the martial arts are the most influential in Sanda
@@elmagnifico5248 thanks for pointing that out. Many people underestimate how much Sanda is influenced by Northern Shaolin...and Chinese wrestling. People like to shit on Sanda by saying its just kick boxing with throws. No...its a legitimate Chinese expression. Its good that Fight commentary is finally respecting Sanda and showing its fights. If the sanda guy figured out how to make a stance for his clinch and throws without leaving himself open for knees to the groin or mid section, he'll be dominating more. For the muay thai guy, he needs to learn to do the marco crocop, push the person away for his kick and punches and strikes.

The match up really favors the Sanda guy. Physically he is taller, has reach, heavier and younger. Also Sanda seems to want to blitz out right away and the goes to a more slower stretch. Muay Thai fighters (for reasons of style it seems) start slower and move directly at the opponent to see what they have. Don’t bet me wrong but this just is not surprising in these points. That said the Sanda guy is good and he is using his advantages and abilities perfectly at the start just as you should.

I used to train sanda, if you re going to throw a kick you better make it quick and you have stable posture when recovering from it or you will get thrown real easy.
That throw which made the Muay Thai guy fell on his head, I don’t think it is intentional tho, although you can tell that was a hard through, but I don’t think he calculated that precisely and accurately to make the opponent fell on his head. I rather think it is the Muay Thai fighter who is not very used to being thrown, so he doesn’t know how to fell more safely and it looks like that, which is normal in many standup styles.
Re the MT fighters in these matches not preparing for the ruleset - who are they going to bring over to do these throws? I don’t think it’s that easy to find people to help spar for this event. You could have the best sweep fighters in the gym step it up, but it wouldn’t hold a candle to actual variety and effectiveness of takedowns from someone who trains that ruleset
Buakaw and other muay thai fighters never let the opponent land three times with the same technique let alone more than three times .. muay thai is all about adapting the opponents moves at the end of the first round... or so i thought 🤔

huh? did you not see the elbow pads? The ruleset allowed for the whole MT arsenal, along with Sanda throws. I dont think the MT guy was able to get many sweeps or elbows off though cause he was getting thrown so often by the Sanda guy. He did land some knees, that arguably knocked down the Sanda fighter though, idk - the Sanda fighter was acting like it was a low blow, but maybe that was just his excuse not to get called a knockdown.
