@@_chipchip The NSX was available in late 1990 as a 1991 model year in the US. In Japan it was released as a 1990. I am not sure about the rest of the world. For some reason, I really like the way the car slides with all four wheels @1:51! Looks like you could steer the car with only slight movements on the steering wheel! It's a sign of a really driver-friendly car! Perfectly balanced!
I’m sure a Japanese pro driver would almost be able to do the same job required for the set up, but it’s just wonderful and out of this world to have Senna test drive and set up there flagship supercar isn’t it? It’s truly a marriage made in heaven, both in a practical and marketing sense.
Not really. Pro driver is a very vague term because there are many racing disciplines - road, off-road, drift, drag, etc. And under road racing there are many sub categories, each requiring a slightly different skillset. For example NASCAR racing is a different skillset to GT racing. And knowing GT doesn't automatically make you good in Formula racing. And vice versa. So on and so forth. Back then there was no Japanese Formula driver anywhere near the top, let alone Champion. And even today. They wanted the NSX to be Formula-derivative like Ferraris are. Hence the significance of feedback from a Formula Champion.
@@winterpurple4587 good point, there may not have been a Japanese F1 driver as such, but all other Japanese cars were developed without one, the Nissan GTR was developed without one and it’s doing fine. One thing I've always noticed about Senna's driving, is that his steering inputs can be quite extreme, and same with this throttle inputs, jabbing at the throttle repeatedly. From footage inside the car things look extreme and aggressive. But video from outside the car, video from the side of the track, the car looks entirely composed, not changing its directional angle anymore than was intended.
