I've had Ikea send me replacement parts on products over 15 years old. I keep all assembly instructions in a file so I can give them the actual part number.
The Ikean was blown away when I gave the very old parts number for a discounted connector. It was for a cabinet I had disassembled for a move. He did some research and called me back a couple of days later. He had found something similar and had already put a dozen in the mail. It was a tiny bit shorter but still worked.
Talk about great customer service.

I would like to point out that there is a major exception to this: IKEA has to still make/store the part you lost. After a recent move, the moving company lost the screws for the computer desk I had bought in 2012 from IKEA. They did not make the desk nor those particular screws anymore so they could not replace that part. Though bless the person in the customer service department that tried to find a close approximation to work. It didn't but I bought the replacement desk at IKEA.
That is the entire philosophy of the IKEA brand. If you're experience is well. You will be happy to come back multiple times. You are there ambassador.

Yeah, Ikea takes notes from it’s homeland on consumer practices. There’s strict consumer laws in Scandinavia, so if they take a perk that’s expected of them and bring it to a place it’s unheard of, of course it’s gonna be popular.

as someone who just got a whole new living room from ikea i had to deal with this personally. they didnt include wall attachment and one of the hinges of a door was broke on delivery. they mailed us the pieces within 4 days. their customer service is top tier. also their billy bookcases are def something to check out!
So cheap and worth it. Love Billy bookcase.

@@annisadwiputri it’s a reference to an SCP. SCP-3008 AKA Endless IKEA. They are IKEAs that look perfectly normal but once you go in you can’t find the exits and the store is infinitely large. The employees are also deformed and have no face, they become aggressive after lights off. It goes much deeper so id suggest looking into it.
A friend of mine worked at IKEA. Here in Sweden the average person spend so much at IKEA in their lifetime that it's better to replace anything instead of losing a customer. My brother got drunk and jumped on the bed until it broke (the bed was at least 5 years old). He took it to IKEA and got a new one no questions asked.

That’s how most products that require assembly work. You just call them and tell them the part is defective or wasn’t in the kit, they’ll send you a new one.

Yeah I’m quite surprised if stores in the US doesn’t have this, it’s really common to be able to return/replace or get spare parts in Sweden and I’d imagine it’s like this in most of Europe
If you scan your family pass you can also get a free replacement if you broke your item when taking it home or during assembly.
I love shopping in IKEA, but back in 2003 to 2005 I worked in the offices there. Bullying was rife. I wish they treated their employees the same way that they treat their customers. I still shop there, and always show the staff the respect that they deserve.
We can just make a bunch of burner emails and say we lost parts to a single table and we could get a table absolutely free

You need to have the original receipt from when you have purchased your product. That is one of the conditions you have to follow up with.

Once a drawer railing started getting stuck and it was a nightmare to get a replacement though. That cupboard was a custom built by their designers and costed me an arm and a leg too.
Here in Sweden this is common knowledge as they tell you they have a 100% garante on returns for a couple years after you buy it

If you’re from the UK, argos has the same system. I’ve had free replacements for parts from something I bought years ago. They have a website where you can search for the item and they will give you a list of what you can get then it will be posted to the address you give them. You don’t have to have a receipt or anything

If the parts broke the ikea give you a small replacement so they don’t have to lose your value you, mange buying it for eighty dollars when the parts break they give you a replacement the one part cost ten dollars to keep their value up
