I personally think this is the most important advanced scratch to learn.
Shiftee, you crack me up. Solid lessons with a sense of humor. Props on your achievements, and I hope your hands continue to unleash the fury for years to come.
Gosh... you make everything look so smooth....
and the ahhhh's are killing me.
Gracias Shiftee!! Te amo! jajajaja... Logré perfeccionar mis orbits gracias a tí!
Dubspot - you forgot to include - this is coming from the NEW 2009 DMC WORLD CHAMP!! hahaaa.. big ups to Shiftee for bring it back to the USA!!
Congrats shiftee!
Great lesson and laughs
made me so want salsa
Yes I am!
I like that variation of the baby in between the forward and reverse, another one I've seen which I can't seem to get yet is performing a baby after EACH forward and back movement. like forward push baby backwards pull baby and repeat, putting the two clicks in the middle of each pull or push.
Great job Shiftee! Important question! - what's your opinion on scratching with a controller? Can a DDJ-SZ be just as effective?
now unless ive been wrong this whole time or unless west coast names are different than east coast, orbits are just a description of a flare where the clicks mirror each other forwards and backwards, so you can have 1 click orbits, 2 click orbits... 3 click orbits... ect...
wuts best to set the crossfader at? all the way sharp curve or leave a lil curve open to it???
nicest orbit and flare tutorial to date! Hot Hot Hot *ouch that burns*
what record has the best dj breaks and samples????
sharpest
yup
whats the beat he scratches over at the end?
@slicksyde NickNack "Soundcraftsman Vol 1" on Crowd Control Records. Seems I can't post links here, so search youtube for "soundcraftsman demo" and you can see more on the record and where to get it.
does anybody if the close should be closed on the backwards stroke?
ahhhhhh.... SALSA
@jointbuttz aaahhhhhhhh
I still don't understand the relation that the crossfader has to the sound and how to learn the proper co-ordination needed for the record hand and the crossfader hand. I refuse to believe that these skills are only attainable through birth, but I do find it very difficult to learn.
homie needs some organic corn chips, real turntable heroes dont eat monsanto!
One thing no one talkes about in flare-type scratch tutorials is the fader hand position(?) change when you double the speed. At 1:30 the hand looks to be one way, at 1:35 looks different. It seams like when in high/double speed the focus stops being on the thumb closing the fader.. kind of like in chirps.. for me this is the hard part to learn.
same with me too D-One been working on this for solid 6 months now can get it fast ish....., but not sure on the correct way to make it get to light year speeds, trying stay positive keep practicing it just hope haven't missed something vital for the muscle memory
2 click flare = orbit
He does have a point about Monsanto chips.....
@slicksyde NickNack "Soundcraftsman Vol 1"
Man, this guy is such a dork. But hey, I am too so it's all good!
Load the video and scratch with the 3 and 5 keys ! :D
TURN THE GAIN DOWN AND GET OUT OF THOSE RED LIGHTS!
so...an orbit is the same as a 2 click flare? o.O
Kind of. A two click flare forwards and backwards is called an orbit
this makes me want to give up, i will never be that good..
ssaallssaa...........
2000$ for an online course ? Wow ...
hey man at least use authentic Goya salsa and not some cheep Shop Right shit lol
