Can you test all of these sets against a true High End Cine set?
Show us how close they all come, yet what they still can't quite achieve.
Just thought I'd share some of my experience with these lenses. I just received the 5 lens set 2 days ago and its already plagued with quality control issues. The aperture on my 100mm and 25mm squeal and make a moderate metal on metal rubbing sound. The 50mm's focus barrel is rubbing metal on metal when racking focus and is much louder than the other lenses in the set. The other lenses in the set are quieter, but I can still hear them focusing, which is not normal.
I'm working with DZO to get these issues fixed now. Will update when I get it resolved. Hope its just an early manufacturing issue and it gets resolved. The image is quite amazing.
These with Tokina Vistas, and Nisi Athenas, also super curious how all those stack up to high end cinema clean lenses like signiture primes and Zeiss Supremes, cooke S8
I would add Sigmas too.
Compare the DZO Arles, Tokina Vistas, Cooke S8 and the Zeiss Supreme Primes please
This is the review I was waiting for!
Would love to see the Tokina Vistas in the lens test along with the ones you already pictured
Agreed, definitely want to see them compared to Tokina Vista
I'm beyond hyped for this video!
02:47 they are user changable tho imperial/ metric dont have to choose when buying
Stellar informative video as usual! For your future spherical lens comparison video if you could please test the IRIX Cine lens set that would be great!
Fantastic review. Thanks again CVP team. Really respect these fun videos
Please include IRIX lenses to your big test
ALWAYS on point with the perfect balance of technical and aesthetic-without the obvious bias towards the traditional Eurocentric/Japanese imaging ideals.
As excited as I am about these lenses, I am hoping to see someone test them with a spectrum of non-white skintones. We always hear about how warm and complimentary the skintones are...but we never see them tested with black folk. As a sports shooter, 99% of the subjects I work with are dark-skinned and sweating in the hot, tropical midday sun. There is no such thing as "highlight rolloff" - it's near-true black shadows and blazing white hotspots from the sweat. Would love to see some testing with these DZO products under the chai latte-to-café-espresso range of skintones under really challenging light conditions!!
I love the look of this lens.
informative video thanks CVP
Yes, please include Canon CN-E primes as they are my favorite primes and match perfectly with the Flex Zooms!
This was the Arles video I was waiting for! Thank you for the tests
Thanks for the review! For the price, this is a very good deal. It would be very interesting to see a comparison with the Nano Primes, SP3, Tokina Vista and maybe Supremes. You guys make really useful videos, thank you!
What you didn't really go into - I guess because it is sort of subjective - is the three dimensional feel that they produce that reminds me of cooke lenses.
I'd say it's not that subjective as it is difficult to measure scientifically 😶
@@malzyou just defined "subjective."
I would love to see the IRIX Cine lenses in your showdown.
Re: big spherical roundup - I would like to see Irix added to the mix. Nobody ever talks about them while they seems super good price-performance wise and they are weather-sealed!
these are going to be killer for the price and size! cant wait to upgrade from my vespid set
Please include the Irix Cine lenses!
Great review! I would definitely love to see the Arles compared to the Nisi Athena Primes. Do any glass elements protrude out from the back of the Arles lenses when racking focus, similar to the Athena lenses?
Please include the Sigma High Speeds in the comparison.
Great Video as alwasys!
These lenses are beasts. Love my set. They remind me a bit of the Zeiss superspeed mkiis.
Excellent video as always. How do you think these compare to the NISI Athena Set?
They are not at the same level
@@user-fc8hs5og6f yep but Speaking of Quality and price / size, NISI win
Athina is not even closer to this
I just bought the IRIX Prod Set. That makes me wonder if I made the right decision lol
we need a review of the irix set of lenses.
I really want these
How do these compare to the Zeiss outs lenses if I remember you guys said you loved those
How do they compare to a Milvus/Otus Set ? Thanks
Really would like to see a test against supreme primes. I had a set for testing and really liked them a lot.
Which will match the Catta Ace zooms better? Vespid or Arles?
Would love to see a comparison of the Arles primes and the Tokina Vista Primes
can't wait for the lens comparaison video. Please add OTUS :)
I’d like to see Irix in the comparison please, and Ironglass as a vintage reference.
It’s hard to know what “character” and “clinical” means without demos.
The most interesting lens setes to compare these to would be the Nisi Athenas, Meike's 1,000£ ish set (I don't remember the name), Zeiss Nano Primes, Zeiss C.P.3, Cooke S.P.3, Sigma cine lenses.
Aldo I'd love to see more smaple footage.
Where can I find the flare test video on vimeo?
The flange overstand of rear element would be interesting - often a not given info. It's because of the usability with (ND-)Filter slot-in adapters for RF/Z/E/L .... mounts. For example the NiSi Athenas are way to long at the back side to use this kind of adapters.
Would you consider these sharp lens like IRIX, Sigma, or Zeiss?
For the comparison I'd love to see the Arles, Athenas, Nano Primes, SP3s and Tokina Vistas. Also maybe get an expensive lens on there like the Supreme Primes or Angénieux Optimo Primes, as sort of a benchmark lens
Could you possibly compare the Rokinon T1.5 Cine DS Lenses in the big test video? I know this is a lot cheaper than the others, but there are a lot of creators and filmmakers like me out there who have really small budgets and might look at lenses like these. Great, informative video as always!
There should be no competition other than the similar T stop. Even some photo lens sets have better matching cinema qualities than the Rokinon "Cine" set.
@@frankfeng2701 Yeah, maybe he could make a video comparing other very budget lenses to each other.
Please include the Tokina Cinema Vista primes in your comprehensive lens comparison. I am about to purchase a set of cinema primes and would love to know how they compare to the DZO Arles lenses.
In what way does the price difference of ~€1000 show in comparison to other cine lenses priced €1'000 - 1'500. I find that hard to judge.
I would love to see new Laowa Argus Cine S35, MFT and FF test. I believe they could be the best cine lenses for the price.
would love to see Meike lenses thrown in that lens test as well.
Would love to see the Dulens against them. Sure there are quiet a lot of differences, but might be interesting nontheless. One big and fast set and one smaller but slower set. How do they perform? :)
Please do a review of XEEN Meisters
NiSi, DZO or NanoPrimes... which one you will prefer for a indi feature film project? For a better theatrical performance...
Go SIGMA
@@user-qu6kq4og5u Any feature film for reference?
Aren’t these twice the price of the Athena’s?
Would love to see a comparison of these against the Athena, Nano Primes, and one other. Thanks
Yeah almost 2x the price, Athena is ~$6k for a set of 5 while Arles is ~$10k.
I recently decided to get my first cine lens set, officially, and I looked at the Athena’s, Vespids, Dulens APO Minis, and now, Arles, I’m leaning towards the Arles more… but the size and weight is a slight slight turn down compared to the other ones in my list.
I want character in my image, the Athena’s are a bit “normal” from what I’ve seen so I would love a comparison between this lenses, awesome video as always guys !
You want character look at The DZO Vespids Retro addition. They de-tuned them to feel for like vintage lenses
DZO, plz give us a zoom version of these beauties
Killers of the budget 😢
Any high-end lens at this point in time without Advanced lens data for both camera and virtual production is just aimed at hobbits.
At first I was like "One more cinema lens set? Nah I dont need it", but then I saw how it looks and I went "Wow thats cool!" But I still dont need it, cause I dont shoot cinema 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I just dont like the image coming from theses lenses... (it's the third video i watch about it). Loving the Cooke SP3 but definitivly not theses
The Chinese make the SP3. 😂😂
@@realistfilms ?
@@Slau31 Did you have a question?
@@realistfilms sure, why did you say "Dzo makes the SP3 ?" I don't get it
@@Slau31 Because it is true,. You have been informed. I investigated and it's not common knowledge. They are nice, but hyped and over priced.
The image is nice and the fast aperture is for sure a bonus. Anyway, they are FAR from really high end cinema lenses in terms of feeling and "3D pop". Don't get me wrong, they're perfect for corporate videos and stuff like that but I can't see them in "proper" cinema set being used by DP with a certain taste
Get good composition and lighting and you'll have "3d pop" on any lens..
Lately I can only view videos in 360p max… lame!
The colors on DZO's are always bad
A bit too sharp for my taste.
