- My first live show after 10 months had to be special: I built the set as a collage, an homage to the forgotten synths of Marche. Capturing their sound on tape at the Museo del Synth Marchigiano and looping them on stage. Watch the behind the scenes here: • The Forgotten Synthesi...

I was there in the first row. Some amazing moments (the tape manipulation in general, also as a performative element, which is rather uncommon to see in electronic music concerts, the ending, and a lot of other moments), some minor downs in tension here and there (maybe a little too long? Not a critique obviously, just an impression as part of the audience and at the same time as a musician). Really amazing skills and taste in managing the timbre and the frequencies spectrum. Great show! Hope to see you more often in Italy!
Ha thanks! I had not labelled my tape loops in the rush to make them, so except for the first the progression was guided by a bit of random, or posh: aleatoric. And the tape machine is a bit painful to do the live loops on, due to the heads being “hidden”. That caused longer times between parts than with my usual Nagra. But flight weight limits are flight weight limits 😄.
@@Hainbach it's a natural process related to improvisation techniques that I love, no worry! It's part of the experience, it's where reality enters in the compositions and I totally love the liveness and sincereness of it as an improviser of electroacoustic music and contemporary musician myself. So yeah, it's just how it works! The process is most of the time more interesting than the product and it should definetely be part of the connection with an audience! A live performance is something different from a record and we should preserve all the "flaws" and "inefficiencies" because they are precious and unique, imo.
very cool!
This performance is so inspiring to me. I've been making music on and off for the last 5 years and had a year or two where I felt like I couldn't do stuff like this on stage at a concert because people wouldn't be into it for not being more upbeat or more polished. Seeing you perform like this reassures me that I can do the experimental music I've been wanting to do again live for people without worrying about it too much. You're an amazing and innovative artist and I'm glad I found you
People are more open minded than what charts and mainstream radio make it look like! I totally get that worry, the work to detaching ourselves from these imagined expectations is worth it :)
It's only since I've been really involved in music production that I've come to appreciate performances like this. Not to say they aren't enjoyable without that knowledge or experience. However, being aware of the craftsmanship and creativity it takes to make this happen, makes it that much easier to appreciate and enjoy it.
Cheers!
Amazing! And I also love the german-style white socks! 🤩
They are Japanese :-)
@@Hainbach The Japanese still copy a lot... :)
Brilliant Hainbach! You really remind me of Chris Franke from Tangerine dream. The same vibe when they played live = mesmerising, exciting, unpredictable.
I loved the crunchy, shambling beat in the middle section. Good stuff as usual Hainbach.
An incredible pleasure to be there. The show was magic.
Phwoah, super jealous of your experience! How long afterwards did his music stick in your head, did it become part of your memory bank soundtrack?
Just delightful bro. Your musical patience is incredible.
Great! Had perform at the same place few years ago...
A new hainbach live set is always a world of sound to appreciate and learn from. Thank you for your art and your videos, they really bring me so much joy and inspiration ❤️
This collage style works great! So many moods and textures and contrasts instead of long ambientsy fades or evolves. And some epic harmonies! Distilled HAINBACHNESS 100%.
Ah thank you! I want to more of this style in the future when I play my “normal” set. But next set will be something completely new
Great! Got it playing right now on two different bluetooth systems in the house with a slight delay, perfect!!
Das ist so geil. Ich hoffe, dass ich den Maestro mal in DE live sehen werde. Das ist offensichtlich ein wundervolles Ereignis. Beneide jeden, der dort zugegen war
Thanks for this Hainbach. Really beautiful set
Right on! Watching your last video, I was hoping we would get to see more footage of the show. Thanks for this!
This is really fascinating 👏 👌 👍. I just wondered how you planned it all. Did you have a plan? Was there moments you were just seeing what would happen?
Love it
I had plan, but that got changed by not labelling the tape loop containers. So I was surprised every time and had to deal with what was on it.
@@Hainbach In improvisation, the first hurdle to get over is "the plan".
i love it all! the visuals are a big plus
stone washed synths ... bellisssimo
wow what an amazing performance. That must of been special to not only play the set but for the audience to listen. I am so jealous of the audience right now.
BRAVO BRAVO BRAVO ! ... so excited to see my dear old friend, the UHER 4200 (4400) ? ... sorry I sold you ... ;-) ! In the 70ties I had 2 of them connected via a 3m loop of tape - and yes, mike stands were indispensable at That time ...

Bravo wunderschon wonderful ! Can I ask you how you "manage" the visual part ? Pré generated videos with sound reactive effects ? Have you a control on that during the live ? I love the scenography ( & your beautiful socks :-))
What a journey. Thank you for this 45 Minutes. Especially like the first part. And +1 for your Outfit ;-)
Now there's something exiting, look forward to enjoying it later, on repeat!
FANTASTIC Hainbach, a Future Europa Trip will be highlighted by attending a Hainbach live performance!
Clearly hainbachs knees stole the show. How can anyone even dream of paying attention to the music when the most glorious knees in the history of the planet are on display here. Even when I close my eyes all I can see is beauty in its most pure form ....the haunting glory of hainbachs knees.
Richtiges Schlaff Zeit.
Absolutely stunning. Love from San Francisco..
That opening part! The first minute. You had me there already.. even before we got to the silences.
Wonderful sounds and fierce socks. It's Hainbach!
This is like watching a master blacksmith or a tea master work
Where that harsh ragged noisy percussive sound starting at 25:08 comes from?
ohhhh 23:00 is awesome! (im listening on studio monitors and that stereo is great!
Did people Need the infamous pass to enter the show in Ancona?
I can see the bass vibrations shacking the camera.
Good to have you back (on stage) :)
Simply stunning, thank you so much for sharing
Absolutely gorgeous polyphonic textures throughout
this is amazingly meditative.. thank you..
I wish I could of been there , very cool
12:50 like straight up boards of canada
He did it again. Thanks kind sir. 🙏🏾
What is this style of music ? Is it noice?
Fantastic. I wish I had been there.
the only problem is its too short lol
Amazing 🤩
The subs sound epic!
Ah yes I'm right on time.
You borrow time to cast out time, and space unfolds, Mister Hainbach you can take me on a journy beyond, therefore I thank you!!!!!!!!! Just love this over and over!
You have legs!
Socks are the focal
wow. beautiful.
Truly awesome!
This is really cool
Beautiful exposure to experimental live music. So brave you are to share your passion with the public. Some musicians did live shows like this here and there back in the sixties with crazy electronic gear that was on the cutting edge of EDM. My older siblings got to attend but I was too young to go.
Wonderful
this is so good
Я думал ты из дома не выходишь :)
Thank you for sharing this wonderful concert; I so enjoy your musical stylings... =^D
Great show, the outro is amazing. Reminded me of Hollerei by Reformed Faction. Question: what's the little wooden box you used there, next to the cassette player?
That is gentle wham drum module drone synth
@@Hainbach Thanks! I actually meant the Squishable (found out by scanning through your other videos). Btw your videos completely changed and re-energized my creative flow in these last few months. Out with number-staring and predictable routes, in with the fresh and unexpected. For the first time I'm starting to hear myself, find myself. Thanks for that.
Sorry I wasn't there now! Sounds great though. I'll be returning to this as I like seeing how structure emerges from these aleatoric processes.
Bravo!!!!!
Loved it. Really liked how you manually slowed down the tape; that was awesome. How long did it take to set all of that up?
Clever done 🎼
Gött nojs!
beautiful outro
This is unsettling yet intriguing and beautiful. Great performance
cool
Ganz grosse Klasse !
FANTASTICO

You're one of our yet-unmet mentors. Thank you, Hainbach
Amazing sound scapes! 🙏🏻👍✌️
This was really awesome! Thanks for sharing Hainbach!
8:33
the trumphant return of the son of "that guy Steakhausen"!
Awesome live awesome person
Thank you so much!
Awesome set Hainbach, it's good to have Bach on stage
Brillant!
😎
What’s that tape case you got?
Pill case for the reel to reel, tapeline case for the cassettes
It's a whole different experience to listen to your live performance instead of your (amazing) videos. Yes, it's a great sound journey here, with a lot of good taste. I guess you were improvising the whole set, it has some pretty nice highlights! Nice to see this after enjoying your visit at the Museo del Synth!
Yeah, more improvised than I had planned as I forgot to label my loops, so that was an element of chaos :-)
@@Hainbach the sounds are so gooood! The performance is very nice anyway.
out of curiosity, how long is your setup time, the whole time i was watching (its cool dont get me wrong) but im just thinking of the times other bands would bring like huge drumsets they took forever to set up and it cut some of their play time out
my old bands tried to keep their setup times well under 10 minutes, with a goal of about 5 minutes
bands are a bit different than this of course, but just curious, like bringing the fatback tvs is a cool aesthetic but geeeez i cant imagine bringing those on the road
I usually setup on a table while the other bands are sound checking, which takes about 20 min. Then I check for 15 min.
I flew there with the stuff on the table . TVs were there from the previous band, the VJ and me got a long so he also played with me.
WOW! Wonderful!
still love your work!! Ganzes, reiche Gesamtheit, gewaltige Fülle, worin verschiedenartige Einzelheiten eindrucksvoll zusammenwirken nennt man glaube ich Sinfonie.
Herzlichen Dank!
J’adore votre musique
Merci!
@@Hainbach u welcome !
