Wow!!! Thank you guys for all the love on this video. This is back from 2021 when I was just starting out with my videos and trying out different mixing techniques- all the way up to the industry standards now. :) I got the idea for this video concept from Chris May, who I ended up working with on a cover of the song “Georgia On My Mind,” which is on my channel now! I also have a brand new song out called “Something To Believe In.” It would mean the world if you all could check out more of my videos and subscribe!
I wonder would Richard Carpenter still have the voice and the patience for doing some new harmonies and overdubbing with you, now that you touched base with him for a minute in Downey? I guess we can wait and see if Chris May can help make this happen. Richard sang a note or two at the Downey Embassy Suites interview a few weeks ago. He still has that bass in his voice in a note I heard. 🤞
Tori, I grew up listening to the Carpenters and watching their live shows on TV. In fact I still have all the original LPs. I'm sure you get many people telling you how talented you are, but seeing you compile not just Karen's parts but Richard's to is...... just amazing. No pitch correct, just a God given gift. Keep performing and recording. Although the current music industry might not want to produce the music you want, there are a lot of people that want to see and hear an great talent like you.
As a massive Carpenters fan for over 50 years, can't believe how close you are to recreating their unique harmonies. By far the best I've ever heard. More please!!
Just found your YT channel. You not only sound very much like Karen, you are one of the very few people today that know the Carpentets creating what became the modern and much used overdubs. Brother Richard had much to do with it all.
Tori Are you real? Wow! I love this. I have been singing Carpenters at aged care places with a team, now disfunc. I love the sound. I have been told I sound like Karen too. Would it not be great to do a duet?
I’ve always wanted to know how that was recorded . My father in 1972 was a back up classical violinist for the Carpenters . We only just begun was his favorite but also my parents wedding first dance in August 1973 . My father played for many Entertainers .. but loved the Carpenters. I’d say growing up as a musicians daughter you my dear are literally Karen reincarnated… I remember when she, died but the stories my dad has .. this made my day as well as my fathers. … my father is retired now and is 81 .. both parents been married 50 years .

I cried too, at that moment. I was 10 in 1970 when the Carpenters hit the big time. I, born with an ear, loved them... Imagine how much mean crap I got for liking such a soft act in the age of rock. My "friend" who was most cruel, only THOUGHT he could sing. Four years of theater in college, but sang flat just like most people. The Carpenters were reviled by the critics, and loved by the public. I'm so happy to see people appreciate this style. There is so much they would have gotten around to doing if she'd lived... There's a treasure trove of possibilities.
I was 2 in 1970 but the Carpenters were popular throughout the decade. I thought they were kind of middle-of-the-road and thought she sounded a bit vanilla, but hey, I was a kid. What did I know? 😂
I can so relate. I was 14 and hanging out during summer vacay with my cousin in Carson, California when we passed a store with a radio playing and it was Close to You. I stopped dead in my tracks. I too have a really good ear and can spot talent from a mile away, even at that age. I could not believe what I had heard. I was in a trance. Cousin was totally uninterested because in those days she was hanging with low riders in East LA and they only listened to 50s oldies; which was cool I dug it too. She laughed at that amazing song but I didn't care. I never let anyone put peer pressure on me. I still well up when I hear it. The entro with Richard on those piano keys gets me going. It's one of my Big music memories like where I was when I first heard the Beatles as a small child and Elvis too. I am thrilled Tori loves Karen as much Carpenter's older fans do. I agree I wonder what Karen and Richard would be producing these days. They were mega talented.
I know it might be a stretch, but maybe she should contact Richard Carpenter about permissions to re- record the music or even collaborate with him on new music.

I'm so glad for you - and all of us - that you and Jim Wilkas found each other and you were able to fully realize this project! The full number was/is nothing less than mind-blowing; I crumpled into a sobbing mess when I first heard it, and could only keep repeating "How?" once I recovered. Here's to a long and rewarding career ahead! May all best wishes and prayers follow you!
Oh my God, that gave me chills too! How do you know how long to hold each note, are you watching a clock? I’ve played keyboards professionally locally for over 30 years and you just amaze me! You know you have perfect pitch right? Wow, still waiting for long videos from you! What a God given perfect pitch voice you have, wow! You realize not many singers have this same blessing. Wow, need more videos! Thanks. Take Care!
You are misusing the term "perfect pitch." What you meant to say is "you sing perfectly in tune." There is no catchy term for a person that can do that. "Perfect pitch" is a term that means that a person can recognize what note they are hearing and can name the note, like F# or Bb. You can play random notes on a piano and they can name them. Believe it or not, neither Richard nor Karen had that ability, so neither of them had "perfect pitch," although both of them could sing perfectly in tune.
I am absolutely smitten with your singing. I saw you on "Wings of Pegasus" nailing the notes with a solid side by side with Karen. I immediately added you to my Spotify. KEEP IT COMING. Karen died way too early - don't go doing that.

Absolutely! I’m always astonished by her technique.
I mean that's a very achievable skill with a few years of practice. It's so common that there's a name in Italian: Messa di Voce

Just had to, was it a coincidence?

@@jbs256 No! Actually I was not thinking about that at all... Just a subliminal word choice, I suppose... Cheers, my friend! 😀
@@leapguy1235 cool. 😃
Have I said WOW lately. Gosh I love your voice Torey!
I'm so impressed Tori!
I think you nailed it. Sounds very authentic. I had the great fortune to see them live in Vegas in the early 70s. They were fantastic.
I'M PRAYING THAT RICHARD TAKES YOU ON THE ROAD AND DO THIS LIVE ❤I WOULD TRULY PAY TO SEE YOU TWO DO THIS LIVE 🙏🏿 ❤
Man your voice is incredible. Please never stop singing
You're amazingly talented ❤️. The Carpenters were a very gifted band with a unique sound. Thank you for sharing.
You actually sound enough like her that I could easily be fooled. I usually have a very good ear for voices. Great job recreating that. Sweet sound.
Absolutely NAILED it!!! Young lady buckle up.... you're fixin to go viral I believe.
WOW! IMO, you nailed it, Tori! It brought me to tears just like the original. What a damned shame that we lost Karen. Thank you SO MUCH!
aw thank you!
What a gift! Keep making music! You make us old guys very happy by bringing back great memories!
I am absolutely smitten with your singing. I saw you on "Wings of Pegasus" nailing the notes with a solid side by side with Karen. I immediately added you to my Spotify. KEEP IT COMING. Karen died way too early - don't go doing that.
Beautiful
Voice of an angel
Good Lord, it was like watching magic created from scratch. Thank you.
fantabulous 🔥
Yea yes yes! Thats the way it is. Its the Carpenters. Im having goosebumps! Beautiful! Thank you so much!
Goosebumps here too, Tori, when I heard your total mix. Bravo - well done and well sung.
Beautiful voice - thanks for sharing!!
