I bought the El Tesoro Repo a few months ago from another video of yours. Growing up, tequila was the “party” drink and videos have opened me up to a different world. I just bought the El Tesoro Blanco tonight and will give a try this week.
How's the Cimarron Resposado? I've tried a similarly priced repo, Arette Reposado and it was fantastic. Would you say it's a good sipper or mainly great as a mixer?
@VincentGonz The Cimarron Repo is good, as a stand alone drink (for me & my wife & she's a Latina), it has a unique agave flavor, that is soft on the palete & has the slightest hint of sweetness, but the agave flavor seems to lightly linger. I'm a senior & I can easily do 3 shots with salt & lime, but in a Margarita... it's divine. Hope that helps, my friend, I think you would enjoy drinking it... Regards!🥃🧂🍋🟩
My top 5 is: 1. Cascanes reposado 2. La gritona reposado 3. Mijenta reposado 4. Chamucos anejo 5. Cabal reposado Have not tried g4, ocho, fortaleza yet
So many good tequilas out there. Love that these brands are getting the attention they deserve. For me: Daily - Siempre plata Wow guests - Fortaleza Repo Cocktail - Tapatio 110 Friday night - G4 Madera Special occasion - Ocho Puntas
Love El Tesoro. Drinking Mijenta currently. Just finished Sieta. Cannot find Forta...will try Cacanes next. I am a repo neat kinda guy. Graduated from DJ and Costco brands. Happy you educated me! Salud.
So glad you made this list Luis! I can't recall if you've reviewed Cascahuin as I was suprised they weren't included in this video. But so many good ones, I guess they can't all make it. 👍
Hi Lui. I recently subscribed to your channel to learn more about tequila. I used to drink tequila a while back but stopped because I really didn't know what I do now about what I was drinking which as it turns out was garbage. Thanks for the educational videos which you make interesting. I just picked up a bottle of Ocho single barrel , single estate cask strength anejjo after talking to my local mom and pop liquor store owners. They had just got in 4 bottles and offered me one since they knew me. I paid $105.00 for it which seemed kinda high but it was supposed to be something special. Not sure this is the best place to start on my journey with "real" tequila but you only live once!
I live Las Vegas where’s there’s lots of bars ,clubs ,restaurants lounges and tequila connoisseurs and just casuals , I don’t expect to see forteleza in any of the stores I go to they are like unicorns except in this case they really exist
Purchased two bottles of Fortaleza yesterday online. I paid 99 for the Blanco and 149 for the Repo I also found still strength at another store for 129
My 5 go to: El Amo Premium Repo - Cheap daily G4 Blanco - simple sipper Cascahuin Blanco - all around alternative to G4 Tapatio Anejo - affordable inoffensive sipper with some color Vago Mexicano - Interesting mezcal sipper
I’m late to the party and would love to be different but I can’t argue with some of the juice you had in the running! Fun thought exercise. 1: Mijenta Blanco 2: G4 Repo (before Fortaleza blew up I used to give guests these two repos as a side-by-side to highlight Valley vs. Altos) 3: Don Fulano Fuerte 4: Fuenteseca Cosecha 2018 5: Ocho Puntas 2021
Purchased two bottles of Fortaleza yesterday online. I paid 99 for the Blanco and 149 for the Repo I also found still strength at another store for 129. Winter blends are pretty widely available probably due to the price tag some of them are in the thousands.
Fantastic choices Lui. I guess I've chosen wisely as I have 3 of these too plus a couple of your runner ups. Thanks for the education on quality tequila
Great list! We like olmec altos blanco a bit more than cimarron as our go to cocktail tequila but still really enjoy cimarron. I need to try a still strength tequila!
Daily: -Lagrimas Del Valle Plata (El Sabino) or ArteNOM 1579 Guests: -El Tesoro Repo or Tequila Ocho Plata Cocktail: -El Tequileno Regular Repo or Tapatio Repo Friday Night: Cascahuin 48 Plata High Proof or Wild Common Blanco Special Day: Fortaleza Still Strength or Mijenta Maestra Selection
Mine would probably be 1. Fortaleza Still Strength 2. Fuenteseca Cosecha 3. G4 Reposado 4. ArteNOM 1146 5. Tears of Llorona I’m sure winter blend would have a spot on my list but unfortunately never had the opportunity to taste 😢
I recently tried Don Abraham blanco and it instantly became my favorite blanco, even more than Fortaleza. The natural sweetness is incredible. What’s your opinion on DA?
Recently, I've been enjoying the inexpensive and additive free Lunazul Reposado. Their Anejo is good too. Same price point as Cimaron. Which I also enjoy. When I can be more spendy ($70), I'll certainly get El Tesoro Rep. Cheers.
Wow ,great choices . I drink cocktails, so for me it's either Lalo or Mijenta blanco. I like El Tequileño reposado for Tommy's Margarita. I've tried G4, but I think it's better to sip.
"Tocayo," my list: 1. El Tesoro 2. Tequila Ocho 3. G4 4. Siete Leguas 5. Fortaleza It's basically what I have in my bar now. 😃 Of course, all of then in Blanco, reposado and añejo!😂
Hey Lui, thanks for the great content! I just discovered your channel and i love the quality and honesty of your videos. No. 10 Cazcanes also happens to be my favorite, so im glad i found someone who has similar tastes for bottle advice. I did want to ask, have you tried any of Arette's artesenal lineup and your thoughts on them? I saw you had their wells variety but not the higher end. I am also a big fan of that lineup.
Awesome video! I'm amazed by the options from the viewers on the daily drinking. I don't think my wife would allow me to spend $45 to $150 dollars a bottle to sip nightly for the options I'm seeing from Tequila Ocho to Clase Azul. I would be hitting TW&M every week or every other week lol In my situation, I would rather use the Daily Drinker option as a weekend option to sip. I did try Lalo for the first time a few days ago when I purchased a 375ml bottle to taste. OMG, I was impressed by how smooth it was to sip and you can taste some of the cooked agave, but not too overpowering like my Olmeca Altos Blano. I also purchased a small 50ml of Don Julio Blanco when I purchased Lalo, because you mentioned the history of Lalo. Don Julio was very similar to Lalo, expect it was a little sweeter on the initial sip part, so it felt like there was some dosage added to it. Question: I enjoyed Lalo and was surprised that I can actually sip and enjoy sipping a blanco. What options do you see where lower priced blancos would have the same or close to the same flavor profile as Lalo? For example, you mentioned on the Cocktail pick, Arette blanco was a better option to sip and Cimarron has a stronger flavor and would taste good in a Margarita. Would you said Arette would be something I can use more often without breaking the bank? Also, I enjoyed Olmeca Altos Plata for my Margaritas because I can taste the agave in my Margarita. Heck, even more so on Olmeca Altos Repo, but my wife feels the Olmeca is too overpowering when she drinks it and says it's too strong. Funny thing, without telling her, I purchased a small 375ml bottle of El Jimador Blanco and made a Margarita and her eyes light up and she liked it. lol I'm thinking because El Jimador does not have the same strong cooked agave as Olmeca. I would guess that she would probably think Cimarron would be too strong compared to Arette if I made a Margarita? Last question, on the Guest, I tried the G4 and it was very smooth like Lalo, and I liked it, but I couldn't get past the grassy taste. Very small hint of it that turned me off. I'm not an expert, so I guess that is called mineraly? In my market, El Tesoro Repo is about 15 dollars more expensive than G4. What other good repo's would you compare for under $50?
Thanks Lui - I concur with all your picks. I have not tasted a Winter Blend Fortaleza. While I agree with the Repos, how come you do not have any Anjejo (or extra) in your list. Is it a personal taste issue?
Thanks Lui for another nice video! Do you know if there's another Tequila Ocho out there on the market? I see bottles with that name over here in Europe, but the label is much different from the bottles I see on your videos so it makes me unsure...
Yep G4 blanco & repo. Cardenas Blanco & repo. Yeyo blanco & repo. See a pattern here lol. Tequileno repo gran reserva.. I'll have to try that El Tesoro repo.🥃 I was going to say these newer blancos are almost too smooth for cocktails I'll have to try Cimmaron as well. I just don't want to pay up for Cazcanes.
Agree with all your picks except the Tequila Ocho. Don't have a Blanco but have the Repo and Anejo. To me, I get too much Red Hots cinnamon flavor from Ocho. Don't enjoy it as much as the other brands you showed. The G4 and Arette Artesanal Suave Repo are two of my favorites right now.
Go To All Around Not Expensive Centenario! Then Siete Leguas. Then El Tequileño (Reposado Gran Reserva). Price wise, Centenaio you can't go wrong. You can usually find these. If I could ind Fortaleza I'm sure I would love it!
I’ve had most of the tequilas you featured, albeit not the still strength expressions, and unfortunately, not the special Fortaleza 😢. Without recalling every category you covered, I guess my go-to would be El Tesoro blanco, a tequila I’ve enjoyed for many, many years. I haven’t had Fortaleza for way too long now; I fondly look back on a time when I could buy a bottle any time I wanted. Now, Fortaleza is larger replaced by Cascahuín, and for Friday night and special occasions, I grab either their Tahona or 48 Plata, both great. I like Cazcanes, but if the choice is that for $125 and Cascahuín 48 at $95…Cascahuín
what's your opinion on La Caza? I see it in your bar there in the background. It's made at one of my favorite distilleries and headquartered in my hometown so I had to try it and I was really impressed!
@mattwingate6454 lastest news is that Trump wants to add a 25 percent Tariff to all goods coming from Mexico and Canada.... That means if you're in the US this cost will be passed along to the consumer...
Enjoy the videos! Thx. I will disagree with Cazcanes , ethanol is the high note with this tequila. No bueno. Fortaleza in my opinion is the top choice for all occasions for me. 👍🏻
I can never recommend someone spend $700 on any bottle of booze. For one, idk what's considered expensive to that person. Do I think the Winter Blend 2023 is fucking incredible? Absolutely. One of the best tequilas I've ever tasted. Worth $700? Idk. That really depends on what you're willing to spend. "Worth it" is impossible to justify. But I'll never outright tell anyone to spend that money. I think it's crazy but it's a super rare bottle.
my apologies for putting you on the spot. I was speaking rhetorically, and sharing an update. i was genuinely surprised to see the bottle. It’s on my wish list! thank you
I live in Las Vegas I’ve tried forteleza which was really good , the bottle I tried was straight from Mexico that my friend got over their , I don’t expect to find it in any stores here in the entertainment capital of the world 😔
He talks about them from time to time. However, he has said he prefers more agave forward expressions such as blancos and especially Still Strengths/High Proofs. XA's have too much barrel influence and you loose a lot of the agave taste.
Hey Lui, you're not gonna believe this. So I live in Finland and our tequila selection is crap. Today I just happened to browse an online shop in Greece. I've used them before. What did I see? FORTALEZA! They had one blanco and two repo. Now they only have one repo 🎉😊 Was $104 each too much? Well, if it was, it's too late now... They actually had one of those Winter things as well, but it was $50 more. I found my limit 😁 When I get the Fortalezas it will once and for all be the ultimate test. Will I still try other tequilas or not? So no pressure on you for being the Fortaleza champion 😅

I must drink a lot of tequila because I could tell which kind all 5 of those were even when they were blurred out.
They only looked blurred to you since you drink that much tequila🤣
A fellow man of culture I see!
I could tell what they were too.
I don’t have a tequila problem.. do I ?
I instantly knew 3 lol
Someone who's sipping on mighty fine tequila I would say 😎
Started my journey with Tres Agaves, Cimarron, Arette and La Gritona. Such a wonderful experience.
I bought the El Tesoro Repo a few months ago from another video of yours. Growing up, tequila was the “party” drink and videos have opened me up to a different world. I just bought the El Tesoro Blanco tonight and will give a try this week.
Thanks for sharing! 😊 Happy you're enjoying it!
Thanks for putting me onto Tequila Ocho and Fortaleza a few years back 👍🏾🇿🇦
I went to the Fortaleza distillary, and man that stuff is good
Tequila ocho is crisp, fresh and with amazing flavors, one if not the best for me.
Hey lui... My list would be:
1. Cimarron Reposado
2. El Tesoro
3. Arette
4.G4
5. Don't have friends that know tequila that well😂
Hahahaha love this list
How's the Cimarron Resposado? I've tried a similarly priced repo, Arette Reposado and it was fantastic. Would you say it's a good sipper or mainly great as a mixer?

My top 5 is:
1. Cascanes reposado

3. Mijenta reposado
4. Chamucos anejo
5. Cabal reposado

All Blancos for the most agave forward taste.
I've been so happy to find Fortaleza in Italy since I moved here, I had not once been able to find it in US. Here I find anytime I want, I'm so lucky.
Cannot find it in Texas. Yes you are lucky.

G4 Madeira is the best blanco on the market.

Can't ever find winter blend here in NYC!!!
What about best shot bottle
I live in Las Vegas I’ve tried forteleza which was really good , the bottle I tried was straight from Mexico that my friend got over their , I don’t expect to find it in any stores here in the entertainment capital of the world 😔
Fortaleza bottles are popping up even on the supermarkets, wonder if they are being massed produced now ?
They are not. I was down there visiting them in August. They are as tiny as ever.
Fortaleza winter blends go for $600+
Is there any reason you rarely, if ever, talk about any Extra Anejo tequilas?
He talks about them from time to time. However, he has said he prefers more agave forward expressions such as blancos and especially Still Strengths/High Proofs. XA's have too much barrel influence and you loose a lot of the agave taste.
Of course for the same money as the El Tosoro reposado you could get the G4 Blanco High Proof 108 instead of just their regular blanco.

Do you know if they ship to the US?
@KAOS_WRLD I don't know, sorry.
