This movie touched my heart deeply. Most of us seniors worked hard when young, once we get old no one wants us around. This poor man did what he could to be independent of criticism and lack of compassion from those who don't even appreciate the breath of life our Creator gives us 😢💔🙏!
Wow what a beautiful comment so true so honest and even touch me when you mentioned it🤗and again thank you so so much 👍🏼💕. Hope you have yourself a wonderful evening. 🌌🌙🌛💐 🙋🏼🇨🇦
What Keeps Most Elders living is Having A Purpose to Exist in a Functional way of Life. AM in my 70s and writing Music keeps me going. Great Flick thanks to All.
I agree. I am 65. When young I was visiting an Aunt who had 7 children and ??? Grandchildren. She mentioned she was lonely and I remember thinking “How’s that possible will a large family?” Now I get it. I raised them to be independent. Now 5 of my 7 are married with families of the their own. The other two although single are also busy with their own lives and yes some days especially when my health isn’t so good I too have experienced loneliness!
We never know when the wind is going to blow in our favor. We just keep believing that it will. This film was perfect in every way, shape and form. I moved thousands of miles away from my family in my mid 60's because I did not want to end up in a home. Instead I created a new life thousands of miles away. I am so happy. When you have love, positive energy and a strong constitution, you really never feel loneliness even when you are alone. Thank you ever so much for posting this. I am sharing and subscribing too.
I'm so glad Abner got to sail his Little Bastard to feel the wind on his face & hear the waves lapping against the vessel he created, but he did more than just realize his dream, he gave a young mind the ability to build a future full of capabilities & adventures. A truly lovely story.
I'm so very sorry children really don't understand how they hurt us not until they have children of their own & start seeing it first hand. I'm sure if you can hang in there she will see the light & come to show you how much you truly mean to her... Sending peace & understanding
I watched this movie on a plane during a trip years ago. Now I've forgot where I was then heading, but still remember this movie. It is a very warm story. The boy was acting very convincingly.
When you feel unwanted anywhere, you can move more than a thousand miles away from.everybody, just to find love and peace. In life, especially old age, love and peace of minds matters alot. This is a very nice film.
I too enjoyed the film. It was good to see Christopher LLoyd acting. He was great. The boat is a Nordic Folkboat. A great seaworthy vessel. I recognized downtown Tiburon, California as the captain rode his bike. Looks like his home was on Paradise Cove, which is on the east side of the Tiburon peninsula on San Francisco Bay.
I loved this film with the Senior man and the boy representing real people in our modern but imperfect society. The old man wants to be creative, and continue to have his choices and independence. The boy wants a true friend and a situation where he can be himself and be productive. Surviving in nature's "wild open" can be a great education. It would be such progress if there was more of this in American life. Thanks for sharing this!
Sorry to tell you. Ok at least in USA the "freedom land" you can also choose to live in the woods. Not in Europe but western society doesn't work and is time to admit it. For the future? Expecially it doesn't work. Invidualism is a trap. None is really free,.....I prefer society where the well being of others makes also your happiness.
While walking out of one of our fishing ponds we go to... my Son stopped in his tracks and looked at the stringer of blue gill and bass and said ..." Ya know Dad... you could survive a few days on that fish! ( He was about 7) I stopped turned around knelt down in front of him and said... Don't you forget that...as long as you live...
I love this story It is totally great with friendship and family ties. Great acting by adults as well as kids, parents and adult children too. I love the boat too and the cinematography is fabulous, our ocean always provides the most fabulous landscapes. Terrific work about being complete and retiring, love your work...
Be young for some is a problem getting or being older presents a problem accept for us that are that age as we know where we have been and where we are going while others want to keep us confined to their world. This is what we feel and want to stay away from as they are afraid to accept our world,,,,,,,, awesome movie
Excellent life story. It has so many real messages...the elderly, family, friends, bullies, alienation, choices, society, hypocrisy, compassion, love, freedom, family and social constraints, alienation, and so much more. We can apply these experiences to our own life and learn from it. Keeping in mind that a "family movie" is for the entire family to enjoy, it should not include vulgar language. Thank you for this movie. Beautifully done except for the few vulgar words.
Volgar language? I don't even remarque this. Look "gross words" help to put out anger. At home with the children yes sometimes also I used like "dick head and so on, in italian they are different". I teach my children that at home it is ok and explain also why. Outside? No it is different. Immagine, mines didn't use them out side, but children of others people yes of course because they search the forbitten at home.
I got to blue water sail on a 6 ton 35 ft. Sloop for 3 years. A fixer upper. The flying fish were my favorite. The swells get up ,,6ft. and groups of fish come flying out. They can fly a couple hundred feet.
As kids we would sometimes throw rocks down on the roof of the house of an old hermit who lived alone in the woods; now an old man myself, I see things a bit differently. A very fine movie - thanks
Best thing I have seen since the end of reality. Do some living before you get around to dying. All we have is our time on earth, Be sure to use your well.
Wonderful story 💕💕💕 As an old man, I know the challenges of seeking a place to find peace and a friend to share that goal. Dream come true for both 🙏👍💕

Beautiful story and movie! Both were rejected by bad, mean people! But God give them each other as compagny!!!!!!! I hope his daughter will come to her sentences, being old (senior) doesn t mean hè is already given up!!!!!!!!!

That's so sad your family would put you in a 'home' against your wishes! Have I understood you right? I'm so glad you kept your independence.
