John, late to this vid, it just arrived in my feed. I was taken aback by the comments. We have owned a Rockwood HW 296 2009 year model, bought it used have camped all over. We are from Central Texas, and some what, shall we say, Geriatric Juviniles. Our unit has had small issues through the years, because we maintain our unit. We follow loading guidelines, distribution precepts, have never had a problem. We have upgraded A/C to new soft start modern design. We boondock, thus using solar power a lot. From spot to dock in our location, set up time is about 30 minutes. Not rushing around, easiest set up unit. I agree with you comments and your logic. Keep up the good work. Our world needs good Men such as yourself. Bless you and yours.

We started in tents then we moved way up to a beautiful, ...dry,... fewer mosquitos..., more comfortable... pop-up camper.
But, nothing as luxurious as this Rockwood pop-up !
Very nice camper, also the right dealer who cares makes all the difference....
But now you sold us our Mini Lite and we are still thrilled with it. Dave, thank you for everything !
    Paul,
    any Puppy yet?

Found a really nice kept Coleman Evolution E4 with the front deck. Tent camped for almost 40 years. Ready for the next chapter in my camping life. Bathrooms need to be closer when you age. Also need a golf cart to get around when your knees are shot.

I’d go with a Fleetwood Highlander Niagara or Avalon - both are very comfortable and comparable to this but a fraction of the cost and better made.

I believe Fleetwood stopped their pop-up production in 2009. But there may be some nice used ones out there.

Show but i prefer the hw277 which has an external kitchen ismore useful than a sofá.

The cable system on a Rockwood is garbage. Face reality people, the popup is a cheaply made tent type camper and no longer designed to last. Unlike the earlier models that were actually designed to last like the Coleman brand. Rockwood was all about the money, not the quality.

Your absolutely right about Colman pop-ups. My buddy and his family have been csmping in his same colman pu for the last 20 plus years with barely any problems. Same canvas , same tires , same wheel bearings etc. Granted he only uses it only a couple times a year but it keeps going snd going. I had a 2010 Jayco pu brand new and had nothing but trouble with it . Every year we had major issues with it including the floor rotting away the frame rusting in half the canvas leaked and the stitching tearing apart frozen wheel bearings, water leaks in the plumbing , the trim pieces falling off, etc . And we only used ours a couple times a year also. We ended up calling it our junko pop up. Anyway comparing the two the colman was a superior product.

I’m sure as a representative of a dealer who sells Rockwoods, my opinion will be taken with a grain of salt, but in all honesty I’ve observed that the Rockwood tents have held up extremely well over the last 20 years. Any RV can have issues over time. And without regular maintenance this is true for all RVs on the market.
The Rockwood has been the #1 selling pop up camper for many years. And there’s a reason for that beyond just their marketing budget. We have been a Rockwood tent dealer since 1978. We never once considered dropping the line. Hundreds of happy campers have began their journey in the RV lifestyle by purchasing a Rockwood from our dealership. This has been for decades.
The cable system comes with a lifetime warranty. If it was garbage, would they do that? In our experience, the Coleman pop ups of old had their share of issues. If you had to replace one section of canvas, you had to replace the entire canvas. 15 years ago that cost about $800. The roofs had a bad habit of cracking and leaking. And the lift system was a bear to fix or replace when problems arose.
Coleman pop ups ceased production in 2011. Rockwood pop ups are still going strong. I’m glad that thousands of people have awesome memories with Coleman pop ups. They were the main show in town for many years. But I don’t think it’s a fair or accurate representation to say that Coleman’s were wonderful and Rockwoods are cheap garbage.
Again, that’s just my point of view as someone who used to work on them and now sells them.
