I've been bugging my boyfriend to sing me a song on guitar cause we've been dating for 10 months, and he's been playing guitar and singing for years and years and I've never properly heard him! Last night he unexpectedly serenaded me with this song as we were getting ready to sleep. He sat me down on his bed and sang this song to me, and changed some of the lyrics to "I wanna hold you." No one's ever done that for me and I started to tear up! He wanted me to sing with him at the end but I couldn't cause I was too emotional! I kinda think he's a keeper and this song is -unsurprisingly- a current favourite of mine. Thanks Chris

Simple truths put to a vaguely lonesome and haunting tune. The video beautifully encapsulates a lost Americana and a complex painful time pregnant with hopes of a brighter future. Perfect.
Going thru a divorce at the time and seeing Chris Staples open for Manchester on the Hope tour with an empty seat beside me was a welcomed jolt that there are still artists that continue to write great music with meaningful lyrics that are eerily relatable. To this day, one of the most impactful shows in my life.
Recently discovered this song and I am obsessed. The guitar, the words, the subtle tambourine, everything!! So simple yet so beautiful. Some songs just really touch your heart differently.
