You & Me [Pacific Rim]

so. my ever growing penchant to post videos that are increasingly niche and of content from a billion years ago (THIS MOVIE CAME OUT IN 2013 AAAH) continues to be fostered.
a couple of things! my love for pacific rim is not new! i watched this movie when it came out and while i was far too young to participate in most of the fandom activity going on (and i was, regrettably, into other pieces of media that shall not be named) I LOVED IT SO MUCH! when trespasser broke the golden gate and dropped a car on me in full IMAX gear (thanks mama for the tickets) this movie carved out a little space in my heart that has never left. its a very intrinsic part of me. the robots. fight. giant monsters. with the power of love. im going to cry.
only now do i have the art skills to really put my love of it justice so here we are
that and also gosh dang ladyknightthebrave (who consistently puts out excellent content thats so tailored to my tastes like wow... doctor who, sense8, hill house, and even one on 1917??? what??? i dont even like. think about that movie a ton but after i watched it i was solidly thinking about it for a week) video about pacific rim reminded me that... dammit... i love this movie and its characters with their meagre bits of backstory so MUCH.
i cant promise that ill make more of these but i really desperately want to make a video about mako mori because she deserves it. her relationship with stacker pentecost is kind of everything to me so. maybe
this is the first video of mine that doesnt have a spoiler warning because like... these are two b plot characters who have 5 SCENES TOGETHER IN TOTAL in this whole movie and yet we all fell in love with them. of course we did. i added a couple of winks and nods to some old fic from once again, a billion years ago, if you noticed them kudos to you and also i re read them again and my brainrot is so bad... its back... god...
anyways i hope yall like this??? i had a lot of fun making it in the week long fever dream that popped this bad boy (slaps video) out thats just.. an abstract collection of images about newt and hermann because i like them feel free to interpret this how you wish
theyre the epitome of meet ugly, they hate each other but they also love each other and they have to work together to save the world and like!!! as a big science oriented kid (oops. im in art school now.) i was so delighted that part of what saved the world was the love of humanity expressed through innovation and technology and science and DISCOVERY!!! im so happy that this movie values it just as much as the love we share for family and being in tune with yourself and others and TRUST and ahgghgg someone message me about pacific rim no one will talk to me about this (PROBABLY BECAUSE IVE BEEN TALKING ABOUT IT FOR 7 YEARS...)

do me a favor and watch guillermo del toros masterpiece about robots punching monsters, its the pure distilled joy of just that but also so much more.

this is so good! I don't recognize any specific fanfics, after a time fics have just merged into a large head canon in my memory. Them being pen pals and then hating each other and ending up saving the world together is so precious. Still think about them, all these years later.
