There were five manufacturers at this event in the top class (Mitsubishi, Subaru, Ford, Toyota and Seat), and a number of privateers in top level cars too. We just don't see that any more. I hope every round of the 1998 season is uploaded on this channel.
The 2001/02 seasons seemed to me to be superior in terms of the number of official teams: Peugeot, Ford, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Škoda, Hyundai and Citröen and also because of the number of top drivers in the teams: Grönholm, Burns, Auriol, Panizzi, Rovampera, Sainz, McRae, Delecour, Burns, Solberg, Martin, Mäkinen, Loix, Kankkunen, Schwarz, Blonkvitz, Bugalski and a certain Sébastien Loeb...

There is so much aero and suspension in todays WRCs that they are more like track cars going trough the stages compared to these. Going flat out sideways with cars you could actually (sort of) buy. This was awesome (And so is todays WRC, they are great too, just different)

It was the beginning of the end. WRC regulations killed rallyes. Group A years were the best.

No, seat sport own-made development.
Only transmission was customer spec by prodrive in both Seat and Skoda.
