I live just south of there and it's a great place to visit and shop for meats & cheese!. And you will notice that the Amish homesteads are real clean and kept nice!. I buy a lot of lumber off the Amish!.
Belin is in beautiful country. Loads of Amish restaurants that serve family style meal that republicans delicious. There are lots fo stores for quilts and material and antiques. A very pleasant place to visit.
Gorgeous ….My son lives in Cincinnati, quite a big difference…..I would love to visit there, quite possibly live there….and ditto what John Grytbakk said, TRUE AMERICANS, hard working, God fearing, honest and honorable Patriots…..
I live less than 40 minutes from Berlin, in Wooster, Ohio. On many days, I will just drive all over the country roads around Berlin. This is the best part of Ohio. Come to Wooster some time. Its a really peaceful small college town with great restaurants, and taverns.
Millersburg home of my favorite baby Swiss cheese. Guggisburg is my favorite. Originally from Salem Ohio. Don’t get a chance to go back anymore. Thanks for sharing a bit of childhood nostalgia for me..
My wife was born in the old farm house in Apple Creek Ohio. She attended grade school with about 50 % Amish students. We live just west of Holms County now but visit often.
Hello. My husband an I have been watching your videos. We really enjoy them. I have a suggestion for Ohio. Carroll County. Its home of the fighting McCooks and the Civil War The Great Trail Indian history. Bluebird Farm Park in Carrollton has a huge Toy Museum. worth seeing. Lots of history of the farm. There's just a lot to see. Beautiful country side
To really see and enjoy Holmes County, park the RV and take to the back roads in a SUV or similar vehicle to see how the Amish really live. Benn doing it for several years and had a lot of great adventures!
Hey Russ thanks again for a great video ( wife found you on UA-cam about 2 months ago and I love your traveling content) it think it’s so cool you went to Amish country! Such a nice area
My Dad grew up in Tuscarawas Co. (Dover). How did I miss the cuckoo clock in Sugarcreek? I've visited as a kid & adult and never knew. Thanks for sharing these towns of my roots.
Was in Berlin almost two years ago. Beautiful place! Gained 10 pounds. The bus tour we were on was a bus from Millersburg. The cheese factory was super, and dinner at Der Dutchmans was enormous!
🙋♀️Hello Russ! Like a patchwork quilt looking down. I like this Campground, well maintained. I knew you would rest good at that other place. Before you go back, you need to kick those shoes off & let the grass tickle your toes! hehe Get a feel for it now to remember the feeling when you get back to the dessert. I know you are enjoying seeing the change in scenery by the beautiful videos you've made. Thankfully there's a breeze, the Beast is shaded, you should feel cooler inside hopefully. Rest good Russ! 👍😊
Berlin is Ohio's Amish Country. "The village of Berlin - the oldest existing village in Holmes County - was first planned on July 2, 1816, by John Swigert, a native of Berlin, Germany." "Today, Berlin is in the center of Ohio's largest Amish community. Ohio has about 56,000 Amish residents, an increase of 60 percent since 1992." (Wikipedia)
I love visiting Berlin, Ohio. I have been to Heini's cheese chalet and Kaufman's bakery both ore fantastic. But my favorite stores are the fabric/quilting stores. Because I am a quilter. That rv park looks great, I will have to remember it next time i go there.
I don't know why this was suggested to me but when I saw where it was at I had to watch. My son lives in Winesburg. When you went by the log home place across from the little store you were within 300 yards of his house. Been through that area (Berlin, Millersburg) quite a few times. We live in Danville...well in the country around Danville. Be safe. Peace.
So glad I found you! I love Holmes County and you did such a great job covering Berlin! Oh I hope you do Loudonville and Mohican Park too! Love them :)
Be there many times,,,I believe we stayed at Whispering Hills Camp Ground 👍👍 Pickled eggs,,,sweet pepper jams,,,Small personal Amish pies,,,good stuff,,,,the dinners up there are over the top,,,, Big Business up there
Enjoy your videos. Could you go inside some of these businesses, or restaurants. It gets old the dash cam or the drone is all we get to see. Missing so much.
Really nicd campground Scenic Hills. Good find👍 This Ohio trip is so pretty I want to visit. Love to see a view of area in winter. Bet its still a postcard!
15:59 - that school is about - roughly- as big asa the high school i gradeuated from. it was a "regional" one (most are where i grew up) - some of the "regional" ones had 500-600 kids. Mine was seven small towns with a graduating class of 183.
Is Sol’s ice cream still open on Rt. 39 in Berlin? They had the best ice cream and homemade fruit toppings! We used to live near by before moving to Texas. Thanks for the tour of home.
I live not far from there. A County or two over. If you are a motorcycle rider, it's one of the most gorgeous places to ride. I've moved over 20 times and this area has been one of my favorite places to live.
You are in the State where I started, next to Wright -Patterson AFB. Surprized it is so green, and even more amazed, it has ice & snow starting in October! Highly educational. I've always liked Bologna & Cheese... now I know why! 🧀 Be safe! 🌿🌷🍀🌺🍃🌸🌱
Love Amish Country Campsites Campground. We have stayed there many times over the past 20 years, owners are great people. Would not camp anywhere else.
I am from Southeastern Michigan and we get about 40,-48 inches of snow and below freezing temps. It doesn't really warmup until after Memorial Day. A lot of times, certain parts of Ohio will get just as much snow and cold.
Sherwood Anderson introduced me to Winesberg, Ohio, in his short stories. He wrote about a fictional town in the early 1920s which bears almost no resemblance to today. But real people, real life, real Americana that never changes. Just a little too flat for me.
Can't decide what I like best, drone flights in the east or west I guess they are all spectacular. Thanks. You should stop and try the local cuisine, if you gain a little weight stop and ask a local Amish farmer and help put up hay.
You backed the van in just like a pro! Nice ride along. Thats a pretty town, and area. IDK if I could have skipped the cheese factory or bakery, lol. Safe travels. 😊👍
Everybody out there....if you have never been to Berlin, by all means go. It is a wonderful area and the shops are great. Several places that are more than worth your time are Heini's Cheese shop, north of Berlin in Bunker Hill about two miles on Hwy 77 and then continuing for about three miles, and just past Mt Hope is Homestead Furniture. These places are greats. For dining, head east on Hwy 39 from Berlin and when you get to Walnut Creek you have to go to Der Dutchman. It is wonderful. There are so many great places to stop, look and purchase, such as "Tis the Season" (Christmas store) but I would be remiss if I did not mention Lehman's store up in Kidron. It is almost like stepping back in time in that much of the inventory in the store caters to the Amish. It is about 14 miles north of Berlin and it is so very much worth the time and effort. This place is so memorable. I have been to this area at least ten times and my wife and I bought our bedroom furniture at Homestead Furniture and it is gorgeous. We will continue to head to Berlin for many years to come.
Should have stopped at Heini's. Best cheese. I LOVE going to Heini's!! I live in Wooster. It didn't look like you went pass the Antique Mall. What does your RV look like?
Downtown Berlin has been seriously diminished by technology and fast food restaurants. It was so much quieter and peaceful up until about 7-10yrs ago. It was always so interesting to witness the Amish residents without modern technology and realize how easy we have it. With that being said, outside of city limits you can't go wrong. I make a 3hr trip atleast once a year to bring home FOOD! Take a drive off the highway just down the back roads and will witness a different way of life and beautiful scenery.
Wow ! It's really so so nice and cool place I love it sir❤❤❤👍👍👍
I live just south of there and it's a great place to visit and shop for meats & cheese!. And you will notice that the Amish homesteads are real clean and kept nice!. I buy a lot of lumber off the Amish!.

Beautiful area of America. Wonderful place to live I'm sure. True Americans, hard-working, honest and honorable and God-fearing patriots.
Well said!
The Amish are Germans and not American patriots

Dollar generals are popping up like flowers especially in the rural areas……we have them all over West Virginia.
Great drive and look around. Showing great restraint on the shopping.

The correct pronunciation of the small Ohio city is not Berlynn. It is emphasis on first syllable. BERlin
LoL, I caught that too!

You need to stop at Guggisberg Cheese in Millersburg. Plenty of parking. We parked our 34 ft. Best swiss. They make for Publix here in Florida.
