- Today we get to do a review on another nice sounding set of powered speakers, the MEVOSTO DS19.
Let me begin by saying that there may be more than one release on these speakers, so if you’re looking to try a pair out, search around before buying, for the best price.
So let me tell you a little about these speakers; they come with a 1 inch (25.4mm) silk dome tweeter and a 5 inch bass woofer. Each speaker measures 6.1 x 5.9 x 9.6 inches.
They have removable grills and are rear ported.
It comes with BT 5.4 version; I think that’s the latest version at the time of this review.
Another feature these speakers come with is a voice prompts telling you on and off, and the mode selection, with a color light for each mode, you can also turn the light off if you like, and I really appreciate that.
Most of these features can be controlled with the remote, along with the play/pause/fast forward/rewind; there is also a knob for volume, bass and treble tone control, and mode selection on the side of the powered speaker.
These speakers come with an 18 volt 2 amp power adaptor, and give you 36 watts.
So what that tells you is, these are bookshelf or desktop speakers
It feels like a wooden box with a wood grain finish, and is very nice looking with or without the grills.
If there is one thing I don’t like about these speakers, is that the speakers wire is connected to the box on the passive side and has a coaxial style plug for the powered side. I would have preferred spring clips or binding post, but this is working okay.
But let’s talk about the sound; the highs are bright but not fatiguing, the vocals sound smooth and the bass is there, and just maybe a little muddy but not unpleasant, just about what you might expect at this price point. They have a nice sound stage, and are very enjoyable to listen to. These speakers are very good at this price in my opinion. Be sure to find the best price.

I like them, I commented on your other video about them. I wonder if you could split the output for the speaker with an rca splitter and add a 3rd speaker, Kinda curious if it would duplicate the signal or just split the wattage?
Greetings @ShinyKnife, are you talking about something like a center channel speaker? I think this output is only one channel, and the speaker wire is connected to the other speaker.
@ Thats exactly what I was talking about with a center speaker. But using a male Y splitter with 2 female out puts from the powered side. one to left speaker and then one to a center channel speaker. I don’t know if those are true coaxial wires or rca type wires or just speaker wires with plugs. I think an rca and coaxial will duplicate the signal if it’s a pulse signal. I guess I’d have to take it apart and look at the built in amp board to see. Probably could be done with a home made crossover and a dac. But that’s a lot of work and money for some $70 speakers. Just a thought. I can’t leave anything alone. I always want to mod it.. lol they look good and sound good for the price those are definitely MDF with a veneer finish good looking speaker and value for the money.

I just wish I was better at tinkering, I had some success in the past, but not enough for me to go down that road, if you’re not going to try it I know I’m not going to even think about it lol.
@@Viewmydesktop haha yeah probably best to leave stock. They sound just fine for what they are. ~SK
If you split it to a third speaker, then you will have 2X left channel, the impedance the amp will deal with is half, which it may not like. And you may have a little bit of channel imbalance - the speakers on the "left" side will receive less power, but because there are two speakers, overall loudness would be the same but spread out unevenly
