Thank you, thank you. I am an equal opportunity shooter - anything moves and lives...... I am in!!! And as long as I get at least one sharp shot, I am happy! 🙏💖🤗
Thank you Peter. Shoot what ever is out at!!! I dont think these are deadly. 😂 Going out to the fields here by our house shortly to see if the BIG ones are back. 🙏💖🤗
105f, ouch. It is supposed to be 94f here early next week, luckily I will be in Toronto where it will be much cooler, I can’t normally say that in the summer. Beautiful spider images. I really like the way the light was on their legs. Loud Killdeers. I love those little birds. We are just starting to get more Dragon and Damsel flies. I am seeing a few more each time I go out. From what you describe, we set our cameras up the same way.
Yeah - finally today is a little cooler but it is supposed to warm up again. it is going to be like this in Arizona when I go at the end of the month. I will shoot hummingbirds in the morning, and spend the day in room or at the pool! 🙏💖🤗
Chris!!!!!! I bought one for James since it is on sale and he decided to buy it himself through his company so he has the warranty and write off. So...... I may keep it. What I noticed today shooting dragonflies in flight.... it is just like the R3 in a smaller body. I was impressed with the R8 (I prefer the digital stabilization over the IBIS for video), but the R6ii is a beast of a camera. I need to shoot it more. Thank you Chris 🙏💖🤗
Great video! Thank you. The RF 100-500 is an amazingly versatile lens on my R5. It’s my dragonfly, Hummingbird and Fighter Jet (Luke AFB) lens of choice 😉
I dont think many appreciate what an amazing lens it is. Even with the 1.4 extender on there, it is still a better option over the 200-800 in my opinion. The only other lens combo I think is better the the 600 F4 with 1.4 extender..... but is way heavier and way more money. 🙏💖🤗
Hello John, the photo’s are amazing with rental R6 Mark II. Every time a new firmware update is improved the camera. I love photographed with my R6. Greetings Wim
Thank you, thank you!!! I ordered one for James and he decided to order directly from B&H himself so he has the warranty and write off. It was such a great price....... I may have to keep that one too. LOL. I really like the R6ii. It is so much like my R3! 🙏💖🤗
I'm very impressed with the 100-500's closeup capabilities, even with the extender. A few questions: how much, if any, did you crop your final images? Also, in the future could you include species IDs for your birds? I think I knew most of them, but I'm unsure of a couple. (Is that a pine siskin at 7:22? Last, does the extender help with the closeups or do you have about the same minimum focus distance? Thanks.
As of late in all my videos, I show the image sized as it hit the sensor - no cropping. There is no difference in sharpness with the 1.4,, no difference is focus speed or in MFD. I like this set up more than the 200-800 even though there is not much zoom. The only other lens and combo I think rivals the 100-500 in any way is the 600 F4 with the 1.4 extender on that too. I like to be at 700mm - 800mm for me is the sweet spot. The short MFD on the 100-500 makes up for that. And as far as ID - i use google to identify the critters and have been corrected many times LOL. 🙏💖🤗
You made some amazing images and nice video! There is a typo in your title I believe it 🙂. This seems like a great combo. I love the close up capabilities of that lens but I still can't pull the trigger on it. Maybe one day. Thanks for another great video. Cheers.
Thank you, thank you!! Other than my 600 F4, the 100-500 is by far my other favorite lens. It is an L lens and the images are just so sharp. Thank you - I think I corrected that typo!!! 🙏💖🤗
Hey Jonny, Loving your channel. Your photos are awesome! love the insect footage, it's so interesting seeing them up close. That 100-500 seems incredibly sharp! Do you think this lens with extender on R6ii is a better combo than the R7 and no extender?
Wow - that is a tough call. I was in Patagonia Arizona shooting humming birds using the R7 with the 100-500 and my R3 with the the 100-500 and 1.4 extender. The R3 sensor is the same as the R6II (awesome camera at an awesome price) - advantages and disadvantages. The R6II has a little less rolling shutter than the R7 does and a deeper buffer. I used to not care for smaller 24 megapixels sensors until using the R3, R6II and the R8 (rentals). What I most prefer about the R7 is the larger 33 megapixel sensor. I think I will be shooting the R7 and 100-500 for a while and leave the R3 at home. Both set ups are sharp, so.... tough call. I cant really say one is better than the other. I forget how much I really love the R7 until I pull it out. 🙏🤗💖
@@JonnyPink65 Thanks for the advice! I have been using the canon 7D mark 1 with an EF 100-400 mark 2 so i'll probably find the R7 to be a huge upgrade!
I can give you a definite maybe. I have no long lenses other than my old 300 F2.8. I have been fun reviewing and using my own new bodies and new lenses. The old stuff is great but the newer stuff just outperforms it in every way. 🙏💖🤗
Thank you!!! I look forward to seeing what you captured with it. I was at Malibu Lagoon and Gillette today with it. I really like it - like a smaller version of the R3! 🙏💖🤗
Nice work, JP! I enjoyed it. You made that R6 Mark II sing.
Thank you Phil!!!! I really really really like this body. It is so much like the R3 but smaller. WOW what a treat to shoot. 🙏💖🤗
Jonny great video, love the bee in flight. Everything else super. That last damsel was beautiful. Thanks for another great one.

Very interesting body. I am talking about the R6 mark 2...
But still waiting before getting my first full frame.
