A dear friend of mine passed away Thursday. He lived in Hamilton and loved music, and I would share your videos with him. Watching this video today helped me, so thank you so very much. Here is to a healthy, happy, and joyful New Year
My friend passed away this year the day before my birthday…. I’ve learned that all we can do is to further their dreams that didn’t come to fruition. We do this for them, because the only way out from the grief is to push through. I wish you a wonderful new year, hope the best for you and cheers!!!!
I do not play, don't own a guitar, but your videos are quietly soothing and educational at a time when the rest of the world seems to be shouting. Thank you for teaching and entertaining us when it would be so much easier for you to do your work without us looking over your shoulder.
Before I watch your last video of 2022, let me thank you for your channel and your knowledge and ability and willingness to share. It seems your videos always come around when I need them, yes you bring folks something really good. I love guitars, especially acoustics and I love seeing the variety in your videos. I also appreciate your low key approach and your in depth explanations. Thanks again and here’s wishing you and yours the best that 2023 can bring. Happy New Year!!! 🎉 Peace on Earth. ✌🏼
I think the New Year is one of the better, more honest holidays. Christmas Day isn't the birthday of Jesus, if he ever existed, and Easter is another massive leap of faith. Here in Australia we celebrate the Queen's birthday, not on her actual birthday though. The various states go their own way to establish a day, all of which are months away from her actual birthday.
@@deaddoll1361 , for me, perhaps the only reason to quietly "celebrate" New Years, maybe with a nice meal at home, is that Christmas is over and done with! I have really come to dread the Christmas season, which now seems to begin well before Thanksgiving. I hate the commercialism, the crowded stores and stressed out shoppers, the absent-minded drivers (it has been a record-setting year statistically for fatal car crashes and pedestrians being hit and killed) the forced cheer, the ever-more extravagant decking out of homes with garish lights, and the bad music. Have we advanced so little as a species that we need to go to such lengths just to dispel the winter blahs? Have millions of us got a case of SADD, seasonal affective depressive disorder brought on by shorter days and/or cooler weather? Commercialism is not the answer for that. I'm glad to see it go away for the next ten months or so! (Granted, your experience at this time of year, your summer down below the equator, might be different).
Long time watcher here. I don't comment often. Anyway ... I enjoy watching your videos. I don't own a guitar nor have I ever played one, but I am a fan of rock and guitars and guitar players AND guitar repairmen. Thanks for your good work.
Happy New Year from west coast BC Yeah, inflation is killing us out here as well. After watching so many of your videos I think you'd be worth the extra cost!
Thank you Ted for another great year of quality content (also highly addictive) you created on this channel. I enjoyed watching all the videos and looking forward to watch you at work in 2023. Happy New Year to you and all the twoofrd gang!
13:15 Here comes the new saddle slot. Being sure to remind ourselves that this is going to be a lefty guitar, it needs to slant in the right direction for it to work properly.
*Tonight I will clamp and heat a neck to straighten it, but I also grabbed one of my ratty brand-x Les Paul hollowbodies due for work, and the BODY warped from sitting near the heater duct!* 😭😭😭 Between the F-holes and the pickups. Soon I will bridge something inside of it, heat it and slowly return it to health. *I have a ton of repairs and major instrument work in general you've inspired me to get busy on.*
Hello my friend! I'm an HVAC service technician & after a long day of fixing HVAC hack work it restores my faith that not all repairmen are butchers. Keep up the good work!! IDK why, haha, but I get the feeling that you couldn't/wouldn't do hack work even if a customer wanted you too. 🤷♂️
Thanks for your wisdom Ted! Recently acquired a Taiwan made FG-150 red label, had some significant bow though, well over a mm of relief. Grabbed some wood blocks a 1x2 and a clamp, stuck a reptile tank heat pad against the frets and put it in a back bow for a couple days. Took the heat away and after another day resting unclamped it to find it took on a much much straighter form. Fixed up the plate the truss rod nut was bearing against and she’s holding a playable action, though revealed some less than perfectly levelled frets haha. Wouldn’t have had the confidence without seeing it done here a few times. Cheers and all the best for ‘23!
Happy New Year, Ted! Thanks for another year of fascinating, challenging and just plain fun repair videos. All the very best for 2023 - and better health for you and yours! Cheers from across the pond in Liverpool, UK!
I often wonder if the ending clips feature musical styles associated with the owner or just what Ted feels like playing to show off the guitar's unique tonal structure.
Happy New year. Really enjoy your videos. Was just in Tugaske Sk. Picking up some wood and mentioned to Dave Freeman ho much I enjoy your vids. The guitar sounds great!
What a unique sound that guitar has! I really enjoyed the piece you played at the end as well. I wish I could put it in an endless loop and meditate by it. Ommmm...........
Upgrade my D-28 with a broken headset for about 25 years finally got the nerve up to change the neck out you taught me how to do it local guitar shop offered me a job😅 thank you
Your playing at the end reminds me of John Renbourn. I had the pleasure of seeing him live twice, as well as Bert Jansch. John would do a bunch of music and then retune and say, "Now I'm decending into DADGAD, from which there is no return," or something like that. Anyway, nice to here you playing some upside down lefty DADGAD. Maybe you might consider recording and putting out something instrumental or otherwise if you have time, which I know is so difficult to find. Thank you, Ted. I meantioned this before but, one of the reasons I now have a job as a guitar repair person is because of you but I always really enjoy your diverse and skilled playing as well. I am in a band and I find repairing instruments and also being able to play them live so rewarding in every way, except the monetary sense 😂 For anyone who's interested, here's an example of Bert Jansch's remarkable craft: ua-cam.com/video/FHYE7etshpM/v-deo.html and speaking of John Renbourn: ua-cam.com/video/belc2ZrCfWc/v-deo.htmlsi=f4y-cGwd8AZPiL_A and I'd be remiss if I didn't include Davey Graham, the guitar hero of Bert and John and one of the first players to work in DADGAD, like this one: ua-cam.com/video/XWhrx1X5lHo/v-deo.htmlsi=KpILasCobz13v_Oh
As an optometrist we refer to the right eye as OD (ocular dexter) and the left ad OS (ocular sinister). Great to hear sinister used in the guitar world.😂Thanks for all the entertaining and informative content. Excellent work my friend.
Thank You Ted, as always you add heart strings to the guitars you repair that always brings a smile. Great Work, Great sound, great song. Happy new year!
Happy new year to one of the best canucks out there. Thanks for everything you do a d wishing you and your family a wonderful new year, filled with Kong Fu resets and action
You might not get it yet Ted. I’ve watched every video and it’s not as much the instrument (although learning about new brands and the backstory is very entertaining). It’s your skill, craftsmanship, knowledge, presentation and dogged determination to do your best work that I enjoy so much.

For anyone curious, Levin sounds more like Leveen. Almost nailed Göteborg (Gothenburg) though. Have a happy new one!
I’m always impressed you can play the lefties. As always, thanks for playing them for us Ted.
When you convert enough of them you get pretty good.
Or go crazy.
Or both.

A "Gumby" head stock!!!
New Year's Eve, one of the most pointless holidays ever in my opinion, just became a little more interesting. Thank you Ted!

The sinister side! Hahaha!
A very characterful sound in the end I thought. Well worth repairing. All the best for 2023.
With that chunk of 2x4, I'm reminded of the one memorable line from Crocodile Dundee 2. "That's not a cleat. This is a cleat!"
I love your videos. You’re so soft-spoken and knowledgeable. Very therapeutic. I wish you had more time to put out more.
Nice work Ted........Thanks for the humor...makes the job go easier for sure! These old guitars are without a doubt worth saving
Happy New Year from west coast BC

Watching a new Ted Woodford video is a great way to start my new year.
Best Wishes to Ted, and all the Gang!
I can pretty much say you’re my favourite online luthier. A very intelligent craftsman.
