I've been trying to work out what makes this clip so magical. It hit me hard the first time I ever saw it (that's over a decade ago) and it has stayed in my memory ever since. There is a magic in this clip and I think most of that magic has already been identified in the comments below - the lyrics, the melody, and the "chemistry". The clip is such a pleasure to watch, I have looked at it countless times over the last day trying to identify what it is that results in that sublime chemistry between the two singing besides the lyrics, melody etc. I thought I had it nailed a short while ago.... I thought it was that they never blinked, they just stared at each other the whole time. But, that is incorrect. Whilst they do stare, they also do blink but, when they do, it usually less of a blink and more a gentle opening and closing of eyes. Who would have thought that could be so powerful? But, before posting the above, I thought I should have one last look at the clip and I see that I am totally wrong. Again! I am super pleased at being wrong. I suspect that this is one of those truly beautiful things we (well, people like you who have commented below and me) come across that cannot be broken down in to "byte" size chunks. I love all types of music from Classical to Hard Rock but, I must say, if this song was the last I was to ever hear, I would die a happy man. It still strikes me.
This song is just beautiful. I can't even begin to describe how much I love this song. It brought me to tears. I like this version of the song a lot better than Larry Bagby's original version of this song. His version isn't as highly pitched as this version. He sings it a lot lower and no harmony either. Cold Case is great for turning me onto songs. Whoever does the sound track for the show does a really good job olf picking out the songs. Especially era songs. I could never get sick of the show.
This is also my favourite episode. Cold cases are often very difficult to look at , because very young people never had a chance to make anything of life. I started looking again recently, and it always moves me very much.
@@animallivesmatter7852 oh u said rerun...my bad...sad these series to stop...imagine...i try to find full seasons of law and order in greek subs and its hard..
Truck Sugar looks like Andy Roddick dressed up as a Cowboy!! This is a great Show over the years and this was a great Epsiode in many. Song sticks in your head like glue!! Well Done!!
Nothing beats seeing Mike do this live, singing to his lovely lady in the audience. Mike Stinson wrote the song and is "playing" the pedal steel in the clip. Tony Gilkyson is on guitar and Shawn Nourse is on the drums. Tony, Mike, and Shawn play together often. They are amazing. Shawn is also the drummer in I See Hawks in LA, one of the best bands in Los Angeles.
They aired the episode 5 minutes ago here in germany. I'm a Psytrance-DJ and former Metaldrummer, and now I'm sitting here and slowly dissolve in my own tears.... SO F..... BEAUTIFUL!
I know it’s all fake but I must say it’s a great clip. That break from onstage sing to someone back to reality was really good. When you sing from the heart it’s good. They made it look like real love and break to stage show. Very cool. 👍
I ain't from hood but born and lived in Ethiopia. Great song sir. It's only music, but Otis, van halen or willy. It's a reminder of us as the same sobs.
Larry bagby no hizo nada, la letra es de mike stinson y aunque no se ve igual de bien ante las cámaras es el original, todo lo demás es falso o merchandising,
Mike Stinson wrote the song, but Larry Bagby is doing the vocals here. His solo release is in a lower pitch, but this is his voice on the soundtrack. Actor Shaun Benson is lip-syncing.
Same. I normally do not listen to country music either but love this. I see you wrote this 6 years ago, but another country song I've heard from the TV that I liked was from the movie FOREVER MY GIRL called Smokin' and Cryin'. It surprised me that I liked that one too
Great Song, If my father Roland Baribeau(see my playlists For Roland Baribeau from daughter Cherie Baribeau) on You Tube If he were alive today you can bet we would have done this together on stage at his Country and Western Bar the Silver Dollar in Spfld Ma. I miss him and I miss doing duets with him. Here's to you dad; Salute!!!

Who the hell is this singing? It's been attributed to Mike Stinson (not), Larry Bagby(not), Tim Mc Graw (not) and I've been looking all over you Tube but it's still not clear. If anyone knows the REAL singer here, please post the answer. He probably doesn't even know who he is anymore....
I would also love to know. It doesn't sound anything like Mike Stinson, the timbre of his voice simply does not match that of the singer in this version. The phrasing is much closer to Bagby's version, but again the timbre is different.

I found this song again after a few years and it still makes me very sad. Young people should be able to build up their lives. I did stop watching Cold Case because this episode. Stupid and emotional because it is pure fiction, I know.
Same here - believe me, I'm NOT a country music fan usually, but I fell in love with this song! (but then I've fallen in love with many songs I heard on CC :)
Now, I know that was all stagecraft and lip syncing for that show, but it looked right. Well choreographed. Actors did excellently. Loved the eye eye to eye and movements. At the end when he stopped and broke a smile, that looked real like we do sometimes. I say GOOD JOB ALL!!!
I wonder who the girl is that actually saying this with him, because this version sounds wonderful. There's another version he has with a female singer, but it doesn't sound anywhere as good as this one does.

I totaly agree about soundtracks. And the show, even if it makes me realy sad sometimes. Great cast, too !
Agree, but have you listen writer Larry Parkinson?
Too much letters for too many, en español de España queda mejor,«mucho has dicho, para no decir nada»
Mike Stinson wrote it...

Had to come find this song from the show. Worth it.

Mike Stinson wrote the song, but Larry Bagby is doing the vocals here. His solo release is in a lower pitch, but this is his voice on the soundtrack. Actor Shaun Benson is lip-syncing.
Are the actors actually singing? If not, who supplies the voice for the female singer?

And it feels alright
I'm counting my lucky stars
I hear the beat of another heart
