There are, obviously, a very few academics out there who are compassionate in sharing their knowledge and ideas. Thank you so much for this, Dr. Philip Adu. 😊
The more I listen to the presentation as I move along in my program, the greater the understanding of the qualitative analysis process. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
thank you a very clear and easy to understand presentation. This reflects the expertise of the presenter and his ability to make the content digestible. Thank you.

@@methodologyrelatedpresenta3448 , no worries! Now-a-days, some research professors are either lazy teaching the subject or are just incompetent. Usually, some of them would tell an undergrad students that to do this and that without carefully explaining the process step by step. In the graduate level, some profs would assume that during one's undergrad everything about the research process has already been mastered by the grad student, not considering that every school has different approaches to teaching and different level of expertise and knowledge in the area of research. I always hear that they would always say, "I am just a facilitator of learning", and the ending the student would need to discover everything without any proper guidance. For me the true test of a teacher is how well he or she simplifies the lesson and be able to share and transfer his or her knowledge to his or her students. I can definitely say that you love what you do, and you are a one great teacher. Thanks and great job! Hope to see more of your tutorial videos. 😊😇
Need to stress strongly and present a clear understanding that this is a processes Theories not a fact and can be prejudiced by the individuals subjectivity . It is relative to who is doing the coding and any preconceived goals the coder wants to lead the individual towards. He who controls the knowledge and mechanism can influence masses. This was an excellent presentation. This method of doing due diligence in researching information without former biases has lead to to the realization that we do not live on a spinning water ball. Blessings on your work. Thank you. Seeking truth/reality no matter where it will lead you. The earth is truly flat.
I agree! Researcher’s background, interests and biases could influence how he/she sees, interprets and analyzes data. I provide more information about this in my new book, ‘A Step-by-Step Guide to Qualitative Data Coding’ (www.amazon.com/Step-Step-Guide-Qualitative-Coding-dp-1138486876/dp/1138486876/ref=mt_paperback?_encoding=UTF8&me=&qid=1557076535) Thank you
Thank you very much Dr. Phillip. I got your presentation at the right time. This is a very clear and to the point presentation. Ontology and epistemology were a challenge to me but now I can confidently explain them to others, confidently. Thanks for explaining clearly what coding is. Thanks much and please continue to help the world. Be blessed
Thank you somuch for the video👏. Reading Saldana (2009) book on its own was overwhelming. Listening to this video helped me.. I'm a pro in coding now😎😜😜
Thank you so much! An hour video but it is worth it. Much details to help a beginner understand how to go about qualitative research. Do you have a video on actual sample in doing a qualitative coding made for a single interview? ...say a teacher ...on leadership ... how she handled students with learning difficulty etc. Again, thanks much. May many more people see your video and helped a lot. - AHA 12/7/17
Hello Dr Phillip such a great presentation. My only question is if I develop memo how can i include those memos in thesis/dissertation? Should I use manually?
Dr. Adu, I have started the analysis stage of my PhD research and found your seminar very useful & helpful. I would like to email you from time to time with any questions I might have. May I please? Thank you so much!

Dear Dr. Adu, the last part was the counting of frequencies of codes. Since it's in numbers, is it considered quantitative or this is still a qualitative analysis? Is this a method by Morgan David, quantitative analysis of qualitative data? or is this a mixed method? Overall am I right to say this is a Qualitative Content analysis? Thank you
Thank you for the video. Short question: when doing a qualitative analysis of the interview conducted by a researcher him/herself, normally the interviewer`s questions are not coded, right?
Thank you Prof. Adu for your great knowledge contribution to novices. I would like to ask about using Nvivo for literature review by exporting files from Mendelay to Nvivo. I have no problem to export and import files. However, annotation (highlights) in Mendelay are NOT shown when in Nvivo; it seems all highlights in Mendelay are lost or disappeared when imported into Nvivo. I would appreciate your advice. Thank you. Kind regards,
I am currently working on a Qualitative Analysis of open-ended case study interview data. The interview includes 7-8 themes including goals of the program we are studying, benefits, challenges, risks associated with it and so on. Since the themes are already categorized during interview, does it make sense to code every responses. What kind of coding would be appropriate? Would I be able to extract some Quantitative data out of it?
