Thanks for this video. This can’t have been easy to film at all, as I can tell how disappointing it is to you that you just can’t throw normally with your right hand. Thank you. I really appreciated seeing how dartitis properly affects people. It is a strange thing the human brain. I used to play tennis semi-professionally and I would occasionally get something we called “the elbow” when you just can’t hit a shot in the court and you feel like a total beginner. It is an extremely frustrating experience. Thanks Jack. Love your channel.
i guarantee it wasn't easy atall i know exactly what he's going through honestly its weird asf it was embarrassing enough for me just trying to play and trying to play for my team i couldn't even imagine trying to film this fair play to him for making this video!
I feel your pain mate. I’ve had dartitis for 10 years, to varying degrees. I was unable to play at all really for the first 7 years, and have been able to play to a reasonable enough standard with it for the last 3 years. Unless you’ve experienced it, there’s no way of understanding how frustrating and demoralising it is.
Hi mate, I play darts for a local darts team on the Wirral and I suffered with dartitis around 6/7 years ago. Watching you struggle with the right hand was exactly what happened to me, when I pulled my arm back and then go to throw my arm would freeze and the more I tried to let go of my dart I'd lose balance and sometimes fell over which when playing in a pub made it look to some people that I might have drank too much. Over time I got to a stage where I managed to let go, it took a couple of years to be able to throw but ive got to a point where I don't care if I win or lose anymore I just want to try and enjoy playing my favourite sport. I enjoy your content, keep up the good work
Cheers for bringing awareness to it Jack. I can tell it wasn’t an easy video to watch as someone who’s suffered through it but fair play for uploading it. Good to see your left hand throwing is going well.
I can fully agree with you, it is incredibly frustrating to play with darteritus and only those who have already experienced this feeling can speak about this. my level has decreased enormously but I try to keep going❤️
I know exactly how you feel, it started happening for me in the last couple weeks and it is such a frustrating experience as you can't simply comfortably throw a dart as you are constantly pausing or almost falling over, and the worst part is that other people don't get what you are experiencing.
Mate I have so much respect for you - it happened to me in 2004 - I took 6 weeks off to get used to the change to LH and I know exactly what you're going through. People who haven't been thru it have no idea.
I've been playing very actively for 2 years and recently got dartitis in my right arm. It came out of nowhere and it's gotten really bad in a couple of weeks. I've been trying to play left handed for a few weeks now but it's so hard to see any improvement, especially when right handed was going so well. You keep me motivated to continue practising with my left hand though! It's amazing how much you improved in just 4 months!
Good video Jack. This is something I really hope I never have to experience. Hats off to you for being able to change to your left hand and keep doing what you enjoy 👊🏻
Jack you did amazing you smashed this video out the park, never let anything ever stop you from being Jack. Darttitus should not be able to take your smile, remember it is just a stupid fucking game after all!! 😂🎉
My dad called it darters elbow.. had it mildly myself a while back and had to change my throw.. I could see the agony on your face and I know your pain, good on you for getting through it
Well done Jack mate to revert bk to right hand. Loved this video must be so hard in the mind to throw . With this condition trust me I've seen much worse with it . Very brave and well done mate 🎉
I’ve recently come down with dartitis. I was explaining it to a friend and he said does it hurt, I replied not hurt but it feels like a monumental struggle and it does ya head in. I can throw at home practicing no problem put me in a game I freeze. I appreciate u making the video it would be unbelievably difficult
Thanks for posting. This is something I suffer from but it comes and goes, do teen dart legs then cannot finish in 50 darts. Happens in practice, winner stays on practice games or league games for no reason. Tried lots of different darts, throwing styles, drinking more than less to try to fix it. I love the game and won’t pack it in but I’ve had for 15 years. All the best Jack enjoy your content 👍👍
I've had dartitis, it's horrible. The way I beat it was exercising my Brachioradialis muscle. I dont know if it solved the problem or if it just made me mentally confident in my throw. But it worked, and I'm throwing well again.
Absolutely admire you and love your videos. I have suffered with it myself, I've overcome it. My only advice would be to try and change your throw that's what I have done.
That was really good to see and must have been hard for you mate. So much fluency left now stick with it. 🤣🤣Stuipid F game." 🤣🤣🤣 don't know how many times I have said that. Cheers Jack.
Hard to watch mate but credit to you for sharing so sad to see the struggle like that so cruel. Must be the most frustrating thing ever. My mate had dartitis he cured it by not throwing a dart for weeks he would sit throw little stones into a bucket for about 20 mins each day and it completely got rid of it for him 🤷♂️
Hey Jack - have you ever tried closing your eyes and throwing with your right hand? So not specifically aiming at anything just throw in the direction of the board, eyes closed. Would be interesting to see if the dartitis is still the same!
Until watching this I never realised I do exactly what you do right handed. For me it’s like i’m so set on getting T20 that when I pull back to do the throw there’s a little bell/alarm in my head that just goes “nope, not right” then I have to reset like you do - inevitably missing anyway. Never realised that’s dartitis though, thanks for educating me. I think it relates to perfectionism, like you can’t accept you might miss. That’s how I feel about it anyway. Nice darts nevertheless, good luck with the left hand!
i absolutely understand what you go through throwing with your right hand i had this problem and it stopped me enjoying and playing for over 15 years nothing i tried worked to get rid of it and i ain't gonna lie its was depressing asf its so fucking embarrassing aswell i tried to keep playing for my team for about 6months with it before i just put darts down for good and didn't touch them again. the crazy thing is i gave darts up for that long i have some old personalised flights in my case that are a couple of years older than my son and he's now 12 lol i wouldn't wish dartitis on anyone its one of the worst things I've been through but the good thing is I've been playing for around a year again now with my right hand and all seems good back to normal touch wood i just went with a whole new set up when i came back and alot of years away from darts sadly.
This is exactly the same situation I’m in. I’ve practiced with my left hand enough to where it’s good enough to continue to practice but I just feel it will never best the potential I had with my right before the dartitis.
Dartitis is such a wild concept, but so real. Well don on you for making this video even though you wanted to put it off or not do it at all. Could not have been easy. Respect! Just one question, and I'll sub if you reply, what happens when you get dartitis with your left?
I have done the same thing over the past 5 years, can’t throw any darts right handed with my dartitis effecting all three darts. I switched and still hit 180s, it’s amazing how quick you can adjust although I do wish I could throw normally with my dominant hand. Nice to see I’m not the only crazy one doing this 🤪
I feel your pain mate. I put myself kinda in the same State while i was playing Darts during my final exams. I stressed myself in both. I hope i will get back to my old strength i am wishing you the best of luck
I got dartitis too but with my left hand. Two months ago I switcht on my right hand and its so much more fun because you dont feel this heavy pressure. Of course it needs time to get better, but I recommend it to everyone with dartitis
Even tho right hand won, it is visible that at this point you're way more comfortable throwing left handed Left just had that leg of double trouble, happens to the best mate :P
Had dartitis on and off for years, have you tried throwing with your bad hand while shutting your eyes? It just stopped when i did this, obviously it's not a fix but it gives you the feeling of just throwing again. Try it and stop aiming at anything. I also just changed my grip for a while too, i think it's all about tricking your brain and giving it something else to concentrate on. Thanks for the video though, it's something that doesn't really get talked about.
My mum has dartitis she falls forward very often (it can be quite sad to watch) Someone in my team also switched from right to left because of dartitis and he’s got really good with his left
This is a serious question but have you tried having a few beers and playing darts? Interested to know if a few beers helps with it. Ive never experienced it myself but just curious
Yes 😂 right handed I’d drink about 8 pints to play darts, played last night left handed, had 1 pint, hit a 180 and beat a player in the top division. I don’t need as much alcohol left handed at all. Ideally 3-4 pints is my left handed limit
That's hilarious mate. It's like when you play someone really bad and they drag you to their level. Your right hand dragged your left hand to it's level 😂
Well done I can not throw with my left ever ❤. Intreasting mate . Try pinching dart harder . In right fingers Jack 🎉 it may work mate good luck big support mate
It is very difficult comparing throwing left to right hand performance if you play against urself (not looking at dartits itself) because you cannot get into any kind of rhythm, i tried it also once, i do not have dartitis and my strong hand got so much worse doing switching every throw. try to compare it against a bot or a similar Strength opponent so you can at least keep the concentration on one hand, this way you are starting to confuse yourself even more. that is atleast what i have experienced playing against myself with both hands alternating xD
Hey mate I'm.a Dartitis sufferer . I'm.53 years old now and I first got Dartitis when I was 18 .. 8 had it severe , worse than what you are showing year . My best mate reckoned I was obe of the best dart players he ever saw . I used to miss dart board all together and would even hit the skirting board in my bedroom . I went to the pub with my dad many years ago and had a game and it was just as bad do I started playing with my left hand and I think my first s ire was 133 on 19s . He said I should throw with my left permanently. I have had a 180 with my left hand . I had no problem at all with the throw , grip and follow through but the problem is I cant get stance or allignment right , just feels awkward . I also dont have the patience to swap over . I'm still playing right handed and now and again it will appear but I generally seem to manage it . I had to change everything , stance , grip , throw , darts . Cunt o thing the Dartitis. I stilk get fucked off when people say stop thinking about it just throw . The other guy in you tube "Straight to the Point " darts has a video on it . Took him 3 years to change over and says he'll never go back to right handed.
Sooo, weird thing happened... I was in bed, watching this and then were like let me get up and throw a few... Lo and behold, I threw my very first 180!!! Something in this video inspired me to get up and throw! Thanks mate!!
Dont feel like an idiot chief, this is a problem lots of people deal with and its very educational tbh. I dont suffer from this but i hope it doesnt happen because my left is rubbish
I think you said you wanted your left hand to win but you want your right hand back as it was , it’s hard mate I don’t suffer myself with it but have known people who have and it’s hard to watch, must be so annoying
i find it crazy how you can even throw left handed when your naturally a right handed player i cannot throw left handed atall feels weird asf and the walls in trouble 💀 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Can someone explain to me how dartitis can become such a big deal. Yeah fair enough getting the yips in a big tournament is understandable but lets be honest, just hucking something with your right hand isnt exactly life or death is it? Plus playing by yourself cant be that yippy. Loads of people are shit at darts so if youre worrying that much about throwing with a particular hand surely this is a 1st world problem. Surely you must have to get to a certain skill level to even get the yips because beginners generally don't really care about being rubbish. Obviously everyones mental health is important but I'm just trying to understand how something with so little real life consequence can be so debilitating.
It's essentially a form of performance anxiety. Anxiety based disorders have no rhyme or reason most of the time. Something as simple as throwing a dart or swinging a club casually can trigger it. Our brains are doing a million things at once, sometimes it gets it wrong and stays like it. Sometimes it eventually fixes itself, sometimes it can't. It's probably why combining beta blockers and therapy can help greatly in some people (A common combination treatment for anxiety), but beta blockers are generally banned in most sports.
@@jimjiggles1474 Cheers for explaining. I guess coming from other sports such as cricket bowling, if I had anxiety about my bowling due to nerves or a bad performance we would either have mental coaching, support from teammates or just good old fashioned practice until we beat it. I guess as darts is a solo sport the support isn't always there and it's not as easy as practicing until it wears off. I think long term though switching to another hand can't be a long term fix, because what happens if you get dartitis in that hand too?
So I’ll try my best to explain this since I tend to struggle with dartitis myself sometimes, but basically it just shows up and it’s very hard to get rid of. Before I had problems with dartitis, I used to think that it was a bit ridiculous and that it couldn’t be that hard to just throw your dart even when you had a dartitis attack, but it’s not as simple as that (which I found put the hard way lol). So right at the beginning that you start to see signs of dartitis, atleast for me, you sometimes tended to have problems with releasing the dart. This was sporadically, and it didn’t occur often at all. But after some time it started to happen more and more often and you just get frustrated because of it (this was all in my garage where I play darts for the last 4 years now, so with no pressure whatsoever). It’s really frustrating to not be able to let go of your dart, and once you start thinking about it and get frustrated it just worsens. My worst experience of it was at a local tournament, where players like Van Den Bergh, Huybrechts and De Decker also participated in. It was my first tournament and the pressure definitely got the better of me, but that’s when dartitis also is at its worst. It’s so frustrating playing an opponent you have never seen in your life but not being able to throw normally, and losing the match because of it. It’s just a ‘blockade’ in your head, and you simply have to restart your throw over and over again. I hope this helps in any way, it’s not a simple ‘don’t be stupid just let go of your dart’ thing there’s way more behind it 😅 (Perhaps also interesting, I’m a 60-70 average player and when dartitis started showing up in my throw I averaged around 50 or so)
@@athax5261 cheers for explaining your pov. I did think it could be much more prevalent in competitions but I didn't know if it subsided enough to not be an issue in say ... A casual round with friends where anxiety levels are much more reduced. Obviously there's a way I can state my opinion and ask in the correct way too, so glad everyone's been so patient in explaining as I am genuinely interested to know more about it. I've worked in palliative care before so I'm not sure I could ever contract dartitis because I just have a mental blocker in my head that there's so many more worse things that can happen in life, throwing darts at a board could never be a huge burden to me mentally if that makes sense.
@@SteveLPDNBThat social structure probably does help a lot in preventing a form of the yips. Both cricket and bowling have players with their own yips. It seems to affect repetitive fine motor actions. So throwing, swinging or batting. You don't really find it in sports like football, American football or rugby where there is less use of fine motor skills.
Seems like a genuinely lovely bloke. But this has raised more questions than answers for me. As someone who doesn’t often play darts, the concept just seems wild.
“Stupid fucking game innit” never a truer word spoken 😂
Thanks for this video. This can’t have been easy to film at all, as I can tell how disappointing it is to you that you just can’t throw normally with your right hand. Thank you. Mate, not easy to expose yourself like this but I think its great for those also suffering to see and hopefully learn how to adapt. Fair play 👏👏

Exactly. I still get fucked off when people say dont think about, just throw . Got no idea.
I’m 40 yr old and giggled when you said “I just beat myself with my right hand “ 😂
38 soon, same thing here. hehehehehe
I’m older than you and it got me as well
Shows we are all still mentally young 😂 😂
38 years old. I giggled, too.
As a 17 year old I didn't even get it in the beginning 😂

Nice video, I’d invert the thumbnail though as the time covers the text :)
Its always hard to watch someone with dartitis but I'm glad you made the video :)
Mate I have so much respect for you - it happened to me in 2004 - I took 6 weeks off to get used to the change to LH and I know exactly what you're going through. People who haven't been thru it have no idea.
That’s true had people laughing at me
I've been playing very actively for 2 years and recently got dartitis in my right arm. It came out of nowhere and it's gotten really bad in a couple of weeks. same 4 me. glad to see im not alone wirh this problem. from 65 back zu 20 😄
Good video Jack. This is something I really hope I never have to experience. Hats off to you for being able to change to your left hand and keep doing what you enjoy 👊🏻
amazing to see you push through just to please some viewers, really appreciate the content, great vid
Jack you did amazing you smashed this video out the park, never let anything ever stop you from being Jack. Darttitus should not be able to take your smile, remember it is just a stupid fucking game after all!! 😂🎉

Finally👍🏼👍🏼 I wrote this idea for a video under so many videos and in your live chat😂😂
The fact you've hot more 180s than me already (and im left handed) is crazy, keep up the good work 🎉❤
That was really good to see and must have been hard for you mate. So much fluency left now stick with it. 🤣🤣Stuipid F game." 🤣🤣🤣 don't know how many times I have said that. Cheers Jack.
Feel your pain mate. I’m in the exact same boat where my right handed dartitis beats my new left handed throw
Hard to watch mate but credit to you for sharing so sad to see the struggle like that so cruel. Must be the most frustrating thing ever. My mate had dartitis he cured it by not throwing a dart for weeks he would sit throw little stones into a bucket for about 20 mins each day and it completely got rid of it for him 🤷♂️
keep pushing mate it’s never good playing with dartitis ❤️

I think it relates to perfectionism, like you can’t accept you might miss. That’s how I feel about it anyway.
Nice darts nevertheless, good luck with the left hand!
absolutely class mate, that mustn’t have been easy to put yourself through, leaps and bounds as a player and a man❤️
i absolutely understand what you go through throwing with your right hand i had this problem and it stopped me enjoying and playing for over 15 years nothing i tried worked to get rid of it and i ain't gonna lie its was depressing asf its so fucking embarrassing aswell i tried to keep playing for my team for about 6months with it before i just put darts down for good and didn't touch them again.
the crazy thing is i gave darts up for that long i have some old personalised flights in my case that are a couple of years older than my son and he's now 12 lol
i wouldn't wish dartitis on anyone its one of the worst things I've been through but the good thing is I've been playing for around a year again now with my right hand and all seems good back to normal touch wood i just went with a whole new set up when i came back and alot of years away from darts sadly.

This is an underrated reply. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪👍👍👍👍👍

I should be a member
So gut, wie du mit links werfen kannst. Ich wünsche dir gute Besserung, auf Grund deiner dartitis. Best wishes from 🇩🇪
I feel your pain mate.
Even tho right hand won, it is visible that at this point you're way more comfortable throwing left handed
Left just had that leg of double trouble, happens to the best mate :P
Watched you on the Modus not long ago and I thought your new throw looked lovely , nice follow though.
The last dart seems to be significantly harder. Hold 4 darts or throw phantom darts before shooting?
Feel for ya man am in the same spot, can’t switch to left though or my marker at the board would be in grave danger
Had dartitis on and off for years, have you tried throwing with your bad hand while shutting your eyes? It seems you switch which eye you aim with depending on Right vs Left handed. Regardless of your hand you should always use dominant eye to aim
My mum has dartitis she falls forward very often (it can be quite sad to watch)
Someone in my team also switched from right to left because of dartitis and he’s got really good with his left
I have the same with my right hand. It is really frustrating, i dont know if i wanna play anymore. It is to frustrating for me.
I've been dealing with it for a few months, too.
This is a serious question but have you tried having a few beers and playing darts? Interested to know if a few beers helps with it. Ive never experienced it myself but just curious

hi mate i also got dartitis i am close to get it away wat a do is trow for trow and dont aim
I went thru the same, i might have to try this one it could be fun
what automatic darts scoring system do you have?
That's hilarious mate. It's like when you play someone really bad and they drag you to their level. Your right hand dragged your left hand to it's level 😂
Well done I can not throw with my left ever ❤. Intreasting mate . Try pinching dart harder . In right fingers Jack 🎉 it may work mate good luck big support mate
One thing I get is my right calf goes solid and elbow gets hot as well do you get any physical symptoms like your elbow gets hot
When throwing a ball for luna does anything similar happen? Just curious
Nah not at all

Anyone know where he got his scoreboard from?
No1darts is where the data comes from
It's a Fossman numeric keypad, which is connected to the tablet/computer that's got the no 1 darts app on
thanks for the vid mate feel for you that must be horrible
Sooo, weird thing happened... I was in bed, watching this and then were like let me get up and throw a few... Lo and behold, I threw my very first 180!!! Something in this video inspired me to get up and throw! Thanks mate!!
Jack are you worried that you may develop Dartitis in your left hand?
Hope you and family are doing well 👍🏻
obviously this is not what you want but what will you do if you get dartitus in ur left hand
Dont feel like an idiot chief, this is a problem lots of people deal with and its very educational tbh. I dont suffer from this but i hope it doesnt happen because my left is rubbish
Wouldn't a few pints help?
Can see the mental pain in your face right handed. Glad your sticking lefty. U seem to enjoy darts more
I know what you mean Jack I had dartitis in my left hand then I changed to right handed and I haven't had any trouble since
big fan 😁
I think you said you wanted your left hand to win but you want your right hand back as it was , it’s hard mate I don’t suffer myself with it but have known people who have and it’s hard to watch, must be so annoying
Horrible to watch...I get it sometimes.. respect for showing that 👍👍
i find it crazy how you can even throw left handed when your naturally a right handed player i cannot throw left handed atall feels weird asf and the walls in trouble 💀 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've had mixed feelings watching this video.
Can you write itus 😉
15 double ten I would of gone
Dartitis is just horrible! I also had it when I was younger.
Why don‘t you Play right handed when youre better😂
I hope this helps in any way, it’s not a simple ‘don’t be stupid just let go of your dart’ thing there’s way more behind it 😅
(Perhaps also interesting, I’m a 60-70 average player and when dartitis started showing up in my throw I averaged around 50 or so)
@@athax5261 cheers for explaining your pov.
Conclusion - shit on both hands 😭jk
I had it as a kid .it's a mental block the brain won't let go of the dart
Seems like a genuinely lovely bloke. But this has raised more questions than answers for me. As someone who doesn’t often play darts, the concept just seems wild.
It’s just a silly little video mate, I really wouldn’t be too concerned
