Thank you for your effort and sincerity. Usually I look for you turning up the water with a speedboat. Funny I should find you here while I was looking for a way to fix my Renogy BT one. My take on it is that Renogy has deliberately disabled that little device in pursuit of profit. During the downtime when my system is completely shut off Renogy changed the program so that it required registration for a new login. Now all it does is provide commercials for Renogy products. Thanks again from a fellow badger and I’ll treat you to a bratwurst if I ever bump into you in person.
i would have to completely agree with you on RENOGY. it states it works with any wifi hotspot, this is total crap, it doesn't. i have a WANDERER controller connected with a bluetooth module. it never connected with the M1. something they don't tell you is that the WANDERER has to be a newer version, mine is only a little under 2 years old and not compatable. i also have a ROVER 20A. it connects to the M1 and like you say, the M1 stopped talking the the ROVER within a matter of hours, do a reset and you have to start again with connection. RENOGY is a load of crap. i decided to make my own monitor using an ESP32 with a built-in display which then connects to any hotspot/WIFI then to my phone anywhere in the world.
Greetings from the 🇬🇧. Almost got m1 but realised I would need Bluetooth modules for my older renogy mppt, my older renogy batts and it won't connect no matter what to my still current renogy inverter. Contacted customer services, 2 weeks later got an ai response with no answer whatsoever so gave up on the idea. Will slowly replace all with victron as I can afford to. Very poor company to deal with.
I'd like to argue that the old Renogy Rover doesn't actually know the SOC of the battery. That estimation is one of the worst estimates that you should never use because it doesn't know the load on the battery, and also doesn't take into account if an absorb or EQ charge has been done recently. So, never use that SOC calculation. It's not accurate and doesn't tell you the full story. But yeah the Renogy monitoring stuff is a joke. Most people end up going DIY with monitoring.
I get that SOC isn't accurate, I just wanted to be able to see if it's staying around 100% or getting lower over time. Instead it showed literally nothing. If I saw it started to tank I could have called a neighbor to turn off power to some things.
Agree with this. My Renogy DCDC/MPPT charger gives me a SoC bases on voltage which I initially thought would be adequate, but turned out to be completely useless, simply because lithium voltage tells you nothing. I went ahead and installed a Renogy battery monitor with shunt for this reason. However it would be nice to customise the display around the products you actually have installed.
I feel your pain. I bought the Lycan 5000 Powerbox and the Renogy One to monitor it remotely. It works some of the time but only after I restart the Renogy One every day. For some reason, it loses connection to my WiFi every day and only restarting it will fix it. The Lycan works great but it does not like the Renogy One. Complete trash!
The solar charge controller cannot actually tell you if your battery is charged, it’s an estimate at best based on voltage. You need a shunt and battery monitor. Why didn’t you go for the Renogy one core instead? Was there are firmware update required?
I also made the mistake of purchasing Renogy products. I have the Renogy hybrid inverter which has been very disappointing. I contacted Renogy with technical questions and were worthless. I've updated to eg4 6000xp
Frustrating to be sure, but given the trouble finding the charger or reading any info from it, did you try another cable? I have a few Renogy things in my 4wd and they work fine although i think the data presentation on the app could be improved. Dunno about USA but here in Oz Renogy is a budget option vs alternatives like Redarc at about 4 times the price, so some compromises are to be expected. Having said that, basic things like connecting to Wi-Fi are pretty fundamental. Possibly faulty unit?
Possibly faulty, but they wouldn't even ship me a new one even though I was boned thanks to their product. It was a brand new ethernet cable, should have worked fine and both products have the same communication protocol. I didn't even get into the app, it was bad when I used it a year ago. How much more expensive is Victron over there?
@@ADDvanced depends on the product but I was just watching another UA-cam review titled "is Renogy shit" by an Australian based reseller who deals with both Renogy and Victron. He noted that a Victron inverter runs close to 4x the price of a Renogy one.

But for remote control I am using an old smartphone permanently connected to my system (battery removed!), Teamviewer installed. No sub, no dumb one/core sh..t in between. And even if the shitty DC Home app is broken, I can check my battery monitor ans other components by that smartphone camera which is pointed to the control panel. Cost me nothing 😎.
I regret buying the shunt 300, it's been so unreliable, it refuses to talk to the One Core controller, keep dropping off from DC Home, needs resetting on a daily basis I contacted Renogy support and was told it wont work with a non Renogy battery !!, then they said you can't use it as a standalone product and you have to buy a One Core panel to use it !!, this was completely incorrect as I pointed out in their own user manual it can be used with any brand of battery, I am using this in a second vehicle with a Li-Time as a standalone through DC Home and all it's been is trouble, latest is a red light flashing and can't find out why, there was a firmware update to One Core a few days ago and not it doesn't talk to One Core anymore, IMO don't waste your money on this it just going to cause you headaches.
Shit!!! I just purchased there 200 watt suit case directly from them with extension cables. It comes with there Voyager charge controller. Wish I saw your video sooner!!!! Wish me luck! I feel bad for you brother!
I can confirm Renogy products suck and their tech support is more interested in running out the clock on warranties. I will never buy anything they produce again.
There is a reason "Friends don't let friends buy Renogy". Not my saying, but I agree, after the fact unfortunately. Nothing talks to Renogy, even Renogy most times. Their Bluetooth is lucky to get 10' range.
Thought about it. Tried to do it. But the POS renogy charger never charged my batteries properly, and it went offline shortly after I left. I came back next time with all Victron components, and it's been solid ever since.
