36HP VW Air-Cooled Engine Revival Part 4: The Startup

This is the final part of a 4-part mini-series on an engine revival project I've been working on over the past few months. I started with a pile of old parts and a seized-up crankcase, and I finished with a working engine. This isn't a rebuild or restoration video, it's a project that aims to get the engine running using as many of the original parts as possible. The techniques used aren't always correct, and many proved to be counterproductive, but it was an enjoyable and educational experience nonetheless.

If you are by yourself and the starter goes out you can pull start it with a tie strap wrapped around the pulley I keep a tie strap in my bug just in case .there are videos on how to do it

I assume you've discounted any valve problems re: compression ?
It's just that You have said nothing at all about the valves.
