Very nice. Was a studio rat back in the 80's, and got to be a fly on the wall in a couple of his sessions. He was very creative and knew more music theory than most of the people in the room. His favorite songwriter/musician/arranger was Rod Temperton. Him, David Franks (from the System) and Jimmy Jam were the most jaw-dropping, non-Jazz cat synth bass players I ever seen...especially Jimmy Jam. He was a killing improviser and hand chops like Jan Hammer, which you can kind of hear on Cherrelle's "Didn't Mean to Turn You On" :-)
Thanks for the kind words, I really appreciate it! Already made a System/David Frank video and definitely have a couple of Jam/Lewis tracks on my list that I want to cover ;)
@@csmcrckrs Hubert Eaves III (who collaborated w/D-Train) is also another synth bassist you might want to add to your list. Assuming you already know about Louis Cole, from the band Knower :-)
Thank you for this!!! I've been a Kashif fan since the early 80s. Even before he released his first album. I've been obsessed with his signature sound. Finding this was a true treasure. It's good to see others appreciate his music. Kashif was so underrated.
Thank you for the kind words ... I really have to make another Kashif cover! I am a huge fan of his sound and his production work (I also did an Evelyn Champagne King cover), but his first solo album is my absolute favorite!
The Moog sounds great. I was recently introduced to Barry Biggs's cover of Love Come Down where Kashif is credited to be playing the mini Moog on that track. Going to try and get my sub37 sound like this!
@@csmcrckrs ahh yeah I see your cover. Love the mini moog sound. If you haven’t checked the Barry Biggs version take a listen. There’s something about the sound of the moog on that version which is quite special. I imagine it’s something to do with the filter/keyboard tracking
@@csmcrckrs Depends on the record but yeah they used plethora of gear back in the day. Kashif 2nd album was heavy on Oberheim and same with Melba Moore. But never mind bro, I love your videos and thanks a bunch for bringing back the soul funky awesomeness from the 80's! 😎👍
Unfortunately not. From what I've heard, there is less of a sweet spot in the VST version. You'll have to use my settings as a starting point and carefully tweak everything from there using your ears! Good luck!
Great catch! Although I'm playing the guitar on camera, I actually recorded the part with e-piano ... I think in the OG version it is a guitar sound though ;)
You did a well done job on this peace, lol alot of strategy In compensating in the Theory of what sounds we can get out of these boards today for the particular sounds that was being done back than , good way to roll with the basics of what was being used 👍 your covers was well replaced . Way to go it took skills to recover the format of this joint , and you covered it very well bro 👍.

R.i.p kashif
Excellent work. I Just sang along to this at full volume. My neighbours must be absolutely delighted as they are banging on the wall for more.
I use to get the, same thing on date nite at my pad listening to RW KELLY! 😂👍
Thumpin, bumping & bangin!!
To find a cover of this is amazing.
GENIO 80's top great KASHIF R.I.P The best vinyl 1983 / BLUE SHIRT
Facts! I put that "blue shirt" album on after grilling a nice steak with a cold beer and his music nearly brings me to tears from the awesomeness.

It's so tight man.

Nailed it 👍🏼 this is one of my favourite tracks and you did it justice. I’d love to have a go at this myself on my own Moog
Genius! The whole production is awesome
May i bother asking you which synth did you use for the lead? (Those first 3 notes) :)
Yes bro! 🔥🫶 are you in a band?
Good job bro
Very cool, thanks for introducing me to this song
Great cover man, both the sounds and the chops are spot on!
Good job dude.
You nailed the sound/patch selection
Happy July 4th - 2022! Awesome sounds...👍👈
Excellent. This 🔥🔥
Nice job. Well done. I don't have a Minimoog D but it is my mission to replicate those sounds as close as possible with what I got.
Parabéns, excelente !!!!
Amazing 👍

this is great !
Sounds great on the minimoog but would be nice to hear the OBXA or X8 which was the original Kashif/Melba/Evelyn/Lillo etc used.
The bass part was played on a Minimoog!

@@vladi8868 Ah you're absolutely right: The later albums had a completely different sound, with the trademark Moog bass sound notably absent!
I tried your settings on Arturia's Mini V. Didn't quite sound right. Any chance of your doing this for us Virtual Minimoog users?

Nice.😊Can you do a tutorial of this song it will be great..
Nice one! Is that a guitar or synth sound at 2:28?

@@csmcrckrs Right, I thought maybe you were triggering MIDI with your guitar somehow ... thanks!
