    This was a really enjoyable watch. You mentioned feeling out of your comfort zone with the format, but I thought you did a fantastic job! And I 100% agree with you about paper being so important to the writing process. I might be willing to jot notes on whatever, but if I'm sitting down to journal or write a letter, I need it to be an enjoyable experience all the way around. Thank you for sharing with us!

    What a lovely video. I’m so glad you decided to join the 8penquestions this year! I’m a big fan of AdventureDenali’s channel and agree her videos are very comforting. It’s very sweet that your holy grail pen found you, and you gave me some food for thought about letting the paper play a role in the pen that you choose to write with. 🥰

      I am happy people are reacting to the Pelikan story in the same way I did it's really special. And I do have a little bit of a paper fixation I suppose! Thank you for your comment :)

    Hi Hana , your genuine love for writing and journaling is so apparent in this video ❤
    I love that you have a minimalist mindsight to what you own and collect ( I have maximalist tendencies that I need to work on 😂)
    It's neat how your two favorite colors (ancient copper and avocado ) happen to reflect the landscape of Arizona 😉

    • @hanasonder

      Thank you, it's good to hear that it translates, my writing is not creative or interesting, but the act itself has meant a lot to me for a while now.
      No shame in maximalism, as long as you feel good in your choices it's all good! 😁

    Most excellent video. I love the use of props. It was missing in last years versions. I too am in it for the pens, and love blue inks too, but I like dark blues, navy, blue-black. How nice to have inherited pens from your father, and to get your grail as well. How wonderfully fortunate for that to have worked out that way. It is a Pelikan 140?? It looks like it, and is a great pen.

      I am glad you enjoyed the video, and thank you for letting me know. The cap I got with the Pelikan says 120, I understand 120's are mainly solid color though so it is possible it may have been a case of switched caps by the former owner as 120 and 140 are so similar

    I enjoyed hearing about your pen journey. You really captured the essence of how paper selection affects the writing experience. Question: do you incorporate fountain pen friendly paper in your junk journal at all?

    • @hanasonder
      @hanasonder  4 місяці тому +1

      This was my first attempt at making a junk journal and I thought mostly about storing all the scraps, tickets and paper notes. If I were making it now I would make several different choices, but at that time I just wanted to use up the paper supplies I had. In short no, not this time, but next time for sure!

    Lovely video. Have you been tempted by a Montblanc from the Meisterstueck line? (The 146-149?) If you find them used from a reputable dealer, they are not too out of reach in terms of cost. And they write divinely--in some ways, they're the only fountain pens you'll ever need. Only the Pilot Custom 823 compares. If I had to reduce my pens to two, I would keep the Montblanc 149 and the Pilot Custom 823. In my experience, there are simply no better pens. (Maybe I'd also keep a cheap Kaweco to go hiking or something like that where a finer pen might be at risk.) I am afraid of becoming a collector--it would distract me from writing. Same with inks. There are so many out there. I don't want to amass bottles and bottles of eccentric inks. So, I keep to the basics and to brands that are easily obtainable around the world. Montblanc Royal Blue is my first choice. The Diamines are good and gradually becoming more widely available. Parker Quink Blue is rarely cited, but it is excellent and, again, easily obtainable.

    • @hanasonder
      @hanasonder  4 місяці тому

      I love seeing Montblancs and Pilot Custom 823 naturally. They have a sleek look, classic and comfortable, but it's not at the top of my list at the moment. Partially because I've never written with it that I know. And I agree, it's not wanting to have a collection of pens I'm not using. The same goes for inks, though blue's are not my favorite, they remind me of school days when all the stationery was in navy blue shades and I just have a resistance towards blues now.
      Do you generally prefer European made pens? Thank you for an interesting comment!

    • @user-qj4dx4fc3n
      @user-qj4dx4fc3n 4 місяці тому

      @@hanasonder At present, I love European pens such as Montblanc and Pelikan. I like the look of Conway Stewart (British), but they use Jowo nibs, not in-house, and for that reason I find them very overpriced. Aurora from Italy also makes lovely pens. American pens used to be great--the original Sheaffer and Parker were innovative and extraordinary. But they are no longer made in the USA and are a ghost of what they once were. (The recently reintroduced Parker 51--made in China, not sure--is the worst pen I have ever tried.) If you can ever acquire a Sheaffer made before 2000, from the factory in Fort Madison, Iowa, you will love the incredible in-laid nibs. But that's the past. Esterbrooks used to be American as well; now it is simply a brand name stuck onto pens using Jowo nibs. As for ink--Sheaffer also made its own ink, called Skrip. Again, no longer produced in America, if at all. I know what you mean about blue ink and the school association; I've now reached an age where I think back nostalgically about my school days, even if in reality they were hell. (Smile.) I hope that you someday get to try a Montblanc 149 pen, and a Plot 823. Not everyone loves the same things, but I am willing to bet that you will be impressed. Thank you. I love your channel.

    • @hanasonder

      @@user-qj4dx4fc3n Pelikan's are absolutely classic for a reason, I also hope I get to try Pilot Custom 823 as everyone is always talking about how great they are, but now I'll keep an eye out for Montblanc 149 as well! Shaeffer and Parker were a synonym for good quality pens when I was learning to write, I wasn't aware their quality dropped since the 2000's, I'll be mindful of that. Kaweco Sports are work horses and they just look nicer than a Twsby Eco or a Lamy Safari to me. I appreciate your comments, thank you to you too!

      @@user-qj4dx4fc3n I too would keep my MB, and Pelikans, and Deltas, and Watermans, but above all I'll keep my OMAS. I will pass the rest down, but the OMAS is coming with me.

    • @user-qj4dx4fc3n
      @user-qj4dx4fc3n 3 місяці тому

      @@ironmic9244 I have to agree with your love of OMAS. I have two old-style Ogivas. They write beautifully. The nibs are indescribable, soft, exquisite. BUT--I find these pens to be on the delicate side. They are not for using out in the field. I only use them at my desk.
