I like the both of you came much later after all of the movies were done to view the series. I had bought the books for my sons but they really didn't get into them. But now I love these movies. Perhaps one day I might read the books.

What Ron saw in the Mirror of Erised is a lot deeper than it seems. Ron is the youngest brother in a large family, but not even with the special place of being youngest child due to his sister, Ginny. He has deep feelings of inadequacy, he's incredibly self-conscious about being poor, and he longs for just a little bit of recognition that he has value just as himself, which he isn't even sure he deserves. This is an important piece of his character motivation throughout the series.
Also, his older brothers are each already accomplished or noteworthy in one way or another. And his new best friend is famous throughout the wizarding world. So far, Ron seems all around average, which only increases his self-consciousness.

The first two movies are a bit more child friendly than the others so I'm sure you'll like the later ones even more! The movies mature as the characters grow older too
Child friendly? This movie gave me nightmares as a kid. Shadowy cloaked figure sucking the unicorn's blood, the face coming out of the book, Ron being stuck in the vines.

the thing that stuck with me the most was hagrid, quidditch/flying and diagon alley. maybe the real life monsters of a family in my life are worse., that's y i dont find it scary but rather as an adventure?lol....n definitely pissed off at the dursley. virtually my life.
harry also did think it was scary.
The movies fail to explain an important plot point the books were explicit about, and as a result every reactor I have seen on UA-cam asks the same questions; Why does Harry have to return to the Dursley's every summer. The reason is because there is a protection charm over Harry that require him to return to his blood relatives for at least a short time. If he did not return to Privet Drive every summer, Harry would be vulnerable to attack by dark forces when not within the walls of Hogwarts.
When you said that you didn't want to get into Harry Potter cause you were into darker/gruesome/whatever stuff... just you wait, it progressively gets darker and more violent and there are some horror elements later on. Also, you're more observant than the vast majority of reactors, so I'm looking forward to more HP reactions.
I was 33 when the first movie came out. I had heard of the books, but thought "they're kids books." So, I took my two daughters to the first movie, then the second movie when it came out. Then, I started reading the books and loved them. It's truly a series for all ages.
Nicholas Flamel was a real person in 14th century France. In the 17th century rumors spread that he was an alchemist and had created the Philosopher’s stone which granted him immortality and the ability to create gold.
He was mentioned in one of Isaac Newton’s diaries and the Hunchback of Notre Dame.
One of his houses still stands in Paris and is the oldest stone house in the city.
Definitely read the books. There is a lot more to the story.
I'd watch then read. The books add a lot, which makes the movies a bit disappointing, there the reverse order, the books still have a lot of substance to add. Only the 3rd movie wasn't disappointing on first run, as a reader first. Of course on my 30th watch, or wherever I am, I love them all, but it is largely nostalgia.
The movies get so much darker after the 3rd movie... you're in for a hell of a ride! 😊

Dumbledore trolling Slytherin at the end never gets old 😂
he for sure is biased 😂😂 but it's still wholesome ❤ best thing for me about that scene will always be Neville actually making the difference and being the man of the moment. „it takes a great deal to stand up to your enemies, but a great deal more to stand up to your friends" - always loved that because it applies to real life so so much
@@mrsfahrenheit It really wasn't wholesome at all. The Slytherin kids had rightfully thought that they had won and then had the rug pulled out from under them just as they had started celebrating. Dumbledore could have awarded Gryffindor the extra points before the points were announced and the hall was decorated for Slytherin but he waited to really stab them in the back. I don't know if that is how it played out in the books but I always thought it was unnecessarily cruel. Just because we all hate Malfoy doesn't mean all Slytherins deserve our wrath.

Also, JK Rowling was HEAVILY influenced by Lord of the Rings and JRR Tolkien. Tons of similarities in the nooks and crannies of the stories, as well as some blatant crossover.

My daughter brought the first book home from the school library in first grade (2001) and Santa proceded to bring the first 4 (which I read in the cupboard under the stairs (Santas planning place) leading up to Christmas. I've been in love with the franchise ever since. In fact it got me writing fan fiction which led to writing fiction. My first novel length work was about Snape's mum. Glad you are watching.
The series gets darker each movie/book. It was great reading these while growing up because as I grew up so did the series.
I still think about what a tease it must've been for Slytherin to be told they basically won, have the banners all be repping Slytherin and then Dumbledore says "just kidding, actually.."

i was in my mid 20's when this came out. I didn't think some "kid" movie would be my thing. By 2010ish, I finally got around to starting the movies. I was pleasantly surprised just like you guys.

as a kid who grew up with Harry Potter, the original PC & Playstation games are *classics* my sister and I played them on our little windows 2000 computers (with no internet lol) dozens of times. The first few are so goofy looking back at them, but they were SO fun
If you want to see how AMAZING an actor David Bradley (Filch/Walder Frey) is you've got to watch Broadchurch with David Tennant and Olivia Coleman, that show is incredible

I had no idea you hadn't seen this! I'm beyond excited! I saw every movie at the cinema as a kid, and let me tell you, you watch it, and then when it's done and you have to go back to the real world, you got depressed because your reality was very bleak and uneventful in comparison to the Harry Potter world. As for the games, the 3d and the 4th ones are my favorite. The graphics of course are crap but the gameplay is pretty fun, you get to run around Hogwars, discover hidden stuff, and do quests.
I just love your channel! BTW, J.K. Rowling is fluent in French, Voldemort is supposed to be a French name. So Trin, you pronounce it and that's the way J.K. meant it to be pronounced!

I haven't been a child for a very, very long time, but I watch HP every year at Christmas time. I was already around 25 years old when the books came out and still enjoyed reading them (even more than once). I think it's nice that you're doing the Potter journey. I'm looking forward to watching you.

I'm from the UK Rob & Trin and I remember having to go to school and buy the school uniform, with the blazer, and school badge. I started year 7 the same year the last Harry Potter movie came out back in 2011. I also had school houses in my Primary School to. I was in St Patrick's House which was the colour green 🟩, my primary school had 4 colour houses, Red house 🟥 Blue house 🟦 green house 🟩 and yellow house 🟨...... Oh how I miss the old days.

For reasons not explained in the movies, Harry MUST return to the Dursley's home at the end of the school seasons.

If you don't already know...there are 7 books/8 movies. Each book was the next year at Hogwarts, so in this one they're 11, next 12, etc... As they get older, the stories/movies get more mature and darker. Obviously, the books go deeper into the stories, so sometimes there are things left out of the movies. I actually watched the movies first, then read the books. I didn't get into HP until about 10 or so years ago. I figured I was way too old for these "kid" books. But, I fell in love with the whole Wizarding World. Not only are the movies really good, but there are some great actors along the way. Looking forward to seeing your next reaction to HP & The Chamber of Secrets.

When you're done with the movies I hope you go to the Harry potter studio tour outside London. It's literally the most magical place I've ever been. And you get to go onto the sets and see so many things. Go into the woods, thru the great hall. It's beautiful

Most often the spells are Latin, but not always. Alohomora for example is Sidiki [South African] which means "friendly to thieves"
There are people who play quidditch in the real world - obviously they don't fly but they have a set of modified rules to allow people to play it.
A lot of people get upset at the end when Dumbledore gives Harry, Ron and Hermione all of those points, but I feel he is mostly giving back what McGonagall took away from them due to Malfoy's snitching. She is extremely strict to students in her own house, which is why they lose points even though Malfoy doesn't. The movies do not show it, but Snape is the opposite: he ignores the shortcomings of Slytherins only to take points away from other houses. And seemingly giving Harry a broom is not favoritism; she really wants Gryffindor to win.
Also, people get confused and think McGonagall buys the broom with her own money, but it’s bought with Harry’s money.
I really enjoyed your reactions, you seemed to really enjoy the story…..I hope you will continue to go on and watch the kids get older and the story gets darker until all is revealed. You won’t regret it!
There actually was a Quidditch videogame that was released back on the GameCube. It was awesome, I would love a remake of that!

The original book is Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone but the movie was renamed for the USA and Canadian market as the Sorcerer's Stoned.
Why Harry cannot stay at Hogwarts over the summer -To put things simply, Harry has to go back to the Dursley's because the protection his mother gave him by sacrificing herself is linked to her blood and Petunia is her sister so he must spend some time each year under her roof for that protection to stay active (there is allot more to it than that but that covers the basics).
That's actually just the US- In Canada we have the UK version called "philosopher's stone". I think it was probably possible to get your hands on a US edition, but we all know it primarily as "the philosopher's stone"

Seriously though, back when only 2 films were out (and only 5 of the 7 books were published), I still hadn't really even heard of it. I casually mentioned that in conversation with some friends, and one of them was completely stunned that I didn't know anything about it. She was like, "You've never heard of Harry Potter? What's wrong with you?! That needs to change!" And she immediately loaned me the first 2 films on DVD and ordered me to watch them and report back. I had no choice in the matter. 😆
And I thought to myself, ehhhh, it's a kids' movie, right? I'm probably not going to be into this very much, and I'll have to think of something nice to say when I give her the DVDs back.
Cut to me watching the first film one fated weekend, and by the end of it, I was completely entranced. I LOVED the world of it. Like you, I think if I'd seen it or read the books as a kid, I would have eaten all of this up! But even as an adult watching it, I thought it was so charming and sweet and the story was interesting (and surprisingly dark at points), and I loved the three kids. They had terrific chemistry together, and Ron cracked me up so much, he was so cute.
And I loved the magical aspect of it. Like you noted about Diagon Alley and all the cool-looking shops where Harry needed to get his school supplies, I was immediately charmed by all of it. I just wanted to walk through that world! (Not unlike the Shire of Lord of the Rings, another place I'd love to visit, lol) And by the time their boats floated toward the Hogwarts castle, I felt like a little kid, starry-eyed and wishing I could do magic. And the detail of it all is so fun! The names of the spells, the way the food magically appears on the tables in the Great Hall (you saying you'd gain so much weight if you were there was so funny!), the colorful Quidditch game, the mystery of Voldemort, and the old time shop look of everything. It was truly magical to me in all ways, and I absolutely loved it. I went out and bought myself the first two movies on DVD, borrowed the first 5 books from my sister-in-law, and waited (im)patiently for the remaining books to be published and films to be made.
In fact, I was stuck in an airport for 10 hours, waiting for a flight home but delayed because of bad weather, and happened to bring the first Harry Potter book with me, and I ended up reading over half the book in the airport! 😊 I got home, finished the first book, and devoured the other 4 books in about a month! Which was impressive because at the time I was working super long hours and I had absolutely no time for reading. But I was so enthralled with the story that I read every second I had time -- while eating breakfast, while brushing my teeth (lol), on lunch breaks, eating dinner, before bedtime, any time I could find a little bit of time to read. So I read 5 books in one month. (And if you've seen the length of book 5, you'll know what a feat that was for me, lol!)
All of that is to say, I really did and do love the series. I've rewatched it multiple times (usually at Christmastime, so your timing is impeccable to me!) and I have all the books. So I'm very excited to see your reactions to this series!! Can't wait!

The rules of Quidditch are actually terrible if you think about them. The snitch is pretty much the _only_ thing that matters.
Think about it: The game only ends once the snitch has been caught. So one side will always get those 150 points at the end.
- If both sides are pretty evenly matched, the snitch-catcher wins the game for their side, period. The rest of the game and players didn't matter one bit.
- If one side has a _massive_ advantage of 16 goals (160 points _more_ than the other side), they're pretty much dominating the game anyway, but _just in case,_ they'll still want the snitch to _be_ caught ASAP, which brings the focus back on the Seekers.
- If one side has the _huge_ disadvantage of being 16+ goals behind, their main interest is to prevent the snitch from getting caught so that they'll have at least a slight chance of catching up - which _again_ brings the focus on the Seekers.
And even _if_ in either of the two latter cases, the team that's fallen back somehow manages to catch up, we're just back at the first case.
All in all, it's a "hero-unit game" where only Harry (and whoever is the opposing Seeker) matters, the rest are just decoration.
I'm so escited!!! You guys will love this franchise.

The reason why Herry Potter has to go back to his Aunt and Uncle at te end of the year is because why he is at their house for the summer he has a protective charm on him until he is 18 years old

Hogwarts Legacy, the recent game set in that universe that you mentioned is set long before the movies era of time so don't be concerned too much about spoilers.

I was coerced by my Mother in my late 20s to read the books... i was immediately hooked! Its been years since i read them, but love the franchise!
I didnt go to the theater... with a bunch of kids... so I waited for the DVDs to come out.

As a progressive thinking old GenXer, i have learned that people that have rooted themselves in an ideological belief... well, their ideals are not easily changed. Then walk away... you cant argue ignorance.
JK is a first year GenXer... 1965... I'm a year later... and I've been called all sorts of things, my favorite is Communist! I know these types... i grew up in a conservative area... you learn to shut up... and let them choose ignorance and hate, I choose truth and acceptance.

I dont feel I'm givng any spoilers...JK Rowling was very clever with her words & names..such as in the Prisoner Of Azkaban..Sirius Black..the dog constellation is named Sirius..the 'godfather' to Harry is from the Black family..his anima is a black dog just as his name implies..Sirius Black...also the name of the mirror is Erised..the mirrored reverse of the word desire...JK is a very clever writer..😁...

The Sorcerer's Stone - because the average American wouldn't have a clue about what a Philosopher's Stone would do - I did because I read comics.
You can shop on that street, Rob. It's recreated at Universal Studios Wizarding World in Florida and California (a stones throw from DisneyWorld/Land - I know for sure the one in Orlando is). You can go to Olivander's - buy a wand and it interactrs with other shops on the street and in the park.
The reply to "You're a wizard, Harry!" is "Hagrid, you're a hairy wizard!"
My walmart use to sell harry potter wands and i bought a bad guy one hoping to get voldamorts but i got a death eaters wand which is cool too i suppose😂
So much talent from these movies who are no longer with us. John Hurt, Robbie Coltrane, Richard Harris, Alan Rickman, Richard Griffiths and Leslie Phillips (The Sorting Hat voice), There are quite a few others but they'd be 2nd hand spoilers. But RIP to all of them.

To answer your questions as good as possible:
1. Most of it does, some things however are really difficult because of copyright issues, and you also have to be prepared that some things will take a long time compared to Patreon before the free time is found to edit it for UA-cam and upload it
2. Dark is probably one they will want to do for UA-cam at one point, but it depends on those aspects and also how long before that happens
3. Yes, all reaction on Patreon are full length

The Sorcerer's Stone is just the title for the american marketing, since they don't use the expression "Philosopher's Stone", that is more of an european thing, it's the same movie.
What makes it even worse is that they *do* use the term ”philosopher’s stone”, but the publishers thought that it sounded ”too boring” for U.S. children … so they changed the name to somehing that sounds ”more interesting” but completely disconnects the item from its historical source :-/

But do you really consider that deep? I love the books but Ron’s character doesn’t change too much once you establish he’s poor and has a huge family.
