I actually like this hall. Simple and calm, with some interest in the floor and plant. I added a peg rail to my entryway last year, but instead of pegs, I had black metal hooks from small wall hanger I took off and used on the rail instead. So it is modern, but rustic. I left the wood (cedar) plank unpainted.

Love the pegs! Now find a few small battery operated lanterns you can paint to match and you can hang on a peg for power outages. Maybe one down by the mail hangy thingies so your tenant can take it upstairs. We have used ours twice now to get up our outside flight of stairs in the dark when power has gone out. I got my mini lantern at the dollar store and store it in a metal box attached to the retaining wall at the base our stairs.
I think I'm going to do mine in black! I photoshopped all the colors I was thinking, and black is just really classic and makes any wreath pop. A lot of people are doing yellow doors but I'm going to just go with a yellow wreath to change out with my mood 🙂
This whole channel has made me wish so much that school made DT fun (essentially woodwork in the uk) - I remember we just glued and screwed wood together and I thought it was so pointless. Now I’m seeing how these skills could really help you out when moving into your own home. It never would have occurred to me that the cold would affect the paint (except dry time) and I would have painted the door and probably done other things where climate is a bit of a factor. I think the peg rail will be super useful in the winter when you have guests over (post Covid). When you don’t have a lot of space to hang coats in an apartment people will throw their snow covered stuff on anything. Now you can politely ask them to just hang them on the way in

Going with the vintage feel... Instead of repairing the plaster around the light fixture... Add a ceiling medallion... They used to be made of plaster, but HomeDepot has them made from foam. I put one under my ceiling fan (over my bed) and it's sooooo beautiful to wake up and see. But it will definitely hide your plaster problem. Go big instead of getting a smaller size and celebrate the medallion. A smaller one looks like you're trying to cover a mistake! Be sure to compare the size of the hole before you purchase. My hole was a little small but it's easy to sand it a little bigger. If it's a tiny bit too big, no worries as you'll probably want to add caulk around there anyway. ❤🌅🌵😷

I think the peg rail will be super useful in the winter when you have guests over (post Covid). When you don’t have a lot of space to hang coats in an apartment people will throw their snow covered stuff on anything. Now you can politely ask them to just hang them on the way in

Going with the vintage feel... Instead of repairing the plaster around the light fixture... Add a ceiling medallion... They used to be made of plaster, but HomeDepot has them made from foam. I put one under my ceiling fan (over my bed) and it's sooooo beautiful to wake up and see. But it will definitely hide your plaster problem. Go big instead of getting a smaller size and celebrate the medallion. A smaller one looks like you're trying to cover a mistake! Be sure to compare the size of the hole before you purchase. My hole was a little small but it's easy to sand it a little bigger. If it's a tiny bit too big, no worries as you'll probably want to add caulk around there anyway. ❤🌅🌵😷
