Oh be still my prim heart. I have never seen an open hearth with 2 bake ovens. It makes my fingers itch to get baking there. I am a trained open hearth cook and have been fortunate to bake in 7 different historic homes. Love love love this. Thankyou.

I haven't cooked on an open hearth in as many places as you, but it strikes me that there can't be many of us in the USA who are trained open hearth cooks. I learned at the Genesee Country Museum in upstate NY many years ago. I only cooked on the open hearth, but never got to use the bake ovens. I just watched. Like you, I've never seen a house with 2 bake ovens. Even in the big wealthy house, we only had one. I remember cooking on the open hearth as immensely satisfying and very tasty.
My training began at the Genesee Country Museum also. But work began at Wyoming County Fair in Pike NY An 1810 home is on the Fair Grounds and we cook from 1-9 Mon thru Sat. I have been blessed to be a part of that for almost 30 yrs. Your'e correct there are not that many of us. We could be besties!!

An 1810 home is on the grounds and the week of fair we cook in teams from 1-9 as the public comes through and watches. I have been blessed to cook for over 30 yrs there. We could be Besties!!!!

This house is stunning! The owners have impeccable taste with authentic looking "period correct" furnishings and decor, and still blend in todays conveniences, like that Master Bath! Incredible period home...I should be so blessed! 🥰🙏💯👍♥️

Born and brought up in Southeastern Massachusetts, and I absolutely love these colonial era homes. And New England has a ton of them. That and lots of stone walls. Hey, we had to do SOMETHING with all those rocks.

Not sure what was up with the aqua sink in the kitchen, but otherwise I liked how the color palette was cohesive from room to room, and in keeping with the period. Decor doesn't have to be like a museum, but this place looks really beautiful and comfortable as well. The extra oven spaces in the hearth were so interesting, and I like how they were lit with candles. I also like how this one didn't feel dreary, as the low ceilings and dark wood rooms can.
It was to blend in with the fake wood Formica counter top 😊

Absolutely stunning! Only thing I would change is the kitchen--those cupboards need a fresh paint job + I'd have green, not more of the dried blood red. But what a cosy, beautiful, gracious home!

I reckon the turquoise sink was a holdover. It’s actually a good foil for the “historic” red. A little more of the color would give it intentionality.
I don’t care for the sink. It’s a wonderful old house though.

If I were young I would buy houses in places like Beverly and Salem that have been remuddled with vinyl or aluminum siding and have new windows and would restore them back to original. That is where the value is.

The owners of this beautiful residence have a talent for attractive furniture placement and decoration. It's understandable why they would want a more modern bathroom, but it was rather jarring to see. Overall, though, it's a pleasingly done home.
