  • This DIY shows you how I upholster an ottoman without sewing. It's a relatively easy way to change the look in any room and add a pop of color or accent the rest of your decor. I got the fabric I used from Riley Black Designs. There is a link below to their website.

    Oh Jami! I am so glad that I found your videos. After watching countless wonderful chalk painting videos, now I have come across this gorgeous video on re-uphostering! Thanks so much.

    I know this is an older video for you, but I've been dragging around an old ottoman that looks almost like this one for several years! Finally my son moved out and I'm going to furnish his old room with things I have around the house. Cue needing to chalk paint all the things! My daughter and I spent Thanksgiving evening stripping the fabric off my ottoman! Whew! That was hard work! I am going to repurpose my foam. My ottoman is probably a little larger and man, the legs were really on there! Two 4" screws in each one, then welt cord over the edges (not necessary, I think I can do mine just like you did yours) and then a long threaded bolt through the center of each leg screwed into the frame!. I have to pick out bedding before I decide what fabric I want. But I love your fabric! I probably wouldn't have attempted this without your video, so thanks!

      Awesome! Sounds like a fun project with your daughter! And yes. Taking off all the old fabric drives me nuts sometimes lol.

    🦋I removed all the fabric and cotton batting last night. Underneath the batting is horse hair over the springs, and I'm going to leave it under new cotton batting. I bought upholstery tacks, at Lowes. I don't have a staple gun available because it's in a box somewhere. My ottoman isn't able to be separated, so my job is going to be quite difficult. I am unable to take the legs off. There wasn't real wood under the material, it was pressed board. Oh! Man! I forgot to buy dust cover material. I bought a bolt of upholstery cloth at the Missions Thrift Store, in Cary, NC. Thank God for GPS in my car, WhooHoo!
    I love the job you did on your ottoman .

    My dogs did an "amazing" job of tearing up the foam on my ottoman. I'm so glad I found your tutorial! I can recover it myself I think.

    I like the cost rundown. I had no idea I could afford a power stapler. My air compressor was $20 at a pawn shop...the guy got turned down bc they had too many. I met him in the parking lot and boom! I love it so much. Your ottoman is amazing! I just passed up a high heat glue gun yesterday for $2...hope I can find that sale again.

    Very helpful! Is the batting a necessary step? Also, do you have chaise slipcover tutorial? Thank you!

    • @JamiRayVintage
      @JamiRayVintage  6 років тому

      I don’t sew well so no slip cover. The batting is to help round the edges and make it soft. If you don’t need that it could just be covered.

    I recovered a small footstool recently. It had legs that are very similar to the ones you have. I didn’t think they were old because they were made of some type of plastic. Did you know what your legs are made of?

      Sure. I would make sure it’s clean. Stains might transfer onto your new fabric.

      @Sunshine. The word is wasted( as in using too much material going to waste) not waisted (as in the area around your stomach).🤔
